Great food & service. Looking forward to returning to the Ivy Inn soon!
The evening was perfect from greeting at the door through dessert. My husband said it was the best meal ever! We were celebrating a birthday and had appetizers, salad, main course, and dessert. The menu provided so many choices it was hard to choose. Don’t miss the seasonal tomato pie or the berry cobbler!
Our waitress was fantastic and the food was delish!
Lovely smaller restaurant, delicious food and excellent service. Halibut, pork loin and trout were our dishes, and all were excellent.
Another outstanding dinner at the Ivy Inn. We had the lam chops and they were excellent -the best I’ve had. They have an extensive wine list but the selections are all domestic, but plenty to please. Service was excellent. On of our top restaurants.
Our dinner was fabulous. My steak cooked to perfection. My husband’s dinner was great. Would recommend this restaurant to all
Great ingredients and fabulous cooking with wonderful service
One of the best restaurants I've been. Beautiful place, wonderful staff, fantastic food.
Wonderful birthday dinner! Trout, halibut and rack of lamb, all excellent.
The Ivy Inn is one of our favorite restaurants in Charlottesville. We enjoyed another great dining experience last evening. Good service and food, as always. Highly recommend.
Always a great meal & wonderful service. The gnocchi never disappoints!
We were seated (by request ) on the covered patio. The noise level was such that we could easily carry on a conversation. Our server was informative about menu items.
The lamb was perfectly cooked with great mashed potatoes and beans. The salmon was also done to perfection--cooked but not dry. The peach melba cake was so good that my promise to myself to take some home was abandoned after the first bite. My friends also raved about the chocolate cake and the key lime pie.
Not family friendly! They didn’t have high chairs which meant we had to take turns holding our 12 month son. The outside porch had one fan for the whole area. Service was slow and good was just ok.
The Ivy Inn continues to be one of the best restaurants in Charlottesville. Food is excellent and wait staff attentive and well trained.
We enjoyed a delightful evening. The ambiance, service and food were all top notch. Calvin was a great server. As we entered downstairs, I was concerned by the heat because it’s been exceptionally hot. But we were seated upstairs and the temperature was most comfortable.
All in all, a great restaurant in a lovely and quaint setting.
We were celebrating a special anniversary. We were greeted immediately with a special congratulations and our menu had a custom greeting on it! Our server, Glenda, was incredible - both personable and very knowledgeable and gracious. Our starters and entrees, and dessert, were excellent. The rack of lamb is a chef's specialty and I could see why. We will definitely go back next time we are in Charlottesville.
Wonderful selection, delicious dinner and great service!
great food! great service! Excellent value for the price.
Amazing farm to table food. Best trout I have ever had. Can cut the chicken with a fork. The heirloom tomatoes are incredible. Ambiance is wonderful. Server was a college student, not a professional waiter, but was extremely nice and very attentive. Pace was just right. Will definitely go back.
Wonderful service and a lovely meal. Romantic and historically cozy.
Excellent service, thanks!!
Wine list is very very nice
The food choice is to die for..
Everything was well above expectations
Must visit when in town!!
Fine dining in lovely old inn. Reserved for outside seating in well spaced rear courtyard. Our waiter Florin was very attentive, friendly and helpful with recommendations. Enjoyed shrimp and grits starter very tasty and ample. Wife had Greek salad with freshest tomatoes and cucumbers. Both main courses of haddock and trout were delicious and portioned nicely. No room for dessert but menu featured several items with peaches that were tempting. I thought the pricing was in line with the quality of the food. Would definitely return if ever in town again.
The food was good and the service was outstanding. A bit too pricey for the food quality.
Great food and excellent service! Thank you all for a memorable dinner.
Very nice establishment run well. The food was outstanding and the service well timed.
Every dish was great. The halibut was a particularly special dish.
Great ambience service and food chef came out afterwords worried if the bone in pork chop was cooked properly very attentive
The food was excellent and service was wonderful. I would definitely return if I am in the Charlottesville area again!
My adult daughter and I had a one-day escape for pampering ourselves and catching up on our respective lives and families. After some nice spa treatments, we enjoyed an amazing dinner at The Old Ivy Inn. We were seated in a room on the second floor with about 4-5 other tables around us. It was very quiet which was such a treat. My daughter had a special heirloom tomato hot appetizer and I had a lovely Greek salad. The amuse bouche of house-made pimento cheese on crostini was a hint of the meal to come. For mains my daughter had the pork chop which was delightful and with plenty of meat. I had the rack of lamb with three small chops with a mustard rub. It, the mashed potatoes and small green beans, had a delightful little sauce with it. We enjoyed a glass of wine each. My daughter had the crème brulee for dessert while I had the butterscotch bread pudding. We both agreed that I won on the dessert. It had such a nice light sauce with chopped pecans over the pudding. I would highly recommend this popular restaurant.
Waiter was not personable. Did not check in on us. Brought apps and salad out at the same time. Was looking forward to the Halibut but the ran out of it by 6:15. Mixed up our steaks. Normally love this restaurant but the server spoiled the evening.
Lovely restaurant and service. The food was tasty and interesting. Quaint environment. We all enjoyed every bite.
This cozy and quaint Inn had an absolutely delectable menu. We were visiting from out of town and celebrated a quiet, romantic birthday dinner here. We started with the tomato pie which was so fresh and juicy, made with local heirloom and cherry tomatoes. Next we had the Greek salad, another delicious choice. I was caught off guard because there was no romaine lettuce, but I preferred it! Just plenty more ripe, red, beefy heirloom tomatoes, fresh feta, (likely homemade, creamy, but not too salty), olives, red onions, and oil/vinegar. For the entree, one of us got the lamb chops, the house specialty, and one of us the local, Rag Mountain grilled trout. Both were cooked perfectly (the lamb was medium rare) and the fish was so tender. Our server, Simon, was on top of everything and was very hospitable. Cocktails we ordered included a Manhattan and “peachy keen”, Bulleit bourbon with peach purée and simple syrup. So glad we had a chance to visit and support this local gem. We will definitely be back! 👍🏽
Excellent food and service. Granddaughter is a student at UVA and we were visiting her and her boyfriend. We all had outstanding meals! It is pricey, but excellent for special occasions. Would return.
Don’t know how they do it, but Ivy Inn has maintained its superior level of everything - food, service, hospitality, relaxing refuge from real world - during the pandemic and beyond. The chef’s creative and expert use of local produce means that you will find different delights at different times of the seasons, although the classic dishes (may they never remove the Rag Mountain trout or shrimp and grits from menu!) appear consistently. A visit to Ivy Inn is more like a mini vacation/getaway. Our UVA student nurse daughter always has a few dinner requests on her list when we visit; her choices vary from visit to visit except for one place - Ivy Inn, of course.
Malcolm was phenomenal-he gave great advice, provided great service, kept it fun, and was so knowledgeable about the food and beverage options. We got to eat local, had a great meal, and were able to talk business in a comfortable and quiet setting. Ivy Inn is definitely on my “must return to” list.
Best birthday dinner with wishes from all staff including a “Happy Birthday” on my dessert plate. Simple extra touches that made me feel special. Exceptional food & service. Will be back & will recommend to all!
ALL GOOD -- nice selection and great service -- will be back soon
Fabulous! Service was exceptional.
This was the best dining experience my wife and I have had in quite some time. Food was excellent. Service was attentive but not hovering. Very pleased with the whole package
