The food was cooked to perfection, the staff were very polite and efficient. I felt when I booked the table that it was a bit pricy but thought "what the hell it's only once a year" however it exceeded my expectations and thought it was very good value for money, It was that good I wanted to book for next year there and then!
Waitress was very helpful and dealt with all our requirements straight away.
Food took 40 minutes to arrive and the restaurant wasnt busy.
Out of the six meals, we have to request items which were missed for 5 of the meals
A bit noisy in there I am deaf so it was very noisy and my friend was saying we couldn’t hear ourselves talking as there was 4 of us and couldn’t fault the food it was amazing we will come be again hopefully for Xmas lunch
Birthday meal with parents before 2nd lockdown. Felt welcome, safe, enjoyed our meals.
I ordered a ham mustard and sun-dried tomato bloomer.
It arrived with no tomato. As the waitress had told us prior to ordering of a number of items that were not available due to no deliveries for the lock down I didn’t say anything as assumed this was the reason.
When our plates were collected we were asked by another waitress if the food was ok. I made comment about the lack of tomato and how it would have been nice to have known before hand as I would have ordered something else.
She went off and came back to advise she’d spoken to the chef who assured her 100% he’d put tomatoes in it. My response was I can assure you he didn’t and my friend also confirmed there was none. Again the waitress said the chef says he did, so he did. All but accusing me of lying.
She was rude, unapologetic and her attitude was appalling.
It was a shame as all the other staff were friendly and professional.
There’s plenty of other pubs within that area . She and her attitude will certainly make me go elsewhere next time we are able to.

Excellent service from start to finish. Very friendly and helpful. Ale was served at the perfect temperature and was clearly fresh. Food came efficiently, all cooked perfectly - absolutely delicious. Will be back again regularly.
Lovely meal although once served didn’t see anyone to order any extras we would have liked a bit more gravy and were told that potato veg gravy and Yorkshire’s were bottomless when ordering. We cannot understand why we have to use card payments when tried to pay cash but a tip in cash is fine?? None the less we will definitely return
Pleasant gastro pub in a nice location opposite Swanwick marina. Food was reasonable quality, nothing amazing but tasty and well cooked. Prices are a little on the high side. Service was pleasant if a little slow. Personally I found it a bit noisy. Even with social distancing it was difficult to talk over some very loud customers sitting on the tables behind us. Not much that can be done about that I suppose though! Would definitely return.

We waited for a while to be seated. It was not busy but it took ages for our food to arrive and when it did the skinny chips were so hard that they were inedible. We all ordered sticky toffee pudding for dessert which had hard bits that had obviously been defrosted in the microwave.
Food was terrible, the price did not reflect the food at all. Pizza was awful, burger meat was not nice and the corn on the special chicken and ribs platter was cold.
The chicken was dry and over cooked, ribs tasted like they were bought from Tesco’s.
I wouldn’t return for food here ever again.

Three of us had fish & chips which was cooked perfectly. The batter was very light and not too crispy. The other meal was a ploughman’s which was enormous.
Be aware though we got charged for three bottles of wine instead of three glasses.
Just my opinion but I thought that some of the tables were too close to each other .

We eat here quite often and the food is good. Once seated, it took quite a while for the waitress to come back to us to take the drinks order. The food was very good as usual. Come 9.35, we started to be pestered with glass collections with more than one member of staff keen to move us on. Where were they all at the beginning?

Very good pizza! But have a look on the menu, too. All served food was very good quality and well presented.
Sunday at 6.30pm and the bar dining area was not busy. My husband chose the pie of the day and I chose the cod and chips. The service was prompt and the food was piping hot, which is how I like it. One dessert of selected ice creams between us, followed by coffees and we were happy. Also, we felt safe at all times during our visit.
We had a lovely meal there was a group of 6 and 4 of us had the roast beef which was very nice the service was a bit slow at times for drinks we could see our drinks waiting to be collected at the bar I feel that let it down overall enjoyable t

We had a group of 6, children and adults and we were very well looked after. Food was nice, plenty on your plate and I would definitely recommend.

Overall, we were happy with the service and food, however, we ordered from the lunchtime 'offer' of meal and drink for £12, but the bill only showed a reduction for one drink (glass of wine) we were not informed that the Soda and Lime drinks were not included in the offer and therefore not given the opportunity to order drinks that were included! Our bill was therefore marginally higher than expected!
Also, our order for the Brie and Cranberry in baguettes was supposed to have Dijon mustard and rocket in them, neither was and nor was any explanation given. As we were pressed for time we did not question this and apart from that, the food was good.
It was very busy at lunchtime and the food was slow in coming but was made to order. We waiting over an hour.

This was our second trip to the Navigator, the previous having been about 10 months previous (our previous meal was disappointing but we wanted to give it another go).
The service was good although it was a shame that we had not been put in the restaurant even though we had booked to eat.
I thought the time it took for our drinks and food to arrive was a bit slow but I appreciate (at least for the drinks) that with COVID things are a bit more complicated.
We all had starters and pizza mains. The starters were OK, nothing amazing but nothing to complain about.
I thought the pizzas however were disappointing. The base was good and they were cooked well but it was completely let down by the fact that the tomato on the pizza was more like tomato paste rather than a nice pizza base sauce. Unfortunately this ruined the pizza but this should be a really easy fix.
Unfortunately with the slow arrival of food etc and the governments 10pm restriction we did not have time to finish our food comfortably and we ended up having to put it in a box to take away.
Unfortunately I will not be rushing back as although it is a closest pub to where we live I think I will walk the extra 5 mins to other pubs for better food.
Unfortunately the service was not very good the waitress did not have enough training. There were no ice buckets left asked for a jug with ice to put the bottle of wine in but the jug was too small! The manager showed us to our table & went through the specials if which was sea bass filets but when we went to order there was not any fish on the menu only fish & chips. I had steak with bernaise sauce which tasted very much of mayo & added tarragon so nit too happy!
I have visited the navigator on 2 occasions and for both visits we have been advised they are a chef down so their fish of the day has never been available really disappointing.
During Covid, many establishments now order via app, and in the main thus works well. The Navigators app was poor. But even worse is that once ordered the drinks took 40 minutes in the first instance, and we go a refund after 35 minutes and left in the second instance of ordering a simple drinks round - and it wasn’t even that busy. They were critically understaffed which meant we were so cheesed off that we gave up. Such a shame. Both the boathouse and the jolly sailor nearby were far better experiences.
Unfortunately there were staffing issues and we waited one and half hours for our meal. The meal when it came was very good. I've been to the Navigator many times and this is the first time that the service was poor. After complaining we were only charged a nominal amount for the meal. I hope they resolve their staffing (which has never been great ) as the place is lovely
The service was horrendous, on a busy Saturday they had 2 members of staff on and the wait for drinks and food was very slow. When the food arrived it was very good though .
Staff rude and inattentive. Took nearly an hour for our meals. Then half an hour to be asked about desert. The main host wasn’t wearing his mask properly, so it was absolutely pointless him wearing it. I won’t be returning.
Poor service due to internet being down and short staffed.
Assistant manager was noticeably working hard abs providing a sufficient service.
General manager and other staff left us waiting 40 minutes without a drink or menu.

Went for a midweek dinner. The service was great, as was the food... best steak pie ever! Everything was in place to keep everyone safe during COVID-19. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and will definitely be going back .
Excellent food, portions and value for money. Attentive service, friendly, great timing and tables well spaced and clean. Will definitely visit again.
