The Old Triangle Irish Alehouse - Halifax
I love the relaxed atmosphere and authentic Irish feel of the place. The food was good and the service and music was outstanding!
Great time good food, great wings. Server was great.
Fun place, great food, and service. Loved the tee shirts we bought!
Wonderful evening! Excellent food and service. Highly recommended !
A friend recommended this restaurant to us saying whenever he is in Halifax he goes there for the ambiance, good food and entertainment. Our waiter was very good- attentive, helpful and not rushing us when we were done. Very pleasant evening.
Best pub in Halifax
We enjoyed the food and pleasant experience Thanks for the lovely time
We visited a number of restaurants in the city during our stay. This was the only disappointing stop. We were really looking forward to the Irish atmosphere, cuisine and entertainment. Staff was friendly and the atmosphere was fine. The disappointment was the quality of food. The seafood chowder, while tasting ok, was basically cream of potato soup. Very difficult to find any actual seafood. I order fish and chips. The fish while small portions, was tasty. The cole slaw was only shredded cabbage with as near as I could tell lacking any dressing. The potatoes was a bowl of mush resembling a bad poutine. The three guitar players who were the entertainment did a decent job of the music they were playing. It unfortunately lacked the Irish flavour we were looking forward to. I must admit the restaurant was full of guests who were by appearance having a good time. It just didn’t live up to what we were expecting.
Small selection, but the Nicoise Salad was very good. A good place for a younger crowd!
Great food, excellent service. We sat outside on a beautiful Summer night but the inside had a great vibe as well.
Great place with good Celtic flavour. Highly recommended.
One of my favourite places in Halifax, great atmosphere, friendly service, nice local beer selection, and great food, it has everything!
Great live music started early evening. Usual pub fare. Fish and chips just average. Side of coleslaw was inedible. Definitely room for improvement. Waiter was attentive and friendly
Our friends came to Nova Scotia on their honeymoon and this was the place we took them. They even got a piece of chocolate cake with raspberries compliments of the server! We had a fantastic night and the table was great, right by the music! Thanks to everyone for making it a memorable evening!
We booked this as it was close to our hotel on our last night in Halifax. It was like walking into an Irish bar in Dublin. Great atmosphere and fabulous food. Oh and Guiness on tap! Fun vibe and great food.
Great time with friends and family, had a reservation booked ahead of time, excellent service and food, server dan was awesome!
The food was 5 star (i had the lobster/scallop crepes) drinks were good but a little pricey and the entertainment was excellent. We had a great time and would definitely go back
Met up with out-of-province friends for dinner. Our table was by the stage where we had the opportunity to enjoy wonderful food and live music. Server was excellent and attentive. Only complaint - - although the Alehouse takes reservations there is no host available, which can make for an awkward experience in finding your table. Overall, though, everyone had a good time and I would recommend going.
Ambiance was charming. Staff was super friendly. Food was spectacular. The whisky flights were fun!
Loved the lobster and scallop crepes!
Excellent food, try the lamb shanks..., live music and friendly stuff.
Went there for mother’s day brunch. Food was amazing. Goat cheese omelette...delicious. Staff were great despite the busyness. Good price and great atmosphere
Food & drink service was pretty slow considering it was Mother's Day brunch and the place was half empty. Would have been nice to acknowledge the mom at the table with a free mimosa. But overall it was a nice meal.
Great service and quick as we were headed to a concert.
One of my favourite places to eat in Halifax! Highly recommended!!!!
Our server that night was awesome! You could tell he loved his job. Food was good, but a little pricey. We were there to celebrate my husbands birthday but no mention of any dessert for him for his birthday was given... a little disappointed with that. The music that night was good...atmosphere was really nice.
I love that leftovers go home in reusable plastic containers and not styrofoam. Great night out. The only not perfect thing was the level of sound in the live music. Don’t get me wrong, the performer was talented but I think the house sound system was cranked up too loud. We ended up dining as far away as possible so we could hear each other talk and we still heard the music. If you have a hearing aid (I do not) you might go on a night when there is no live music. During the set break it was very easy to hear each other even with large groups all around us laughing.
Good prompt service and food was tasty and hot. Burns night was a nice event.
Overall very pleasant staff, however the food was mediocre at best - for a party of 6 our bill came to about $300 for 1 drink each, 3 appetizers and a main course each, quite disappointing overall. My daughter and parents sent back nearly their entire meal (minus 1 or 2 bites) my sister's fiance only able to finish half.. as did my sister and I. May try again sometime/may not. Undecided. I booked the reservation as a post Christmas holiday as my family is out of province and this was our first time together in 2 years... we were sat way in the back, away from the live entertainment, alone in the empty rear of the restaurant. Too bad.
Probably better choices for food quality out there, but the staff was very friendly.
We are very sorry you did not enjoy your visit. We investigated your service on camera and we sincerely wish you had informed your server any food issue. We never allow a guest to leave unhappy if we know about a problem. Our motto is "If you like us tell everyone, if not please tell us!" We very are sorry we disappointed you and thank you for your feedback as we use all feedback, good or ill, as training tools. As a point of clarity, there were actually 10 drinks on the bill, however.
Really excellent food and good live entertainment.
We have been on several occasions and always a great time.
A great live music venue that also serves good food. Helpful, friendly staff and great ambience.
Seating was a bit cramped. Food and drinks were good. Service was prompt.
Great setting for a birthday dinner. Enjoyed the music.
Have been in Halifax for four days and we have been there 4 times.
We thoroughly enjoyed the Irish pub qualities. I was a wee bit disappointed that we missed the celtic music by 1 day. We are not typically bar people as we do not drink and we're pleased to find some delicious vegan options. Our server was excellent with his service and recommendations and even directing me to a handicap bathroom noting my difficulty with walking although I had prepared myself to go down the long stairway to the basement bathroom. We were very please with our experience.
Un beau pub, nous avons été très satisfait de ce lieu. Personnel amical et courtois.
This was our first visit to Halifax and as we walked near The Old Triangle, a couple who had just had a meal there highly recommended it to us. We went there the next evening and had a most delightful and delicious meal. Justin was our server. He was friendly, attentive, and most willing to explain menu options. He definitely helped make our experience at The Old Triangle a most enjoyable one. We chose to share a Wearin' of the Green Salad, Marguerite Pizza and Guinness Gingerbread dessert. Ate every last bit!
Must try the curry and chips!
Food and ambiance was good. It was Sunday night and the musician was very talented but it was so loud we chose to leave - either that or lose our voices trying to speak to one another.
