The Oxford House Inn
The three of us in our party were all perfectly satisfied. Will definitely return and refer friends!
Best dining in the area. Very quaint atmosphere and super friendly staff. Food is above average. Fantastic setting.
Have been to the Oxford House several times.. this visit proved to be very marginal for both food and service.., will have to think twice before returning!
Hello Larry, I see you have dined with us 8 times in the past, which is fantastic! This is your first negative review. I was hosting when you were here in our pub on Friday night, and nothing was brought to my attention. I would appreciate it if you would reach out to me directly to let me know where we erred in your opinion. We cannot fix what we are not aware of. I can't post my direct contact info here, but you can contact me through our website. Thank you Natalie Spak Owner/Innkeeper
We love this place- especially dining downstairs in Jonathan’s. It’s cozy and the food is always amazing. Great cocktail here- my Manhattan was perfect. We started with the Bibb lettuce salad. Delicious and fresh. Love the dressing. I had the special- cider braised veal short ribs. Yum! What a delightful combination of flavors. My wife had the Vegan Burger and loved it. The service is always friendly and attentive. We are lucky to have a restaurant of this caliber in the area. It never disappoints.
Yet another amazing meal to celebrate with at the Oxford House. Our favorite place for the best food and atmosphere with fine or casual dining! Everyone should go here!
A fantastic dinner as always
I would give this five stars except for the owner/manager who never learned that the customer is always right. My wife ordered ribs which were like chewing on wood. We sent them back. When I was paying the bill I noticed the ribs were still on the bill. I mentioned this to the server who said the owner refused to take them off because they were “prepared by the kitchen as they should be.” I asked to speak with her but she had left. I told the server to call her after which the owner charged her mind. I should not have had to go through this for something that any other owner or manager would have done immediately. Bad customer service.
Our first time, and worth a return visit. Both appetizers (pulled duck and scallion pancakes, squash pierogis) were excellent; both steaks were cooked exactly as we wished and very tender. Dining room was quiet, handsome, and in excellent condition as part of a 100-year old former mansion. Server was very attentive.
I can’t say enough good things about the food or the service. Everyone was kind, accommodating, and attentive. The food and drinks were creative and delicious. I’d recommend the braised beef dish for an entree, the sweet potato fries for an appetizer, and the bread pudding or homemade chocolate ice cream for dessert. The view of the mountains at sunset really made what was already a great dining experience, a spectacular one. I’ll definitely be back.
Great atmosphere. Service was splendid. Food choices were variable. Food was very good. Price was acceptable.
Our experience at the Oxford House combined great food with outstanding service and wonderful ambience. It was our first visit, and was a pleasant surprise. We will definitely be going again.
Amazing food! Loved the pear martini 🍸prices very reasonable. Highly recommend 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Food, atmosphere and service were all excellent.
Kim, our server was excellent. The food was great and there was a very good choice of wines . The home made ice creams were a wonderful ending to the meal.
Great meal, staff was very pleasant. Wish we got a window with a view. Next time
The dishes were very creative & excellent. Our waitress was very attentive & nice. This restaurant was recommended by the owners of our bed & breakfast at the Buttonwood Inn at Surprise Mountain in North Conway, NH.
A beautifully restored circa 1920 building create a nice atmosphere for a romantic dinner. Service and food was fantastic. Desert was to die for. Highly recommended.
This was our first visit to the Oxford House but had heard rave reviews from friends and colleagues. We really enjoyed our Date night and the food was outstanding. We want to go back and check out the bar next time.
A real restaurant, not a sports bar dressed up. Varied menu with several dishes not found in chain venues. Very well prepared and presented and well timed. Staff very attentive, courteous and friendly. very good wine selection, and port (4 choices) with good coffee after dinner. Only thing lacking was cheese and crackers as an option instead of dessert. Just not a regional option I guess, but much favored in other countries.
Wonderful meal in very nice setting. We enjoyed the Filet Mignon and the Seafood Paella. Crabcakes appetizer was excellent. Chatted with friendly co-owner after dinner.
Priceless occasion. My husband & I took his 92 old mother and his aunt to the Oxford House Inn for dinner last night. She was born & raised in Fryeburg but had never been in the Inn. We were seated in a room with a view of the back yard. Everything was beautiful! Crab cake appetizers were perfect with melt in your mouth topping. Loved the presentation with cucumbers strings & red onions. Others had Clam chowder, delicious to the last drop. My husband & I each each enjoyed the melt in your mouth filet mignon. The others tried the Swordfish and ate every bite. We finished it off with the house special dessert & Maine blueberry crisp with ice cream. She felt so special being able to eat in the house she had only seen from the outside. The service was excellent and made it a truly special occasion!
The food is amazing there and so is the ambiance. This was our second time staying at the inn and having food there and everything about it is just so relaxing but the food tops the polls.
Grateful to have found such a great place! We could smell the magic in the kitchen while we were soaking up the late summer evening on the Adirondack chairs. Love love love the oxford inn!
The Oxford house never fails to be outstanding... from chef Jonathan’s creations to signature cocktails and Clare’s amazing service. For me, it’s a primary reason to visit Fryeburg.
Best restaurant in Fryeburg. Big city fine dining right in Fryeburg. Well worth the visit. Shoot for sunset and catch some great views out back.
Fantastic food, great service, always a great experience here! We even had a delicious mountain blueberry dessert.
Fantastic! Only wish we had been warned how the blueberry skillet would turn our tongues and teeth dark blue! Otherwise perfection.
Creative, delicious - yet unpretentious food. Friendly wait staff and hostess. Great dining is a rural setting.
We have dined at the Oxford House Inn whenever we have visited the White Mountain area. I would say we have dined there at least a dozen times. To say the food is spectacular is an understatement! The menu changes according to what is fresh and in season. It is always unique and substantial. Our entire family loves this place! I wish we lived closer!
We've been coming to the Oxford Inn for over 20 years. It never disappoints. We ordered one of each of the appetizers since we couldn't decide what we wanted to eat! All five of the appetizers along with an order of edamame and sweet potato fries were exquisite! Our waitress, Wendy was very personable and fun. We enjoyed our evening immensely and will be back.
The food was delicious, the service, excellent, and the ambience was lovely. We will return.
Absolutely amazing dinner as always. The food and view never cease to amaze us year after year.
Amazing spot. Great food and ambiance. The views are incredible.
Another great meal with outstanding service !
That was the actual best meal out all year. The dishes surprised us with their creativity. I order paella, what I got was not your typical Vallencia paella, which would have been delicious anyway, rather it was rich and delicious and would have paired well with a lighter red wine. My wife's seared tuna was likewise over the top.
Always amazing! We are so lucky to such a great place to eat so close.
Food was fantastic as always!!! Service was top notch and the view just couldn't' the better- no better way for us to celebrate our wedding anniversary!!!!
The meal (for two) was pricier than most restaurants in this area, but the dishes were imaginative and delicious, so a step above.
Lovely arts and crafts building; beautiful view from some parts of the dining room; great food.
The appetizers and desserts were delicious They were out of an ingredient for one of specialty drinks that I had wanted to try so had to choose another. One of our entrees not as spectacular as rest of meal but overall the food was superb and the atmosphere and staff were too
Great way spend 25th wedding anniversary
THE OXFORD HOUSE IS OUR FAVORITE RESTAURANT. THE FOOD IS ALWAYS DELICIOUS AND VARIED. THE SERVICE IS FRIENDLY AND KNOWLEDGEABLE. THIS PAST VISIT WE SAT OH THE FRONT PORCH AND IT WAS DELIGHTFUL.
