Great Brunch menu. Excellent service by all. Very happy to have upscale dining experience in Hyde Park.
First time coming and it wasn’t what I thought it would be. I would definitely come for drinks but for food wise I wasn’t that impressed. Great drinks and bartender was super nice. Just didn’t care for the food
Food was not good. I order the ny strip the steak in a Chipotle burrito is better quality. We also order the paradella pasta, it is vegetarian dish mostly pasta and tomato for $18 it was not even a half order. Portions on everything were extremely small . The vegatable side that came with the steak was a few cherry tomatoes with tiny pieces of micro vegetables. The wine pour is the smallest I have ever seen. We spent almost $100. and we left starving.DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT! However do go to the music venue, it was fantastic.
The ambiance was nice but the food was not so great my table ordered a variety of food from the scallops, steak, burger, greens and Brussel sprouts which all had to go back the wings, fries and short ribs were ok but nothing to brag about and it took over 30 minutes to get the short ribs and the place was not very crowded
Second time coming and terrible service both times. The water guys were great but the server was less than desirable. Won't be coming back.
Great spot for a date. We sat in their lovely outdoor patio, and the good wine and delicious Farm Chicken were the star of the meal.
Great food. Poor wine. Go cocktails....too much noise
Food was excellent, but overpriced for portion size. Too loud for any conversation. Got our app (called small plate) after our entree. Did get us out for a show within 45 minutes, though, on a Friday evening.
The menu is interesting with many twists on classics as well as some totally new concepts. Everything was very fresh and spiced just right! Service was a little challenging but the manager quickly addressed any issues. Noise level was a bit high but overall a good experience. We will be back!
Dinner was excellent with an innovative menu. I had a Korean short rib dish that was outstanding along with a smoked trout ceasar salad which had interesting flavors. The lemon beignets were wonderful and the dish was large enough to share. The only down side was that service was very slow-we were there on a busy Friday night but it would be helpful if the waitstaff checked in with us-I did see her standing around several times-and could have updated us on the delay.
We all enjoyed The Promentory very much. The room has a good energy and vibe. There are young people at the bar as well as couples having dinner. There is a beautiful dining area inside and a lovely patio. The food was all delicious and well prepared. I had the diver scallops served with a wine sauce containing fresh corn...delish. My friends had the polish ravioli and they pronounced it excellent. The menu is a bit confusing but our waiter, David explained how everything was organized and answered our questions. The bartender came to the table to see if our drinks were prepared to our liking and the general manager stopped by the table to check on us. My only criticism was the noise level. The playlist they use is excellent, but the volume made it difficult for us to have a conversation. We asked for it to be turned down and they did...slightly. If you go remember the the "small plates" are really small. We had both the smoked whipped feta and the mezz plate for our appetizer. I must give kudos to our waiter, David. He was excellent and made sure we were happy with everything.
This is my 4th time dining here. It's always good, creative, interesting food. The music was a little loud this time so we ate outdoors which was lovely. One of our favorite places in Hyde Park.
A pleasant surprise to Hyde Park. Beautiful ambiance, lighting, plants, etc. delicious food and amazing desserts. It was a little tough to hear sometimes, but completely worth trying this place out. We plan to be back with friends!
Nice setting and great outdoor setting. Mussels and risotto were quite good. Burger was perfectly cooked on nice brioche bun... Fries were a bit soggy.
Very nice cocktail drinks menu well presented.
Wish there was better lighting at the table so that I could see the menu. Had to use my phone for lighting.
We arrived as scheduled and were able to select an outside table. Our server did a great job explaining the menu and suggesting various items based on our feedback. The emphasis at Promontory is tapas dining, where the table orders several items to share (small, medium and large plate offerings).
Our favorite of the night was the smoked feta cheese with olives. The preparation actually infused a delicious smoky flavor into the feta, and the variety of olives was terrific.
Our large plates were also presented in a way that enabled us to sample, including my choice - the tenderloin.
Although I didn't request it, the sommelier visited our table and offered to help select a wine. Perhaps I was taking too long reviewing the list, which included a wide variety of domestic, Italian, French, Spanish and others. I explained I wanted a white which would stand up to the foods I had just seen on the menu and asked about a Spanish Duoro. He recommended an Italian white blend, which we all agreed was a good choice (we had two bottles).
We enjoyed the creative desserts and delicious coffee to wrap up a very nice evening at Promontory.
Burgers are great!
Great meal, sat at food prep bar. Roland was a great chef and very personable
The venue is fun and industrial/chic, but the food was terrible for the price. You can't improve your food simply by creating a chill environment and doubling the price. We paid $16 for about 8oz of "Korean style ribs" that were overcooked and overspiced. $16 prawns (you get three) were also incredibly overseasoned and were likely on the verge of going bad (as were the oysters we were served at happy hour). I guess that is what we get for ordering sea food in Hyde Park, but still...
The food was not fantastic, but if you stick with the burger, I imagine your experience will be great. Service was average, the venue was fun in terms of ambience, and we went to a live show of NPR's Moth radio in the upstairs venue afterwards, which was phenomenal. So, our recommendation would be: dine somewhere nice, then come here for drinks and a show! Happy hour also has cheap beer ($3 rolling rock) if you want to pregame on cheap light beer before a show.
We are usually very easy going and not picky at all but this experience really let us down. The service was terrible from both a server standpoint to the bar to how long it took to get our dinners. I ordered the scallops which were $17 and I was given two small ones on a small bed of corn. We were moving our son into the area but can say for sure we will not be back to this restaurant.
Wow this was bad. The service was abysmal-very, very slow, and the server lacked any focus. They had to keep asking what we ordered! And the food was just gross. We had smoked feta which was the least offensive, served with stale bread which was doused in olive oil. We had scallops (you get two!), Brussels sprouts, short ribs, and chickpea fries. Each course worse than the next. We waited forever for terrible, barely warm food and warm rose. So. Bad.
Love this place! The food is creative and great to share. The drink specials are unique and awesome!
My first time and intend to return. Great food and service.
Way too loud inside and out for brunch...seemed like a dance club. Not enjoyable. It wasn't energetic, it was obnoxious. Great food, though.
Space is amazing. Food is good. Service is consistently poor - surly and uninformed, a remarkably unpleasant combination. Bar staff seems to try to ignore you, even when not busy.
Outstanding food! My wife loves brunch. Which means high quality, fancy, breakfast to me. We made a reservation (I recommend it) for Sunday brunch. They have a quality list of "mock-tails" for my pregnant wife, and some creative adult beverages for me. (Their happy hour drinks are true art and very tasty).
The food - WOW! I had the fired chicken sandwich and it was amazing. My wife had the standard breakfast which was amazing (get the cheddar cheese on the eggs, very worth it).
We will be back for dinner to taste the chefs culinary art soon. I highly recommend the food here. The service was just okay. The support staff were on POINT. Water was always full, and dishes cleared quickly. However, our server was slower and less attentive then I would prefer for the price point.
I've eaten at Promontory many times (20+ times at least) and while the service can be hit or miss, this was single-handedly the worst experience I've had there. Our server made multiple mistakes on our order, didn't check on us barely at all (we had to ask another waiter to run our bill!) food was super slow (and incorrect) and worst of all, the food (omelet sardou for both of us) was the most unimaginative and bland dish I've ever eaten at Promontory. It was simply "okay" at absolute best. I know the server felt bad about all of the errors but with all of the combined issues this made for a really disappointing experience. Sadly it was the first time going there with this particular friend, too.
Disappointing. I ordered the tenderloin which arrived to my table cold, had to send it back but they were quick in replacing it. The food was kind of bland and did not support the rave reviews I had heard. Drinks took too long considering there were two bartenders and we were there early Friday evening before it got busy. They even ran out of the hibiscus syrup for the drink that all three of us dining had ordered.
Very happy with my experience this time. Our server was great and the food was excellent.
We were staying in Hyde Park on business & found this gem! We enjoyed a fantastic meal, drinks on a beautiful patio.
I treated my sister to a birthday dinner & show (Maureen Choi). It was our first time at the Promontory and a great experience. The service was excellent and the food outstanding. The waiter surprised my sister with a delicious dessert. I do plan to come again.
We had a great time, the atmosphere is amazing! Will definitely go back!
Frequent diner here. Service was mediocre today. Even though the place was empty, our waiter was preoccupied. Another waiter stepped in who was better. I used to love this place. Now it's hit or miss.
We went for lunch and had a good time. I thought it was a little pricey for burgers and fries. However the burger was very good but my fries were cold which I found to be surprising.
The Promotory Palmer was very refreshing. Kid friendly.
Everything was awesome. Had an awesome cold brew coffee and a sandwich... the server was awesome and he was even having a great trainee. Even though I requested a server that was working that morning. I was not aloud to have them as my server. This is why it a lower score. Specially since I saw the server working and looked like they had clearly room in his area.
The French toast and eggs sardou were incredible. My husband's brunch entree came with a beermosa that was delightfully refreshing. My children loved the French toast. There were quite a few families there for Sunday brunch.
I ALWAYS have the best time at the Promontory. While there are not a lot of vegetarian options, I always like the options they offer. The menu changes frequently. Enjoy food, drink, ambiance!
Excellent food, service was a little slow. Desserts were amazing
Very fine cuisine. Delicious dishes! The hostess is very friendly and helpful.
