Fish and chips was fab. Beef was quite small. Waitress was lovely and so was dessert! Liked the decor
The staff were busy and forgot a couple of drinks, then it took a long time to pay the bill and it was the wrong one, however they managed it well and were very friendly and apologetic and all very genuine. They went out of their way to fit me in a few hours early for my booking.
Roast lamb was v. nice - burnt Yorkshires but otherwise good!! Beef quite overdone, not a great meal.
Great atmosphere in dining room. Very pretty interior.
Will return for another go.
It’s a lovely pub with good beer on tap but the food is pretty awful! The roast was below average and the “southern fried chicken goujons” were simply deep fried frozen chicken nuggets without any seasoning
The service was a bit disorganised, desserts came in stages and we had to ask for spoons. It took a while to get the bill, the last time we ate there was a better service. We will go back but not for a while.
We have been to the royal oak a couple of times, and the food has always been very good.
Really good place for a Sunday roast. Really friendly staff.
Great attentive staff, young but still proffessional. Good food, presented well, pub food and not pretentious. Good live music. overall a nice pub worth a visit
We love this pub in general but realised we had only ever eaten there for their Sunday lunch so we decided to check out eating there not on a Sunday so my partner and I went for a Saturday night.
We were impressed by the specials menu (although the main menu looked nice perhaps if you were in the bar area) so we went with that and we are super impressed.
Lovey food, attentive nice staff, great wine (Blush Rose), nice atmosphere and after if you fancy it then live music in the bar!
It was the first time we visited The Royal Oak and was pleasantly surprised by the experience. We will definitely be visiting again.
Lovely food and excellent service for a special occasions!
we were able to book at the last minute which was good news for us - unfortunately the food wasn't up to the usual excellent standard - edible but not as good as usual.
Nice decor and lovely food and cocktails! It was a bit quiet but that was probably because we the only ones in the restaurant at 12 noon on a Wednesday!!!
Lovely restaurant attached to the pub. Generously accommodated our double buggy! Superb service and great food.
It was a great tasting meal, and they dealt with our three (not that quiet) kids very well. Will definitely go back.
Really good deco, made the experience.
Food and service excellent
Highly recommend and will be back
Really beautiful pub, with great personality staff, delivery exceptional service. Went for a Sunday lunch and had the roast beef - the food was delicious, fresh and hot and served quickly. Followed by the eton mess, which was just superb! Will defo be going back, great for lunch or dinner with children, family or friends, in a laid back, but smart environment!
First visit and loved the Christmassy atmosphere. The service was slow because of a large office party (hence noisy) but we were made aware of this by our waitress when we arrived. Food was very good.
Had a very pleasant lunch at the Oak for our anniversary. Ate Goats cheese salad starter, slow cooked short rib of beef and Eton Mess all of which we enjoyed. We were served by Kelly who seemed very organised and on top of her job. She was also serving two large tables celebrating Christmas and didn't keep anyone waiting. She has a lovely personality, she obviously enjoys her job, you are lucky to have her!
Exceptional food and service, the two staff members (one male, one female) couldn’t do enough and even though it was extremely busy managed to serve us with great ease and prompt. A lovely restaurant and pub with an excellent atmosphere. Bravo
The food at The Royal Oak was delicious. Would definitely recommend to friends and family. The roast is a very decent portion too. 5 out of 5
Here last Sunday. Roast dinner was wonderful.
The staff looking after us and waiting on the tables were wonderful, deserve lots of praise, made our experience even better. Will hopefully be back next week! Thanks!
Food was great , well presented. Staff were friendly and service was good . Lovely cosy atmosphere
We were a group of 8 and all got served very promptly
We love coming here from Walthamstow, and are soon moving to the area - and so it will become our local!
Just a couple of small things I have been disappointed by in my last few visits, which I think they could improve upon quite easily.
The first being, there are never the right ingredients for a Bloody Mary, and tabasco without the Worcester sauce just does not work (the two times before there was no tabasco either).
The second being the slow service - granted it was busy. Our starters came nice and promptly, however, there was a long waiting period until we were served the mains.
The menu has just changed to the winter menu. This was a shame as I was looking forward to trying the duck again. The food was good. My lamb came as a whole piece and would have been better served sliced - as it was a bit hard to cut with the standard table knife. The restaurant was busy and they were down a chef - so the wait was longer than usual - but this was explained as soon as we were shown to our seats - and the waitressing staff were very friendly and provided an attentive service. The restaurant is a lovely dining space and is a very comfortable place to spend time with friends over dinner. Will definitely be back !
A nice family restaurant for a Sunday lunch. The portions were very substantial and all the roasts were enjoyed by our party.
Excellent pub serving up some top quality grub. Would recommend to no end
We had a super dinner on Sunday: thr food was outstanding, the waitress was friendly a d efficient and the food came swiftly. Highly recommended.
The quality of the meal is super delicious. I like going to have my meal there. I took a friend there last Saturday evening and he was absolutely impressed saying how good the meal was! They keep getting better! They have vegetarian options they also can do you vegans when you mention to them. Staff are so nice! Thank you so much!
Our German friends were so impressed with the meal on Saturday evening that we came back on Monday evening for another lovely meal.
Despite booking a table online for 6.15pm on Sunday, my companion and I stood at the front desk for a full 10 minutes before being seated! Not impressed, and being told that they were very busy by the smiley waitress didn't cut the ice either.
We waited under 10 minutes once seated, to order drinks. The nut roast was lovely, but my companions sea bass was a tad on the small side.
We recently took our German friends for a meal to the Royal Oak on a Saturday evening. The service was prompt and the food was to a high standard. The pub it’s self was packed as there was live music on but this didn’t effect the ambience of the restaurant. The food was so good that our friends wanted to go back for another meal before they returned to Germany.
Great atmosphere as usual. Brilliantly attentive staff and delicious Sunday roast.
I had booked a table for 5 adults and 3 children for my birthday. We ate ribs, pizza, various burgers and sausages for the children. Food portions were generous, very tasty and hot, just right for a casual early evening meal that included small people. Some guests had ordered starters but no one could manage a pudding. I had already eaten at the Royal Oak before when I hosted a special birthday meal for 20 for my husband. That was excellent too. Many thanks to the chef and the lovely Kelly who was our waitress.
Lovely food, great service, nice venue
The food was excellent quality. We particularly want to rate Levi, who gave us a fantastic service. She was extremely polite, pleasant, always smiling and nothing was too much trouble to her. Perfect customer service skills.
Food and staff were excellent.
Rack of lamb and the bream.
Great food and service , definitely a restaurant in its own right rather than pub grub . Definitely recommend. Had 3 courses all fantastic.
Birthday lunch on a Saturday, quite quiet which suited us. Service was excellent, really friendly and we all loved the food. Its a treat, but worth it. Will definitely go back
Disappointed with the removal of outdoor play area. It was loved by our children and now the play area has been replaced by an indoor play area for young children and babies. Too young for our kids at 9! The ambience of the pub was good but will not rushed back anytime soon as we go there whilst our children can play. Food was nice but shame that the children play area was gone and replaced by a lot more tables.
Friendly and prompt service, good food presented well, nice welcoming atmosphere while maintaining a "local" feel to the establishment. Look forward to eating there again and strongly recommend a visit.
