Tourterelle

This is one of the best restaurants in the state and an all-time favorite of mine. Highly recommended. Always good service and tasty food. The hostess and resident chef are great.
Any visit to Vermont is incomplete with a dinner at Tourterelle!
Skimping on ingredients and portions doesn't sit well with me. Their delicious Bouillabaisse has been my favorite for years but now seems to have fewer and fewer mussels and less and less fish and other seafood than it once had. This trend has continued through three orders of the stuff, so I can't put it down to oversight. At $28 a serving, this is not how one should treat ones customers. Overall, the restaurant is still recommendable but it has slipped as they seem to cut corners while struggling to increase perhaps just maintain their profits. At this level, it's better to increase prices, since customers in this price range are their for a top notch experience, not to save money.
Table should have been set for 6 but was quickly amended. Cozy dining room with fireplace. Acoustics quite loud. May want to work on that. All hard surfaces.
Great food and drinks. Service and bar service a bit slow though. Could easily be top notch with a few tweaks.
Very cozy but still elegant atmosphere. Lovely wood fire burning in the fireplace to add to the ambiance. Excellent mixed drink from the bar and good wine selection for dinner. Overall perfect dinner experience.
Excellent service and food was perfect. Coffee was old and bitter , milk was 2% and Trap Pilsner was aged and sour . I drink it often and this bottle was bad . Hostess and server were excellent.
As usual, all courses and cocktails were amazing. The service was super. We enjoy our date nights at Tourterelle.
We both had the Bouillabaisse, preceded by salads, and everything was exceptional. I was also impressed with the generosity of our cocktails, which were perfectly balanced. My friend had the raspberry margarita, which tasted like freshly picked fruit, not artificial in the least. My martini had ice crystals on top, the mark of a well shaken (not stirred ;) libation. Our expectations were low and Tourterelle blew us both away, and my friend is a professionally trained chef! Thanks for a lovely evening, on a Wednesday no less!
Such a wonderful find in the middle of Vermont! We love visiting this restaurant.
Middlebury parents weekend
We have been here a few times and love it every time! The menu is special with excellent choices.
Tourterelles never disappoints from the staff, food & atmosphere it is a wonderful dining experience from beginning to end...definitely a favorite!
Fantastic venue to get together and everyone was able to hear each other. Food was spectacular!
As always I our dinner was delicious and very enjoyable.
Wonderful food and atmosphere, great night out.
Wow! I have driven by Tourterelle many times and admired the beautiful setting but never imagined that the dining experience would exceed the view. We were warmly greeted and seated in one of the cozy rooms (that I can imagine in the winter with the fireplace blazing) and loved everything that we ordered. Personal favorites were the fresh vegetable risotto (which was more vegetable than risotto and perfectly portioned) and the lemon dessert (which I can not recall the name of now). My husband had the best caprese I have ever eaten. I can't wait to return.
Love this place. Great food and view includes the Green Mountains and Adirondacks!
The appetizers we ordered — poutine and the paté/terrine plate — were scrumptious. Some of us had the burgers and enjoyed them a lot. The fries were perfect. The bouillabaisse was the best thing any of us ordered. The homemade pasta was excellent. The scallop crepe was the weakest of entres. The only truly disappointing part of the meal was dessert, other than the creme brûlée, which was quite good. The “cakes” were actually just dried out muffins — both the chocolate lava and the financier (almond cake) were far from moist as advertised. The desserts were really bad, which dragged down the rest of the otherwise enjoyable experience.
The dinner was an exercise in perfection
Incredible meal. I was texting a friend that they needed to come check it out while I was still chewing my roll. We did run out of water and it took a bit of time to have place our order but, at the same time, we weren't remotely rushed through our meal. I cannot wait to go back!
From the moment you enter Tourterelle, the hostess & wait staff make you feel welcome and special. The food & the atmosphere at Tourterelle is wonderful so I would highly recommend it as the place to go for any of life's celebrations!
We were decidedly chilly. Perhaps the heat should be turned up a little higher on winter evenings.
Awesome! Kudos!
Thank you for a wonderful celebration of birthdays in our group and accommodating our group of 7 near the fireplace. The service was amazing. Everyone is still raving about the food and a good time was had by all.
Tourterelle is always exceptional. I ordered the boulibaise and it was fabulous. It is a beautiful venue and Christine is the ultimate hostess.
One of our favorite experiences, always well prepared food and excellent ambiance. Attentive, welcoming staff.
Absolutely love this place! It is our go to for a romantic evening alone as well as a fun evening with friends. The wine list is great and the cocktails are tantalizing. The food is always prepared well and delicious. The ambience in any of the rooms, especially when cozied up next to the fireplace on a Vermont snowy night, is always inviting. Thank you for always making our experience great!
Delicious food in a country traditional setting.
Very welcoming with excellent ambiance. The food is well prepared, creative and is served graciously. Always a great experience.
Excellent meal from start to finish. 1st time there, will not be the last! great find.
Very nice staff, and very comfortable atmosphere.
Unfortunately the food was not very good.
My appetizer, tartar, was quite good, my wife's was not.
we both ordered the Arctic char, the plate was beautiful, we took a picture it was so pretty.
The dish was so salty , it was such a shame.
Fabulous as always. This is our favorite restaurant in the area by far. Feels like home. Merci!
We have been coming over the years and have never been disappointed. The food and service are excellent
with an enjoyable ambiance. We look forward to returning this fall.
We had a terrific dinner at Tourterelle. Service was great and food was delicious. Only strange thing was no bread was offered. Seemed off for a french restaurant.
Outstanding! Service as quick and professional, all the dishes ordered were the very best and the ambiance was wonderfully 'Vermonty' with a touch of elegance.
This is our “go to” special place to bring out of town guests or just a quiet romantic dinner for two.
We find the service to be top notch and the cocktails to be “on point”.
The soups are always a treat, as well as the daily specials. The deserts all follow in this flow of unique spins on classic French cuisine. Local and seasonal farm to table that has something for every palette. Just go, you will be greeted by guests coming out telling you how great the food is, seriously, they will.
We’ve been here several times and will be back again. The view of the mountains and the food is terrrific!
The beet soup was a treat for the eye and the palate. The first course arrived quickly, but the main course took a while.
We returned here because we had a very good experience last time , and we’re glad we did!
The service was above and beyond!
We’ll be back.

The three of us had three different dishes, all of which were delicious. Touterelle deserves to be known as one of a select few of the best restaurants in Vermont.
