Tower Oaks Lodge
The decor is Adirondack Rustic. The menu is varied, appetizers, sandwiches, entrees, steaks, and sides. Offerings are imaginative, and from what our party ate (crabcake, cauliflower curry, and duck breast) very tasty. Full bar, some fruit juices, and soda. The dessert menu is definitely worth checking out.
We went here on a whim and were very pleased with the evening. Our waiter took great care of us and was part of the wonderful experience.
My husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and were treated with extra care. The food came out quickly and was delicious. We were then treated to a celebratory dessert. Our table was cozy and the service was outstanding.
Enjoyed a Sunday brunch with family. Great ambience, food was only OK.
Been a while since I had been there. Menu is substantially reduced. Quality has dropped and service has gone downhill as well. Great location and ambiance, but food just not up to par.
nice place ... rustic/comfy. a bit pricey for what you get ...
The ambiance of this restaurant can't be beat -- seating near one of the fireplaces in December is awesome. The brunch menu offered many options. The quiche was one of the best we ever had. The Rueben was loaded with meat and was delicious. Our service was excellent -- hope to go back there soon.
Awesome ambiance, awesome service, awesome food and drink. Had my parents in and took them here to escape leftover turkey. They raved about the experience!
Food was interesting, mostly good, but the service was strange - our 18- and 21-year-old daughters were offered kids' menus; when I ordered a "scotch straight up" the server said the bartender wanted to know what type of glass I wanted it in, and when it arrived it was a scotch and water (ick!); server refilled only one person's water glass and required our help in moving things around on the table . . . etc.
The turkey dinner was absolutely dreadful. The meat was super processed and potatoes undercooked. The only thing satisfactory was the dessert and we had to choose other items because the establishment had run out of standard pies.
Tower oaks can be very good - but it seems that only 1 out of three visits is actually worthy of recommending to anyone..
We were hoping for a great Thanksgiving dinner.the turkey was tough and full of gristle. The food wasn’t warm. The food was soaked in gravy. Gravy should have been served in a gravy boat on the side. A choice of either mashed potatoes or sweet potato should have been given. The apple pie should have been warmed up.
Sorry for such a bad review . Hope you do better next time.
We traditionally have our Thanksgiving dinner at Tower Oaks. A nice place for a celebration.
As always, we were treated to delicious Thanksgiving fare with prompt service and gracious hospitality. Couldn't ask for more.
We took a chance on having our Thanksgiving meal out this year. Lots of things COULD go wrong when a restaurant is serving big crowds. BUT, NONE of them did. Tower Oaks did a great job serving delicious food while providing outstanding service. It was a pleasure to relax and let their cooks and staff take over this special meal. We will look forward to going back next year, and many times in between. This is one of our favorite restaurants. Take a bow, Tower Oaks!
Very lovely Thanksgiving dinner. While two others thought the green beans were "crispy", I thought they could have been cooked just a bit more. Would have preferred stuffing without sausage.
We had a wonderful time at Tower Oaks Lodge for Thanksgiving. All of the waiters, waitresses and other employees were terrific, friendly and fast beyond words. We frequent Tower Oaks for many of our special dinners/lunches. The only disappointment this time was the Thanksgiving turkey dinner. Several years ago, the turkey was carved off the bird. The turkey this year was from a processed breast. We also would have preferred our green beans cooked a little longer. The Riesling was superb. All in all, we love Tower Oaks and will be back soon.
This was our Thanksgiving outing. The venue was very busy (as expected) but very efficient service with very well prepared for the occasion kitchen. Many multi-member families present so it was noisy. Overall - we enjoy it!
They were amazing! Very family friendly place . Loved my visit and thankful for the way they treated me!
Sadly, at this point in time I would not recommend Tower Oaks for their FOOD whatsover, the drinks I would however.
Have been a consistent customer since Clyde's opened but the tastiness aspect of the food has gone downhill. My mother doesn't even care for it any longer.
I took a party of four others with me and they all described it marginal at best.
For myself, I ordered the shrimp cocktail which was very good but my entree of the steak salad in which I requested NO blue cheese did not convey properly it seemed. They did substitute Parmesan for the blue cheese but the salad totally tasted of the blue cheese, hence it was inedible for me. Food server didn't really want to hear about it - no substitutions were suggested, nor adjustment on the check. Couldn't even eat the half the steak pieces because of blue cheese flavor.
We ordered two desserts - choc creme brulee very smooth but the bread pudding was like eating rubber.
Ice cream was good however, food server didn't give a pooh on that comment either. She could see there were just a few bites taken. When she asked if we'd like it wrapped up, we all chimed in NO - tasted like rubber. Didn't matter - no allowance was made on check. I still left a 20% gratuity although I really did not want to. I was a food server (called waitress) throughout my years in college and afterwards - total of eight years. I made sure my customers were somehow satisfied despite something being not liked by my customers.
The bartender (tall fellow, gray hair) was amazing, friendly, fast and most pleasant as were his drinks.
That part I could recommend.
Not coming back for quite a while. Perhaps the sale of the Clyde's group caused some of the foods to be changed out - but not the same quality of years prior.
Location and atmosphere is nice but if you don't have good food, it's not going to make it. Thank you for the opportunity to express my thoughts. A. Sommer
Always superb value!
Perfect place, excellent service (hats off to Herron). My wife and I enjoyed everything, from the scallops and shrimp cocktail to the cream of crap soup, to our entrees - cod with lemon caper butter sauce to the flashed fried trout with hollandaise sauce. I strongly recommend.
First time visit...met an 88 year old in lobby who said this was his favorite restaurant in DC area...now ours...
We were at Clyde's for brunch. My pumpkin pancakes were delicious ! We were in the back room, where I felt transported to a hunting lodge complete with a Moose on the wall , a bear and a cougar lurking by. I loved the decor. The service was attentive and prompt.
A consistent great choice! Food, service and atmosphere all a win.
Both the food and service were good. We went there to celebrate a special occasion. Nothing was offered, unlike Ruth Chris which decorated the tables and provided a special dessert
Service was slow, food was not at the same level of quality as other Clyde’s in the area.
Building is beautiful and interesting, but even though the restaurant was not full at all, they sat us next to a table with crying babies notwithstanding that there were multiple tables available a bit farther away.
Won’t come back. Rather drive to the Clyde’s at Willow Creek Farm.
It was our first date... and we were set up near the fireplace... it was so romantic and peaceful even though the place was packed. I would totally go back and recommend it.
I have been going to Tower Oaks Lodge for about 15 years and I find the menu less interesting today than it was previously. I would like them to bring back old favorites and provide a better selection of choices.
Tower Oaks Lodge is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is consistently delicious. The servers are very attentive. The ambiance is perfect for any occasion.
Food was very good. Ordered a salad but didn’t receive which was ok since the portions were large. Especially liked the calamari . The waitress was very nice and attentive . No criticisms at all. Great experience as usual. Have been coming for years and will continue.
Very nice location! We went there repeatedly in the last months and it was always a pleasure. Great food!
I live locally and have been to this Clyde's three times in the last three weeks. Two of the three times, the gal at the front desk - Shenille - was rude and unprofessional. Heaven forbid you ask her a simple question such as "Is it possible to sit in a quieter area of the restaurant?" You should not have to contend with a roll of the eyes and a smart, snarky response. I mentioned my experience to a colleague who visits Clyde's frequently and she immediately knew who I was speaking of and has had similar experiences. It was a super turn off and I won't be returning any time soon - left a very bad taste in my mouth, and an incredibly poor impression of your restaurant.
It was a wonderful Sunday brunch with family!
Very good service &food!
There were 6 of us in our party and we were crammed into a bar booth, even though I had a reservation. I requested a table, but was told it would be 30-40 mins. before one was available. It was very uncomfortable.
Our waiter was scarce and had a bit of an attitude when we asked about a cup of coffee that was ordered, even though other beverage orders came.
We usually like Tower Oaks and chose it to celebrate my birthday there with out-of-town guests that had not been there before. It was not a good representation of your restaurant for them.
We had a good overall experience, but it was not as nice as usual. The restaurant was extremely busy the night we dined, and our service was slow. Our entrees took a long time to arrive. The order was correct. Some of the food was not hot when served; I suppose one entree was ready first and sat for a few minutes. The fish and crabcake tasted fine. Even though the reservation had mentioned this was a birthday occasion, nothing special was done to honor that. We like this restaurant and will return; however, we hope for a better visit next time.
we were seated right away, which is great. we couldn't carry on a conversation because we were seated in the bar area.
Great like always! My mom's Birthday was very good!
Lovely ambiance totally transports you to a mountain lodge and the service was the most attentive I’d gotten in a while. Great place for brunch with the family and special occasions to celebrate with large groups too.
Birthday cake with a candle was a nice touch. Food was very good.
