We had lunch at Trace before going to SF MOMA...the service and food options were excellent! Thank you for a great experience.
First - a great choice given the no corkage policy on weekends - very unique and appreciated. We went on a Friday night - very few other diners. Menu is modest in size, but what we had was great - mainly fish. They have a bread service as well which was appreciated and generous portions were an extra plus. Service was attentive and our waiter was charming. No doubt we will return.
chicken breast was dry (your signature dish). other than that the food was awesome! especially the brussels sprouts and caesar salad
The food was really terrible, horrible. None of the dishes any of us ordered were palatable. The worst we have ever experienced in San Francisco. Consequently none of us finished our meals. VERY DISAPPOINTING.
The woman who waited on us Sierra, was wonderful. If it weren’t for Sierra, we would have asked for a refund, based on principal.
Service and food were perfect
Service and our meals were outstanding. Roger, our waiter, was exceptional. Great evening.
Food and service was exceptional! Thank you Alvin, Phat, your wonderful host and the W Living Room bar staff. They all provided an amazing experience for me and my family!
Feeling blessed to have lunch here after my wedding in the city hall: Wonderful location. Inside is clean, quiet, and beautiful (maybe not many people in the middle of the week?). We were greeted warmly, and the food was just fabulous. I ordered squash (super delicious) and my husband had salmon, which was so fresh and melting in the mouth!! The chief even congratulated us with a lovely desert. I made the best decision here☺️👏👏
Great brunch - terrific service.
The noise coming from the bar was inescapable and horrible, even in the rear of the restaurant. Not the first time but especially bad that evening. There should be a wall between the two.
I doubt if I’ll return, as good as everything else was,
All of the food was outstanding. We wanted food that was elegant and got that. We also enjoyed being able to hear ourselves talk. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Based on Open Table's review of Trace, my expectations for the quality of food I could expect were high. Yes, the quality of the food was extremely high, but except for the cream of cauliflower soup, which was fabulous, I thought the food lacked the complexity of flavors I was anticipating from Chef Frédéric Hoffmann. It certainly did not reflect, according to Open Table, a San Francisco personality of "an enriching and thoughtful culinary experience by fusing the vibrant, local personality of the Bay Area." While the food was beautifully presented, and the vegetables were perfect, delicious, and definitely of the highest quality, the flavors of the whipped potatoes, turkey, gravy, and stuffing, lacked creative flavors and complexity. All the food was obviously excellent in quality and could stand on its own merits, especially if you're a novice home cook, but it was definitely lacking in uniqueness for a professionally trained chef.
In spite of all this, I do want to to emphasize how thoughtful and polite the staff was, and especially how wonderful our server was. Our family did have a wonderful time and I appreciated being able to relax and enjoy a conversation with my husband and daughter without popping up from the table to serve the next course. In addition, there was no kitchen mess to clean up!
Offered Gluten Free bread/buns. Reuben sandwich the best I have tasted.
Great brunch experience at Trace. We had the brunch burger and the avocado toast, and shared the Liege waffle. Really good cocktails and coffee that tasted fresh and strong. They offer a 10% discount to locals for breakfast, lunch and brunch. I'm sure we will be back!
Great weekend brunch menu!!
My experience was excellent. From the host to the end, service was excellent. The food was great, and not filling. I have no negative comments at all. This is a sweet, quiet upscale place to go with customers for a business dinner from a date for 2. Will definitely come back when I am in town.
Good setting and service for a business meal. I was very happy with the experience. The food was a little pricey, and the menu had fewer choices then expected though.
Food, drinks, and service were all excellent. Highly recommend
We brought our son, his girlfriend and her parents here for our son’s birthday. Food was great as was service. We sat in the bar for a drink beforehand which was the perfect place to meet up.
I love Trace and I go regularly for lunch.
The food is fabulous and I never get tired of it. The best unique and light Caesar salad, one of the best burgers in the city with yummy crispy fries, and many other interesting options.
The best of all is the friendly and professional service.
We purchased the TravelZoo dinner package. The shared plate of tuna and starters (pluot and peach salad, scallops) were excellent. Very good flavor combinations, fresh ingredients. and great colors on the plate. The main entree was disappointing. I ordered the steak and my daughter ordered the Branzino. The plate was full of brown food and it did not look appealing at all. Flavor of the steak was mediocre and the mushrooms were dry. Service was excellent.
Easy to like this place for a business lunch. Easy to find, food was good and in large portions. Service was attentive without being intrusive.
Great deal with Travelzoo voucher!!! Restaurant and food were great and service was even better.
Very nice decor and outstanding food!
This was a business lunch and needed a spot near Moscone. Quickly seated and pleased they offer a brunch menu along with lunch.
My guest had a very nice hot sandwich an I had a killer Eggs Benedict with fruit. Nothing in SF is cheap, but I thought the prices were very fair for the quality!
Food and service were very good. We had the brussels spouts, Salmon and Branzino. Wine was reasonably priced. Very close to Moscone center so works well if at a convention. It was quite despite being in the W Hotel which can be loud in the lobby.
This is a lovely restaurant. We are early so the adjacent bar was playing loud music which was a distraction. However the service was pleasantly attentive and the food was excellent. Best pork tenderloin dish I’ve ever had. Generous portions. We will go back when we are in town again.
Good place for business breakfast and lunch. Very close to the Moscone convention center which is great.
Recommended for service, ambiance and food.
Perfect food and service
The restaurant, the ambience, the service, the food, was all remarkable. The only bad taste left with our dining experience was when we got the check. We purchased a coupon through Travel Zoo for a dinner for two. When the check came, a $35.00 fee was added to the bill (plus the expected tax, SF employee fee, etc.), and we were told it was a fee charged by Travel Zoo to the restaurant and passed on to us. We adamantly objected and told the server we were NOT going to pay that fee. The server was very accommodating and after apparently speaking to the manager, the fee was removed from the check. It was handled very well and thanked the server and the manager. Not sure who was responsible but all’s well that ends well. We will go back to Trace but not with a Travel Zoo coupon.
Perfect service, great food: Avocado Toast, Pancakes and scrambled Eggs. Yummy
Had lunch with a partner during VMWorld. If you're thinking of having a business lunch during any Moscone event, an OpenTable reservation is a must. Got there at 11:30 when they open for lunch, by about noon the place was full. Service was super fast, and my salmon may have been the best I've ever had. Can't go wrong here.
