Trestle is one of the best dinners in the City. Fantastic food, fantastic service, and a fantastic value.
This is one restaurant that you should seek out and experience. Reservations are recommended and easy via Open Table. I booked this Prix Fixe dinner for my wife's birthday. We had just taken a Sunset sail and figured that it tough to top that experience but this was even better than can be imagined. Parking was easy as a garage was right next door. We arrived a few minutes early and were seated immediately. They even presented my wife with a birthday note from the owner and staff. A great touch. This restaurant has a prix fixe meal of 3 courses for $39 with an add on pasta at $10. For $49, you have a choice of two appetizers, 2 mains, and two desserts and you can pasta for $10 and you have two choices. My wife and I added the pasta course and we sampled all the choice being offered. We started with an Heirloom tomato salad and the Red Pepper soup. Both were outstanding and unique but the soup on a cold night was perfect, with some peppers and croutons neatly diced in a bowl before being served tableside. The next course, optional, brought a Linguine E PEPE and a Chestnut Risotto. The chestnut Risotto was the star of this course with its rich and creamy texture. The mains followed with a Crispy Skinned Salmon and Seared Pork Belly. Both outstanding and just the right size. I would order the Pork Belly again and again. Great Combination. The desserts followed and again were top-notch as we had a Kuri Squash Pie and Chocolate Cremeux. Both were tasty but the chocolate was impressive. We ended with coffee. The wine list is great but corkage is reasonable when compared to other San Francisco prices. You should also ask for bread and butter which was very tasty and fit with the other courses. This restaurant is an amazingly priced experience for a special occasion or a once a week experience. It is a little off the beaten track but worth finding. Their menu updates are almost daily with its farm to tab
First time at Trestle, and loved our dinner there! Amazing value with three courses for $39, and terrific diversity across the three courses despite only two choices per course. They were relaxed about swapping in a pasta course instead of the main course, which was appreciated. Will definitely be back!
I love eating at Trestle. The food is always just a baby step before total high end gourmet. The bill is an amazing surprise in that, for SF prices and that it is a fixed price meal. The staff are attentive and friendly. I will be going back often.
Fresh, excellent food!
🍲 I read in many reviews that the portions were small but I didn't think so. We still ordered the pasta and didn't regret it: they were so tasty!
🍺 Take the time to look at the drink menu: they have beers from all over Europe.
🙋🏻♀️ Service is very kind and efficient.
📢 As a French, I find most American restaurants are almost unbearable because of the noise but Trestle is actually almost quiet for American standards.
💞 Perfect for a date night, double date night or a night out with 4+ friends.
Trestles was off this time. The food was good in general but the pastas were loaded with butter and cheese. The chocolate dessert mouse was too sweet. For some strange reason, the service was quick to bring out the food but they would forget everything else you need (such as pepper and extra drink).
We loved it! It was a small, chic neighborhood place with a Prix fix menu of 4 courses, each with 2 choices. All were tempting on the night we were there. The squash risotto was our favorite. The wine list has many interesting choices at reasonable prices. I will highly recommend to friends.
Excellent value and cozy atmosphere. Very high value.
Went to celebrate a birthday. The food was amazing but the portions are small. Definitely add at least one pasta to your dinner. Great wines too!
one of the top 5 restaurants I have been to this year
I brought my parents, aunt, and cousin here (for the first time) and they absolutely loved it. I have been here multiple times and will definitely be back!
Phenomenal food, wine and service!
They were attentive. I ordered a bottle of white wine and they always checked up on you to see if you need a refill
Fantastic food, fantastic service, fantastic value.
The service here was outstanding! Food was incredible, every dish had so much flavor and was so fresh. The timing of receiving each dish was perfect and the waitstaff was very attentive. We left very satisfied and very full. This will become a regular when visiting San Francisco!
A delicious, comforting, hearty and well crafted meal for a price that is very reasonable. A very enjoyable experience overall.
Best dinner we have had in a long time!
Trestle was INCREDIBLE. We had the best time, each dish was delicious and so unique. Get the pastas!!! Staff was so friendly, loved it and will go back!!
Fantastic food at an exceptional price with excellent service.
I love Trestle! It's a fancy dining experience at a great value, so I always tip well! If you're not gluten sensitive, I highly recommend ordering the bread at the start of your meal (the butter and salt is sooo fresh).
Only down 1 star because of some technical things —sometimes you'll have to wait, despite having a reservation. Also it gets REALLY hot in here because there's hardly any ventilation. Wouldn't go on a first date here, personally, because I always feel like I leave kind of steamy. It also gets pretty loud in here, because it's packed! But, always fun and I genuine leave STUFFED no matter if I order extra or not.
So much fun!
Love the concept. Great food, good selection of wine and beer and outstanding service!
Food, value, service, and ambiance was great!! The only problem I had was that the tables were so close that my partner and I found it “too close for comfort.”
As always, Trestle does not disappoint. The staff is extremely welcoming and helpful with food and wine selections. The menu is streamlined with great options for all. It is a small dining room so be prepared to get cozy!
Perfect option for those who are happy with family style, everyone gets to try everything and everything was perfect.
Really like the place. I was recommended by a Very good friend. Who is delicious I will go back again.
A really nice experience - where else can you get that for a reasonable price.
Great food, but the noise level was regretfully much too high
Have eaten at Trestle many times over the years & can always count on warm, friendly service plus an excellent menu created by the chefs. A place to take friends & family for a great meal or a special occasion (or both).
Ambience: The furnishings are a bit spare for my 60-year-old frame. Food: green curry soup was excellent (many subtle flavors); gnocchi had a nice sauce but were hard (baked? pan-fried? why?), short ribs were quite good but my husband's food was tepid; pot de creme was uninteresting, like chocolate pudding (not in a "pot," heavy rather than light, not the intense flavor I expected). And figs don't go with chocolate, I've decided.
Service: attentive, but servers were instructed to repeat every single ingredient when the dish was presented. With a prix fixe menu that I had just read, this seemed redundant. Sometimes they were too attentive, frequently refilling my water glass and beer glass. I like to pour my own beer, and I don't drink much water, but staffers were buzzing around so quickly I didn't have a chance to explain. There was a long time gap between the soup and the gnocchi, so I guess they didn't want us to feel forgotten.
Overall, the food was pleasant but, with the exception of the soup, not enough to bring us back. I wish you luck, but we'll keep looking for our new favorite place.
P.S. I might recommend to a friend but the only choices were yes/no.
Too slow, 4 dishes spent more than 2 hours, but the table beside us, come in late than us about 1hour, and we finished at the same time. Can’t believe that...
The food was delicious and nicely presented. As other reviewers have mentioned, it was quite noisy and the seating is very close together so don't expect a lot of romantic privacy here. That said, I would definitely go back when the menu looks good again.
Outstanding food and service. Trestle is the perfect location for a date. Highly recommend!
Love this place! Awesome food, fantastic service and great value for the quality ingredients. It’s nice to have a place where the staff takes pride in what they do without the pretense. We need more approachable places like this in the city. The $250 pre fixes have gotten a little out of hand. I’d choose here any day and trust me I’ve been to many of the top places around.
Lovely little place with delicious food.
Amazing! We finally got to Trestle after recommending it to many friends, and it did not disappoint! All around awesome!
Delicious food at a very reasonable price. Servers were wonderful, but there were long stretches of waiting time between our courses. It's a small space so the tables are all quite close together and the place is quite loud. But we'd definitely come back for another yummy meal!
The corn chowder soup was super good. The waiter and servers were top notch.
Food and service was great but the noise level was unbearable. If you want to carry on a conversation, be prepared to yell!
Very well executed food!
