Great food and out vegetarian in the group loved it.
The food was so overpriced and overly sweet. We ordered the ribs dish for $26; sweet and there was only 5 pieces of 1 inch in size meat; and one big piece of the rib bone which barely has any meat attached. This other big plate of pork belly wrap ( forgot what it’s called) was over $40, was the only non sweet dish; was very salty and not worth the price. Just because it’s called a “bistro” vs a traditional Korean restaurant doesn’t mean that they can overprice the food. If food was good, I would mind the price, but it was not and the ambience was not all there any how.
Food was delicious and served promptly- everything tasted fresh and authentically Korean -- there was a nice variety of wines, beer and cider , too
I had a date night with my husband on a Saturday night. Didn’t wait very long to be seated, the restaurant was clean with a small dining area. The food was delicious (5 stars!) especially the belly and dak buns! I had the beef bibimbap and my husband had the kalbi which were both wonderful. If you don’t mind understated decor, wood tables that looked like the varnish was scratched off (couldn’t tell if they meant to do this) and oversized menus with paper inserts, then just forget I mentioned it. The food was great!! Will definitely come back.
Great meal, dak (chicken) and pork buns are outstanding and the Bimbibop so good!
A very random experience. My wife goes here quite a bit with her friends (during the week) and has always said it was a good experience. Apparently Friday nights are different. We were seated quickly but it took a while for a waiter to come over. When he finally did, he took our drink and appetizer order. He brought the wine over and set the bottle and 2 glasses and set them in the table. Didn’t open the bottle or pour any into our glasses. I’ve never seen that before. One of our appetizers came but the other did not. After 20 minutes I asked about it and then they brought it out. No apology or anything. Entrees came and were lacked in the table. Usually the wait staff mixes up the Bibimbop as a courtesy but this time nothing. Food was ok but the overall experience was less than stellar
Had the spicy rice cakes and various sticky buns as apps really good. Was hoping for korean beer but they ran out not the end of the world will definitely go bsck
Great place - delicious food, friendly service, impressive beer selection. Important to note it's not like your typical Korean barbecue in the city ie you don't cook your own meant and there's actual entrees to be ordered. It's not meat and 100 small dishes of random things.
Our appetizer came after our entree without so much as an apology. We were eating less than 90 min when the staff placed two tables adjoining our and hovered expectantly waiting for us to pay and leave for a larger group. I do not think I will dine there again.
Awesome. Love everything about it.
Spicy pork buns where we stuff it ourselves were excellent. Bibimbap in stone plate was also good and the kimchi stew was hot and spicy. We enjoyed the food. The server/manager was accommodating and fast.
We shared the combo buns and rice cakes as appetizers then ordered kalbi, bulgogi, grilled chicked, bi bim bap for entrees and lemon custard fried buns for desert. Everything was delicious. The owner really likes to share information about the Korean culture and food with his guests. Enjoy some cold soju to start your meal off.
I haven’t dined here in several years. I ordered Bibimbop and my friend ordered Kimchee jigae. Bibimbop was tasty and came with creamy sauce as well as the traditional gochujang sauce. Wish it was accompanied by a bowl of soup. My friend liked her dish. It came in a hot stone bowl so it was sizzling hot.
The only bad thing about this night was that the waiter never checked on us. He was friendly enough but after he dropped off the food, he didn’t return until we were finished. We could have used some more side dishes but perhaps they don’t refill banchan.
Very good food & nice ambiance. The food was kinda pricey & the service was good but not great
Excellent Korean food with exceptional flavor. The buns are remarkable and the bibmbop is second to none in the stone bowl.
We went to dinner at 4:30 on New Years Eve at Ttowa. We were seated as soon as we arrived. We come here a few times a year for lunch and have always been satisfied and this visit was no exception. The food was very good—I had a seafood and pork with noodles in a spicy broth, another had Dak Kalbi, a fire-roasted chicken dish and the third person in our party had noodles with soft tofu in a spicy broth. The service was very professional and helpful despite the large crowd and were sold out for the rest of the evening. They did not have a couple of appetizers we wanted to order. The waitress explained they had been very busy the night before and ran out of some items. We did order other appetizers which everyone enjoyed. Ttowa is a very small restaurant and the staff did their best to wait on us and other customers while the restaurant was full. I did not feel rushed at all and appreciated our server’s attention to detail. I will be back again for dinner.
Super great mandoo & over the top grilled chicken in addition to tge usual stellar entrees
Food is excellent.
This restaurant is a hidden gem. I hate to make it too popular of a place or I will only be able to get carry-out! Seriously, the dishes are spectacular and fresh. The wine list is simple but good. It is an excellent Korean restaurant.
Ttowa might be my favorite restaurant in Arlington Heights. The food is amazing, the owner is the nicest guy ever. He is always willing explain things so this is a great place to introduce people to Korean food. Everything on the menu is great and is great value. The one downside is that on nights when it gets very, very busy they can sometimes run out of things on the menu. Like the buns especially. With everything else being so good, it is not a deal breaker, but if you definitely want a specific item going earlier or for lunch would be a great idea.
Highly recommended. Great for dates and for families. I have taken my young child there and she loves it.
Always delicious and fresh ingredients. Great beer choices too
Our tradition for the last several years has been to dine at Ttowa. We bring the whole family and always enjoy the food and welcoming atmosphere. Fantastic place.
They never disappoint! Food is delicious!
The food was fine - but service lacked. We were told they ran out of menus so the group of us had to share - the restaurant wasn't even full - shouldn't you have enough menus for the seats within your restaurant? Service was also very slow in the beginning and then we felt like we were being rushed while we were eating our appetizers to make decisions about the entree. Also all four of us that were at the table were served our entrees at different times even though we ordered together. The first came out while the appetizer was still on the table and the last was served probably 20 minutes later. Also they ran out of cooked rice so we had to wait for rice to be cooked - but they still served our meat portion. We also had to request several times for them to refill the side dishes and even when we asked for specific ones - they Brought out whatever appeared to be sitting there.
Waited an hour past our reservation.
Great service and food!
This place has amazing food and the staff are fantastic. It just always seems to be understaffed. They do the best they can.
Always reliable and delicious. Great food, good beer selection.
Great place to try for this type of food. Food was good. Food was hot. Service was just ok. Our appetizer came at the same time as our meal and there was no apology or Comp for it. Also there was a loud group behind us but I understand that’s not within their control. We will be back.
Great food and super service. Will definitely be going back.
Understaffed, dirty tables everywhere, a little rude. Food ok, I was hoping for great Korean food closer to home. In short disappointed.
I really wanted to like it, because service was so friendly. But the food for me was lacking. Nothing stood out. Or was amazing. Portions is on smaller side. Pricing is high. Much prefer to spend money on Korean BBQ
Korean BBQ-different and delicious! Generous portions. They also serve small side dishes - I particularly liked the potato salad
The food was amazing. However service was terrible. Waited a long time for someone to come over and ask us about drinks. So when someone finally came over we ordered drinks and food. Food came out relatively quick, but then never saw our waiter again unless we flagged him down. No asking if we wanted more drinks, more food, it was shame because the food is so good.
Nice to have a Korean dining experience in the NW suburbs. A wonderful change of pace. Food was excellent and service was great. The side of potato salad was unusual and delicious.
Loved the food and our server I think ms. Choi?
Very warm though probably due to hot stone bowls.
Will definitely come back.
Always great food!
Food was really delicious, dak buns are a good starter. Lots of craft beer selections too, service staff was extremely nice and welcoming
I love bringing people here and surprising them with how delicious it is. The food is always outstanding and the service is exceptional. Terry and Zach know how to do it all right!
