We ate outside in a beautiful tent like setting. The service and the food were very good. The only disappointment was for the deviled eggs which had no flavor. But the flavor of everything else made up for this. Can’t wait to come back.

We have eaten at Wayfare a few times and it has been exceptional, however, last night they were a little off. Oysters served with all the other starters, corn soup grainy, main dishes served Luke warm, popovers weren’t warm, one steak under cooked , we couldn’t eat the carrots, and the peach dessert served cold. It wasn’t a pleasant dining experience last night like previous times. We did love the bone marrow dish-it was the best thing we had all night! When you spend close to $600 for 4 you want it to be worth it and last night it wasn’t. We are looking forward to trying Tyler’s new restaurant. We did see Tyler last night and that was pretty cool.

Amazing food and service all round.
We had the beef tartar, tavern burger, and fried chicken. All was above expectations. Even the bread was outstanding. Wish we had saved room for dessert. Menu had something for every taste and it was hard to choose! We will be back many many times. Service was also really amazing- attentive, friendly, and informative.

The worst service I can remember in a very long time. We had a 7:30 reservation. Table was ready when we got there. At 8:10, we still didn’t have so much as a drink.

Finally our drinks arrived and the waiter took our food order, which included oysters, starters and main course.

First they brought out our starters, rather than oysters. Ok, fine. Not what we’re used to, but at least we got some food.

When we asked what type of oysters they have, the waiter told us: west coast, small and sweet or East coast, larger and brinier. We said, small and sweet, please. What we got instead were big, super briny ones.

The appetizers were bleh. The tartare was more like pate than tartare. The tomatoes in the tomato salad were tasteless (and it’s tomato season). The burrata was pretty good.

At 9:15, we still don’t have our main course. At this point, we need to go; we’re going to a show. I ask them to cancel our mains and give us the bill. The hostess says she’ll get the manager and disappears for a while. Suddenly, our food comes. We’re scarfing it down to be able to finish in time to make it to our show.

To their credit, they did take the appetizers off the bill, which still came out to $75 per person.

Take your hard earned money and eat somewhere else.

The place is great. The food is tasty. But had to wait too long for the waiter to get us a drink. The entrees came late as well. Pretty pricey for what you get and the constant upselling is annoying.

I have been wanting to come to this place in a long time. Originally, my husband and I were going to have our wedding reception here, but then covid happened. So for our 6 month anniversary, we decided to try it.
Since we made a reservation the same day, we had to eat outside, which was cute enough, though I wish we could
Have go inside, because it’s beautiful and cozy.
Apart from that, the food and service is amazing. We had the fried chicken, which has to be the very best fried chicken we ever had, and it came with equally awesome fries. We also ordered the mussels which were also outstanding. Everything is so flavorful and perfectly done. The only thing I didn’t love was my drink. I ordered the Portola spirit, and it was too sweet and watered to my taste, so I wouldn’t have that again, but I would definitely come back.
Prices were justified in my opinion. Very good experience overall.

Quickly seated. Popovers we’re great but food was only ok (we had 12 people so most of the menu was tasted).

Big issue was service. Drinks too forever to arrive and refills ( another glass of wine or another soda) took forever. Clearing of plates or first courses was also very slow. Overall the service was lacking and uncoordinated. Expected better.

This place used to be so good! They totally changed their fried chicken sandwich and it was practically unpalatable:( My friend returned hers and I ate the bun. They should make it clear that the meat is no longer a breast...it's a thigh that looked very discolored. The fries came out cold. The deviled eggs were the only redeeming part of the meal and our waiter was very nice. This is the first negative review I've ever left...

We dined indoors at Wayfare and wished afterward that we had requested an outdoor table. The restaurant was noisy and seating was cramped. Service was slow, and the food was expensive ($11 for a side of mashed potatoes, $34 for a salad with salmon...) A nice dinner, but some strong negatives.

First time at this establishment. We went for a very late lunch at 4 pm. We enjoyed the corn chowder but wished it actually had some corn kernels in it. We both had the buttermilk chicken and it was tasty and very moist, would definitely have it again, probably not the corn chowder.
We ordered a couple of Kentucky Mules, after 2 tries the bartender finally got it right. It was very nice of them to keep taking our drinks back until it was right. So very nice aim to please attitudes.
Very upscale Tavern, check their menu out!
I definitely want to go back again.

We had business lunch for 5ppl. Service was great and food was outstanding. I've been here a number of times. The fried chicken and burger is what they hang their hat on, but everything I've had here has been very very good.

Enjoyed the food and drinks. The only issue was finding a parking. Didn’t realize you could not park on the side of the street across from the restaurant from 3-6pm and our reservation was at 5:15pm. So we had to pay for parking at a parking lot 3 blocks away. I had the pork chop and my husband had the mussels. We also tried the Mac n cheese and devils egg. The devils eggs are to die for and the Mac and cheese was so creamy and delicious. Might be the best Mac and cheese I have had so far. Both dinners were very good but I liked my pork chop way better than the mussels. A bit on the pricey side for what we got but still enjoyable. For dessert I had the donuts and my husband had the coffee cheese cake. The coffee cheese cake was interesting , had a strong coffee flavor masking the cheese cake flavor but the donuts were so yummy. Everything was really good. Will definitely be back when we are in the area again.

Not the level of service you would expect. We planned to get wine with dinner telling the sever when we ordered our first drink. She took the wine menu at that point, forgetting our intent to order a bottle (after we finished our cocktail). We reminded her and asked for the wine menu as we knew our order would be ready soon and our drinks were empty. Many minutes went by and needless to say our wine didn’t get ordered/arrive until 5-10 minutes after our entrees came out. We also indicated on Open Table it was our anniversary but not even a greeting or personal touch was added. Not sure what I expected but this was nothing more than standard chain restaurant service. Food was also acceptable (presentation was nice but side of potatoes was the consistency of soup.)

The oysters we ordered went to another table. A staff member apologized and replaced our champagne which had become warm. He also suggested excellent wines and was very attentive. The delicious fried chicken, the staff member’s attentiveness, the wonderful carrots and bread simply made for a wonderful birthday dinner!

Really great experience for brunch after a busy SF weekend. Quiet, romantic with excellent service. Beautiful old-tavern decor, food is bright and colorful. Our favorite was the mussels (see picture)
