Absolutely outstanding from the time we pulled into the property from the time we left. Courses were perfect portioned and the timing of them was perfect. Everyone was incredibly attentive. It was the best meal we’ve ever had, definitely a 5-star dining experience. Do not miss this when traveling to Kennebunkport!
Food fabulous. The rest just OK and a bit disappointing. The bartender climbed on top of the bar to reach the liquor. No umbrella assistance the the pouring rain. Had to wait 5 minutes once inside just to be acknowledged. So disappointing. Chef needs a new front of the house staff.
Amazing meal and service. Live piano music was wonderful
This place is an iconic, high scale, and great place to eat. The service is impeccable, quality is a high focus, and a very quiet and romantic spot. Our only gripe is we felt very rushed between courses. Plan to spend $150 minimum per person.
Wow, what a great experience! The decor and ambiance was elegant, every plate that came out of the kitchen was perfect, and the service was on point. The entire experience was outstanding!
A true gem - one of the best restaurant experiences ever! The food is spectacular and the service beyond perfect. Every need is anticipated, discretely, quietly but quickly. We could only get a reservation for our anniversary at 9pm (which is a bit late for us). I rang and they moved us to 8:30 but said show up around 8 and we will seat you as soon as we can. We were at the table by 8:15. The food is creative, inventive (like the mini lobster roll with truffle and caviar) but never weird or just for show. The oyster with the dry ice is wonderful theatre but also an amazing dish. For the non-lobster eaters, their steaks are fabulous. Their dessert soufflés are superb. I can't wait to go back.
Exceptional all around.
The service and food were both exceptional. I would highly recommend the lobster tagliatelle - typically I am skeptical of a pasta dish, but it was beautifully done.
What a wonderful experience. Loud group next to us but it was fine. Front of house staff was AMAZING !
This restaurant is amazing! The food is exceptionally prepared and the wine pairing are done very nicely. The service is amazing. After dinner, our car service abandoned us at the restaurant and the hotel staff was so kind to take us back to our hotel in one of their hotel vehicles. It was an extremely kind gesture! We cannot wait to go back!
We showed up at the restaurant at the designated time and requested to be pushed out by an hour which the restaurant agreed to do. When we showed up again, the host told us " I can't let you in because you are wearing shorts" in those very words. This guy is so used to sucking up to old rich white people that he needs to feel important and powerful when POC show up for dinner. Mind you this restaurant is located in a beach town where the temperature was well over 85 degrees. What era is this that he will let white people in blue jeans into the restaurant but not a POC wearing dressy Polo shorts? I have eaten at Sandy Lane and Blue Hill wearing shorts but not at White Barn! He let us sit at the bar at the entrance but that's as far in as we were allowed. Unless you are over 60, white and rich, don't bother with this White restaurant! Despicable!
A most memorable meal! Greg and the entire staff made the night very special for us. The chef’s lobster tasting menu was exquisite, especially the courses with the avocado mousse, pasta, and halibut. The piano playing was perfect. Thank you all!
Excellent. Wonderful. Everything was spot on. Best wait staff anywhere! Our favorite foods: lobster bisque, ribeye, chocolate soufflé and beet agnolotti. This is an exquisite place to have an anniversary dinner.
Phenomenal food, service and atmosphere. A very special experience all around.
In a word, spectacular! Everything was delicious, the service was outstanding and our only regret is that we don't live close by so we could return more often than our once a year visit. Thanks for another lovely experience!
There is a reason why this restaurant has 5 stars from Forbes and 5 diamonds from AAA--the food is delicious and creative, the service is impeccable and the ambience is second to none. From beginning to end, the evening could not have been better. First of all, the service from Nils was professional, yet friendly; he would be as conversational as you wanted him to be. The maître d' from Jakarta, Indonesia was likewise extremely personable as well as professional, and we engaged in a wonderful discussion. The assistant server from Jamaica was also friendly and attentive. As for the food, there were the nice touches normally associated with a restaurant of this caliber, such as multiple types of butter, a candy "tree" after dessert and a gift to take home, but the courses themselves were amazing. The amuse bouche was a chilled soup made with pineapple, coconut, cantaloupe, honeydew melon and lime with trout roe on top--just wow; it was phenomenal. For my first course, I ordered the beef tartare atop roasted bone marrow with crispy shallots and mustard aioli served with 4 small slices of toasted brioche--just delicious. For my second course, I had the lobster bisque with expresso crème fraiche and olive oil; there were sizable chunks of lobster in the bisque. It was excellent. For my third course, I ate the beef tenderloin with a foie gras crust that was served with a potato puree, maitake mushrooms, baby carrots and summer truffles. The dish was fantastic. For my fourth course, I had the chocolate soufflé with the vanilla crème anglaise. It was great. If you are in search of the pinnacle of fine dining, this is it.
Fourth visit and always the highlight of our dining experience in the area. Thank you for maintaining excellence in everything you do!
Amazing food and better service.
On the recommendation of a friend I went here for my 5 year anniversary and it did not disappoint. The small plates were all glorious (lobster Bisque being my favorite). I only wish I went with the 6-course tasting, 4-course was great so you win either way :). But what made it particularly special was the level of service. In addition to getting constant attention I happened to wear shorts (don't do that) and the staff was nice enough to drive me to my hotel to grab a pair of pants and get right back to the dinner. If you're going to Kennybunkport for a special occasion this is a MUST visit!
Everything about our dinner was spectacular- from the moment we walked in to the final bite. One person in our party is vegan and they were gracious and accommodating. The food was stellar. The ambiance was elegant yet relaxing. The service was attentive and coordinated. Our family agreed this was the best meal of the summer!
Best restaurant on the East coast by far!
The service was tremendous. Nathan and all severs were super pleasant and knowledgeable about each course. The pate was amazing and the lemon semifreddo for dessert was uniquely delicious. We loved it!
Best restaurant experience ever - and we eat in NYC and Miami to name a few places with great eating. Greg and the white barn team were Amazing at managing our dairy allergy. The wine pairings are not to be skipped. It was phenomenal.
This was my second time dining here. What a treat everything is superb and the creativity outstanding it is a must to add to your bucket list of places to dine!!!
Everything was excellent! A memorable meal and experience!
The setting, ambiance and service were excellent. The staff were friendly and attentive. The menu was prix fixe with several choices for each course and an extensive wine list. We started with the octopus which was tasty but a bit tough to chew. Then we had the strawberry gazpacho with avocado sorbet. It sounds weird but was excellent. We both had the lobster for our entree. It came out of the shell and over rice and was nicely presented. Unfortunately, although the claws were tender and tasty, the tail was very chewy. The blueberry cheesecake had an unusual presentation and was excellent.
For a restaurant that many rate with 5 stars, we were somewhat disappointed that the food was not perfectly done.
What a special and delicious experience! Everything was perfect
We were visiting Kennebunkport and celebrating a birthday at White Barn. The food, service and overall experience was outstanding. We had the four course menu with wine pairing and there were many delicious choices. The birthday dessert was very special and unique. I would be remiss if I didn’t say that the wait staff was superior to any experience I have had. Chris was amazing!!!
Best meal and service we have ever had. 5 stars!!!!
Wonderful resturant for a special occasion. The Chef's lobster menu is a unique experience.
Excellent meal! Fine as any great NYC restaurant
This is our fourth or fifth visit over the years. We certainly would come here more if we didn’t live halfway across the country. Always an elegant setting with excellent service. The food this time was even better than before. An event. Very much worth the price
It was the perfect anniversary dinner. Gregory was our server and was incredible. How knowledge of the menu and just the right amount of attentiveness was the perfect touch to the perfect evening.
Our twenties anniversary. Best meal we have ever had. The whole experience was spectacular. I did the 4 course and my husband did the lobster 6 course. Everything amazing. The chef, staff, servers valet and piano player were all amazing.
I had some apprehension about spending $195/person for the Chef’s Lobster Menu. It was 6 courses of variation on lobster with additional complimentary starters. WHAT AN EXPERIENCE! The staff was cordial and very attentive. The chef was masterful - each course playing on the previous. It was truly the culinary experience of a lifetime!
