Woodlands Restaurant at Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa
Did the Sunday morning brunch. Food was OK, service was lacking. Scrambled egos were excellent, bacon OK, bagels were stale and most of the food was cold. We went about 45 minuets after they opened so no excuse for the cold food.
We have been going to this resort for over 30 years. Based on the deferred maintenance and overall shabbiness. Probably not going to stay there in the future.
excellent dinner really enjoy the scallops and garlic mash potatoes thx for the good food
It is a good restaurant. The rack of lamb was just ok. A bit over cooked and a little fatty. Server was nice and manager very engaging with guest. Nice view and busy bar
Our host and server were excellent!!! Food was delicious and we could not have asked for a better evening!!!
Menu has been simplified with only one fish selection
Salmon is good but recommend adding a second fish option other than Shrimp
I liked the old menu better
Great as Usual
Had Vodka scallops appetizer which was excellent and veal pot roast which was very good. The salmon was excellent as well.
We Have dinedhere a lot. I like how the staff remembers my name, the specials are awesome, and the view is spectacular!!
I say YES to the above question but only because the food was very good except for the dinner salad which was sparse and probably a day old. There was only one primary waitress (albeit the manager was helping out) and she took care of all the tables (which amounted to 5 or 6). There was hardly anyone there at 7 p.m. So I give the service an "ok" only because she was running around alone and we could not get her attention readily so we didn't see her for periods of time. We had a 7 p.m. reservation and didn't get our salads until 7:40 then the entree came out about 5 minutes later. Not great service for such a high end resort. But the pork tomahawk chop is fabulous.
Food was very good. Our Server Chris was very good even though she was swamped with a couple of large parties.
We had a 6:30PM reservation but easily moved it up to the 6:00PM time frame, and we're seated by the window looking over the lake. Staff and general manager were friendly! My fiance had the Veal Pot Roast and I had the Diver Scallops - both were delicious. To top it off, I was able to celebrate my birthday with chocolate cake courtesy of the general manager, and it was perfect ending to a perfect day. We'll definitely be coming back again in the future.
We were seated right away by Jack who was delightful. Our waitress was also attentive and nice. Of course the view is beautiful and we love to stop and eat there before or after visits with relatives in Dubuque.
Food is the very highest quality. The attention to detail makes the food as beautiful as it is delicious. Service is unmatched. Will definitely be back.
It was okay... pretty noisy and crowded but it was Mother's Day. The meats served by the carver were not hot...just barely lukewarm. My son had hot tea and our waitress never offered him a refill of hot water even once, even though she came by to check on my husbands coffee several times! Coffee was extremely strong! The music being played by some guy sitting awkwardly by the desserts table was very annoying too...I was pretty disappointed overall and wont be going back next year.
Food was delicious. Nice variety. Service was very good.
Brought my daughter who will be married in a few weeks for a night away!!! The spa, restaurant, environment, and kindness of staff exceeded my expectations. Can’t wait to bring my husband next for some relaxation after the wedding!!!!
Jack and the staff are just amazing!!! The food was delicious the view was gorgeous. We definitely be coming back !!!!
We showed up and the restaurant was closed. The bar was open, with poor ambiance and very few food options. Nothing like the restaurant menu.
Poor showing. The place was 75% empty and I had asked for a window seat for a birthday occasion. We were seated in the middle at a table with the top about ready to fall off. We asked if we could move to the rich selection of window tables, "sure". My wife ordered the shrimp cocktail (OK, stupid idea in the midwest). She put two of them on my side plate and before I could fully comprehend and express the green edges on the shrimp, my wife ate one of hers . Big mistake. The car salesman like host quickly replaced the shrimp with a scallop appetizer which apparently were good, I decline to consume them. My filet was good although cooked rare and not medium rare by a long shot. Luckily I don't mind rare. My wife's lamb chops were tough and poorly prepared. The salad was tired as were my baked potato (unless you like cold potatos) the veggies sucked. Creme bulee' was OK. White Sambuca at $8 was a little difficult to swallow. Will never return. Hotel / resort will be reviewed in an appropriate setting. Only slightly better than a 2 there. Signed, Green with seafood.
My best friend and I enjoyed Sunday Brunch buffet as the finale to our girls’ getaway. The service and good are top notch. The value is good because once you’ve added together the price of an omelet, a mimosa (yum!), and a dessert, your buffet has paid for itself! Plus you can try the fruit, pasta selections and carving stations. We loved seeing the staff interact with the regular guests, too. Just a great way to spend the morning!
We love dining here! We each got the prime rib buffet and my husband prefers his meat well done. They were so attentive and just seem to know and offered to cook it a tad more. It was perfect! Again, we love this place and it is worth the two hour drive.
My wife and I were on a long weekend getaway for Valentines Day. We had a wonderful meal with great service.
I've been to this restaurant numerous times over the years and I am always thrilled with the service and the wonderful food.
We had another wonderful long weekend with great food and attentive service.
The dinner was excellent, very tasty and well-appointed.
Stayed at the resort for NYE and had a nice time, food was good, wait staff was great and everyone was super friendly. A power outage in town caused a lot of people to seek reservations there and it seemed like they did everything they could to accommodate the walk ins while still taking care of the reservations. Made for a special evening.
Our server was sullen and would disappear for long periods of time. She also waited too long to put in our orders with the result that our food came well after other parties’ orders who arrived and ordered AFTER us.
It’s a country club. Had the feel of any other country club. Well appointed, meant to service lots of their members - pretty cookie cutter. We were there when they had a prime rib bar. Food was fine - very good, just not creative or memorable.
My group enjoyed a pleasant breakfast sitting near windows with a view of Lake Galena. The food was very good, eggs cooked they way we liked and the Breakfast Burrito was tasty. The service was outstanding. Thank you, Kelly. The ambiance was perfect. We will be back soon.
Restaurant was CLOSED
The food was solid (ordered steak and scallops) and the prices were pretty reasonable all things considered. The atmosphere could have been better, you couldn’t see any scenery and the restaurant itself was bland. I didn’t notice any bar in the restaurant which I didn’t like, it was too bright and our server was fairly slow although nice. All in all if you stay at Eagle Ridge Resort I think you have to try the place out given it’s in the resort. You will like the food but will probably wish there were some added features to the venue (more views, live music, better atmosphere, or something along those lines).
We were there at 1145
Food was quite picked over and was not being replenished
Sweet table barely had anything
The staff was friendly and competent but they seemed abit short staffed and it took too long to get our food however there were ten in our party .They had a prime rib buffet but at 645 looked picked over and not so appealing . The food was ok .I had the Tuna served with bland plain steamed white rice ?? my wife’s steak was not as good . Good selection of wines. Overall it worked and was two minutes from out house.
It’s weekend brunch is modestly priced, and the omelette bar isn’t bad.
I have been to the Woodlands restaurant for Sunday brunch several times and kept going back because it was always good but this last time was a disappointment. The scrambled eggs on the buffet were runny and watery, but the omelet bar was very good the chef cooking the made to order eggs was excellent. The lemon slices were dried out, the variety of selection has decreased every time I have been there and the presentation has gone down also but the price hasn't gone down. They used to have prime rib but not this time, I think it was just a beef roast. It used to be worth the 2.5 hour drive to get there, now I'm not so sure.
Great place for dinner, Loved the manager Jack very helpful and accommodating. Jesse should be a great server, he would be excellent!!
The tiramisu was excellent I'm a big tiramisu fan and was very happy with it overall, price for food was great, presentation was great. The French onion soup was lovely. Not very salted which is perfect. My wife and I split the veal dish and that was very tasty.
Appreciate.tye bread and salad that come with the entree.
Service was quite slow, I am aware that it was a Friday and you had a wedding.
My husband and I went to Woodlands Restaurant last Saturday night while we were staying at Eagle Ridge Resort because we had read about the prime rib buffet special. Our dinner turned out to be very special. The salad buffet offered a nice variety of items, different types of lettuce, fresh vegetables, roasted vegetables, chicken slices, and shredded cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese. As part of the buffet, there was a potato bar and cooked fresh vegetables with lots of toppings. The prime rib at the carving station was absolutely delicious. We were able to enjoy fresh strawberries with brown sugar and sour cream as part of the buffet. We are still talking about our delicious dinner. The service was top notch. The waitress was attentive and the staff was friendly. We even enjoyed special visits from the manager who checked in to see if we needed anything.
There was a tremendous view of the hilly resort and lovely homes in the way distance. Also, we could not have felt more comfortable, as people dressed in "anything goes" type of attire. Jeans, sneakers, sports coats, and resort clothes all worked at this great restaurant. The crowd was made up of groups of people who were celebrating special events or vacation-time together, couples who were enjoying lovely dinner dates, and families - young and old. It was a very nice crowd of people who all seemed very happy and who really seemed to be enjoying their evening at this fine restaurant.
We enjoyed our dinner so much that we cancelled the reservations we had a an in-town restaurant on Sunday night so that we could go back to the Woodlands Restaurant that night. Boy were we glad we did! We can't wait to go back when we visit Galena next time!
Fantastic brunch with many items to choose from. They even accommodated us bringing our dogs into the lobby so we could enjoy the brunch!!
Very pleasant and comfortable experience. Good was great.
