We waited a bit to get a drink, but were pleased once received. Service was very attentive once we got our drinks. Woodlot's food and beverage selections are always stellar and this visit didn't disappoint. They're known for their bread so a few more options in the basked would've been appreciated - if they're worried about waste, they should ask if you want bread as a rule. Also, no French onion soup on the menu which was a drag. Hopefully it will return soon. Finally, if you don't like to sit like you're the centre of attentionand be bumped regularly by people passing by you, make sure you request a table against a wall. I'll know better next time.
sat at the bar we loved the bartender! so nice and gave great advice
I've eaten at Woodlot before, so know what to expect: quality food at often inflated prices, but with lots of choice for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. This time around, there were a few additional irritants: first, we were placed in the centre of the upper gallery, probably the noisiest and busiest location in the restaurant, even though we were among the first to arrive. It would have been better if we could have chosen our spot. The restaurant was way too cold, and the front door was open, ensuring it would be chilly, especially where we were seated. One of our party could not really eat much of anything on the menu because of a food allergy. That is not the restaurant's fault, by any means, but when we asked for extra bread, the server told us that she couldn't afford to give us any more than our single basket, which seemed a bit insensitive given how little one of our party could actually eat. Even a slice or two extra would have been a nice gesture. Finally, if Woodlot is going to serve unwarmed potatoes and green beans in October, when the weather is no longer warm, it should warn patrons. The last thing I wanted when I was already cold was cool vegetables. And several slices of eggplant on a small amount of potatoes and green beans--I couldn't even see the porcini--does not justify a $27.00 pricetag. Seriously, Woodlot? There are enough quality vegan and vegetarian restaurants in the city now that Woodlot needs to step up its game and revise some of its assumptions.
Food was delicious, ambiance was warm and intimate. Service was excellent but not snotty. Definitely will return.
Great neighborhood restaurant!
What a great place for individually prepared and delicious organic meals. Pasta and fish dishes are especially tasty and well presented. Excellent wine list and yummy deserts too. Love the ambience too.
Very mediocre experience, very mediocre food... I’ve been her numerous times and this particular evening nothing hit the mark. I hope it was an exception to the standard I’m used to at Woodlot.
Food was amazing. That sweet corn pasta was PERFECT!!!!
Great food, much better food, service and ambiance than other expensive restaurants in Yorkville or King Street West area. Loved the food. Service was exceptional.
Absolutely fantastic time. This was the second time for my boyfriend and I, and the first time for my grandparents. We will be back again and again! Food was delicious, service was perfect! Try the zucchini blossoms!
Never had a bad experience here .... good is amazing
I always have a great time and Woodlot. The food is local, extremely fresh and delicious. They also have a great wine list with an interesting selection of biodynamic and local wines. We always have a wonderful culinary experience when we go.
A lovely birthday dinner. Our waiter was super knowledgeable about both the wine and food. Will return
I love this restaurant. It has a very romantic ambiance, exquisite food, very fine selection of drinks, and the most friendly staff. Noise levels are a bit too high but this is compensated by the overall quality of the restaurant.
Amazing food and professional people. The pictures made me expect a classier environment, but I prefer the good spirited ambiance I found instead. Everything was good, from the cocktails to the dessert, subtle tastes and expert preparation. A bit loud to my liking, but I've heard worse.
I am beyond disappointed. The food was so salty it was not enjoyable at all. The server could of cared less and never even checked to see how we were doing. It wasn’t busy so there was no excuse for it. I am in the industry and it was just totally sub par.
Lovely patio. Food was great. Really enjoyed our evening.
For starters we saw a mouse which I understand is common in restaurants but it was nonetheless awful to see.
Second the steaks were terrible but given I had guests from out of town I didn’t want to complain. The portion sizes were also insanely small.
Service was lacking at best and one of our sides were missed.
Definitely not coming back and wouldn’t recommend it.
Food was excellent, most creative and flavorful vegetarian menu I've had all year.
Delicious food and awesome atmosphere
Would like to come back and try more
Wonderful experience at Woodlot. Perfect ambience for a romantic night out or even as a small group.
Excellent. Everything was very tasty. Also offer vegetarian/vegan options.
Terrific food and wine. Great service; very knowledgeable and informative. Beautiful atmosphere. Awesome vegetarian and vegan options. Had a great experience.
Great food and loved that they have a vegetarian menu.
We've always loved the creative food here. We came early in the evening before things got busy, and appreciated the server obliging us with a bigger table. My only gripe is that having fairly high decibel rap music on the sound-system is not our idea of ear-candy. Perhaps something with more universal appeal and less polarizing --AND at a lower decibel level-- would be wiser....please.
Love the menu, local, fresh, ethically sourced, great vegetarian options and vegan friendly. The service is relaxed and caters to any allergies or food preferences, which is greatly appreciated. Love the ambience on the patio.
Horrible service, price much too high for what you get. Ambiance claimed to be romantic. Ate on patio, and definitely not romantic but crammed in with other people and sat at a table where others had to get up to let you out, like cattle car on a flight. Surly waiter didn’t even introduce himself and service was horrendously slow. Waited 20 minutes for our first cocktail. Unacceptable. Will not be back.
Excellent food, back of house knocked it out of the park as usual! Food made fresh to order with perfect portions and bold decisive flavours in inventive combinations. Bravo!
Our server seemed a little distracted, perhaps because we were at a table that wasn’t usually part of his section. Perhaps he was busier than we realized with the rest of his section which was upstairs. Regardless, service was a bit slower than usual even after the dinner rush had subsided. We still had a wonderful anniversary dinner and an overall good experience. We will definitely be back :)
Notes for newcomers: brick oven for house-made sourdough, warm lighting, some main floor seating but mostly upstairs, often full so make a reservation. It’s a small-ish location with only one banquet table so if you’re going to be more than 4, definitely call ahead. Everything is made fresh to order, so times on food take “longer” than you’d expect, but that means they’re taking the time to do it right. Great inventive cocktails, super awesome organic local wine list.
Always delicious and excellent quality and care. Nice to have a strong emphasis on veggies as well.
The menu items are seasonal, local and prepared perfectly. Some choices are a little out of the ordinary and I like that: stuffed, sautéed zucchini flowers for instance. They are only on the market for a few weeks but I had one and it was delicious.
The pasta had a varied, delicious assortment of mushrooms and herbs lacing it. Yummy.
The patio had many diners but there was a lot of room between one group and another. This is our go-to restaurant for special occasions. We have also been here in the depths of winter and it was warm and cozy.
We had a great experience and will be going back. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was fun.
Food and ambiance perfect but service incredibly slow and out of sync w meal. Waited 40 min at least for our cocktails which came 10 min aft apps and several inquiries..the resto was not busy.pretty much how rest of meal went also. Staff not very attentive but friendly when they appeared.
Appetizer and pasta were great! Vegetarian artichoke main was ok.
No regrets ordering both mushroom dishes as recommended by our server. Food was delicious, service was prompt and attentive and ambience was great. Highly recommended.
I know it is a popular restaurant, but Woodlot wasn't for me. The service was cold and distant. I put a note on Open Table, weeks in advance, that it was a 40th birthday, and asked for dessert/ candle. The whole thing went unacknowledged. I couldn't catch our server's eye to ask without my family knowing.
The food tasted amazing! The value for money was not amazing. We all went home and ate after spending $300, despite the bread basket, multiple appetizers and mains.
Really not for me.
The food was great! Creative vegetarian options and thoughtful menu presentation. Our server was also excellent.
The experience was amazing. The menu is made for people who have analysis-paralysis — you get only a few options to choose from. You’re sure that it’s something fresh, seasonal and local.
We had dishes with freshly grown farm-to-table mushrooms. Delicious. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable and kitchen was able to accommodate our dietary needs including vegan variations of the same dishes.
Food was great. Service as well. Portions on the small side. I think there should be fish offered aaa main
