A Yank Sing Signature dish, house-roasted Peking Duck served as a deem sum appetizer, Crispy paper thin honey-coated skin and tender slices of succulent meat stuffed in a steamed seashell bun, accompanied with finely slivered scallions and smears of tangy hoisin sauce.
First rate dim sum with excellent service. Lina, one of the managers, chatted with us at length to ensure our satisfaction with every single aspect of our wonderful Sunday lunch. This is a woman who takes her job and responsibility very seriously. We loved Yank Sing’s Stevenson location much better than the Rincon location because the latter has been forced (through Covid protocols) to set up in the Rincon atrium, which, while roomy, loses any shred of intimacy. The food was excellent. We sampled many of the dishes, and the only “miss“ in our opinion was the boiled spareribs. These were gristly and gray. All the other dishes were spot on and just as good as we remembered them to be at what undoubtedly is the gold standard in San Francisco dim sum.
Only disappointment that many of our favorite dim sum items were not available.
Brought guests ans thought we would be eating inside restaurant
Not a very nice atmosphere in lobby
I think the restaurant did a yeoman’s job considering the restrictions imposed by COVID. But the experience was a far cry from pre-pandemic ones! Special mention needs to be made regarding Hostess Vera’s care welcoming presence. She made a potentially unpleasant experience into a very pleasant one. Thanks, Kent Tayler
Always delicious!!! Great food and great service!
We dis not get to try the food as the place and setup is beyond depressing.
Plastic tables set up on a very unwelcoming lobby.
It should be clearly stated that the restaurant is closed and they are only offering this "low end mall food court experience "
Well! With COVID, the ambience of Yank Sing was truly non-existent! The tables were set up in the lobby of Rincon Center. It reminded me that dining out is truly a matter of great ambience in addition to delicious food and good service. The dim sum items were all delicious but the food carts were not bustling as in previous visits.
It was really good. The service was fast and great. The food is good and consistent with every visit.
Went there with 14 people and a few kids to celebrate my daughter’s baptism. There were nice outdoor benches and we ate “takeout” just outside the restaurant. Everything was as hot and as delicious as eating in the atrium, and people felt safer eating outdoors. Staff were very helpful with letting us eat outside by lending us plates and validated our parking.
The lobby area seating is way to stark. Horrible ambience. Great food though!
We have been going there for over 10 years.
After this visit, all of my family members decided to remove from our restaurant list.
Food: not the same
Service: Had to ask for water and napkins for over 5 times
Food is great. Service is great. Such a fun thing to do.
Terrible! It was so good before inside the restaurant. They should never have moved out to the atrium
It’s so scaled back due to Covid it is sad. Menu and dim sum limited but still delicious.
Awesome dim sum. A little bit pricey
The food was delicious as always. Love having cart services again !
The menu seems a bit limited - and tea out of paper cups not ideal - but always a great meal !
Food was good. Ambience was poor due to Covid restrictions. The main dining room was closed so the old Hong Kong style hustle and bustle of dim sum was gone. Pricey compared to other dim sum places.
It’s not Yang Sing. They have used the Pandemic to turn it into a cheap looking cafeteria which has simply lost any elegance and ambience. The food and the prices just don’t justify the horrible tables, folding chairs and crapping lighting. What a shame!
Food excellent as always and good to see cart service again but didn’t see Peking Duck. Was happy to see you needed to have vaccine card to eat there.
The only issue was service to get water, drinks or tea. We got our tea at the end of the m al, we asked 3 different servers what the status of the tea was. There were enough servers it seemed but no coordination
Food was great, service was lacking. We ordered a bottle of wine and water, waited 20 minutes, and had to ask for both twice. After a while of eating and drinking, we ordered three more dishes to finish our lunch. Food never came, even after asking two different servers about where our order was.....30 minutes later finally just asked for the check, paid, and left.
A great time there with a group of friends. Very reasonable prices. Call before on the parking because we could not find a parking space in the garage and learned that there is something special you have to do in order to park in the reserved places. Would have saved us $15 as we had to pay to get out of lot even though we couldn't park. Inside the restaurant service was great, all kinds of rolling carts going by and all you need to do is point and get served. Tables are in the big area inside Rincon and felt like we were outside and seemed very safe.
No atmosphere and no personalization
I truly appreciated the fact that you must show proof of vaccination to enter, the tables are extremely well spaced out. The food is excellent as always although the choice is a little more limited now. The downside, at Rincon Center they removed the waterfall, and the ambience is more like cafeteria, school cafeteria. Big disappointment that there is no longer tea service with pots, they bring you a big paper cup full of tea. Not the same experience at all. In conclusion, the upside is that you can feel safe eating there knowing that everyone is vaccinated and spaced apart. The food is excellent. The downside is the atmosphere and the lack of refined dining, as the inside of the restaurant is closed.
We love that Yank Sing has a selection of vegetarian dumplings. They are unique in that regard in my experience. They are also wonderful. If we come up to the Bay area, we always make a point of going there.
Love the good food. Awesome to have carts walking by tables again. Stressful check in process on day 1 of the new SF indoor dining rules that require proof of vaccination plus valid ID. But the checkin folks were terrific, very patient and apologetic. It took us about an hour to download and get a copy of our entire party’s vaccine and ID cards. They allowed us to sit down at 12:15 even though our reservation was for 11:15.
Excellent food, great atmosphere, friendly staff. Outstanding.
Yank sing charges a lot of money for their offerings. People have become customers there in the past because they offer a breadth of quality dim sum offerings and excellent side dishes. Well, the dim sum availability has been cut in half, and the Chinese food dishes (Peking duck, special veggi dishes, char siu, innovative salads, etc etc etc) are nonexistent. No reason to not return to old menus on the weekend. There are other places selling good dim sum and Yank Sing will be losing its repeat customers if they don’t offer the food they became renowned for.
Shocked to be eating in the rotunda, on plastic tables with no cloths on them and cheap plastic chairs. Very disappointed.
The food was as good as ever, maybe better. The ambience was not quite as nice as they had to make changes due to COVID. No more table cloths or spinning dish (lazy susan) in the middle of the table. Tables are heavy duty plastic that can be cleaned easily and they are nicely spaced apart. Drinks are ordered through a QR code on your phone and delivered immediately in disposable paper cups. Food still comes around in carts which is wonderful.
We are longtime fans of Yank Sing and were so happy to return for dine in. During the pandemic, we did take out a few times and quality was excellent. This day, we were seated in the atrium area and it felt sufficiently distanced, clean and safe. We ordered drinks and some items via the app and the rest through their cart service. They had such an expansive menu in the past, and it is understandable that not every single thing can be available, but they had many of our favorites and the experience was enjoyable. It was nice to see some of the familiar faces (masked!) of team members who have been there for many years. We are so glad this family favorite survived these turbulent times.
We love this place. Friendly staff, great food for good prices!
My daughter an I had a long standing weekend 'date' of ferry over to the City and Yank Sing. SOOOOO happy you're back open and in such a way to accommodate so many more in the lobby set up. Cannot wait for you to bring back duck, baked pot stickers and those you've needed to hold off on adding due to current circumstances.
Was pleasantly surprised to see how Yank Sing made use of the foyer adjacent to their restaurant. It gave feeling of spaciousness and felt very safe. Of course the dim sum was great!!
Food was cold and overpriced. Taste was good. Service was very good. I have been coming to yank sing since I was a child and frankly their dim sum was always the gold standard. On this recent visit everything was cold. Dumplings stuck to the bottom on the dish. Spareribs were over corn-starched. Selection was average. Turnip cake wasn’t fried enough. Tables were not even set. I know they are busy but if they want to charge 10-12 dollars for ha-gow and sui-mai it better be perfect. Will not be back until things change. Hate to write this review because I alway pull fir fellow Chinese Cantonese businesses. But it was really sub par
Simply the best dim sum.
The lobby dining room experience was ok, can’t wait to go back inside.
Never fails to make us happy!
Eating outside in the courtyard was both impersonal and tacky. Service was difficult when there was such a cavernous space. The usual dim sum carts were few and far between.
The food was good, the dining area, tables and utensils were all clean and tidy. The prices have become too rich for our liking. Not worth what it cost us.
Because of Covid19 It was not the same experience, disappointing.
No waterfall & all seating outside in courtyard with plastic tables, chairs.
The restaurant is not offering all dishes anymore, not much of a variety.
Our mobile order was confirmed but our waitress was not aware. No apologies for the delay and waited to long for our order.
My first time here! Great food, good service. I would recommend this dim sum restaurant to all who are into great food!
