Prices have gone up dramatically, menu has been scaled down significantly, ambiance is gone, the food that they still have is good.

Our one and ONLY dim sum spot to go to in SF. Always good. Due to Covio, ordered on phone from menu & food brought out to table almost instantly.

Excellent Dim sum as in the past. The seating was only outdoors in the atrium. Ordering is totally contact free. Service was prompt. Only point to nitpick will be all the dishes arrived very quickly and we missed the long lingering experience of the past waiting for the carts to roll by with sips of tea and chit chat.

Yank Sing has always been a standard bearer for SF Bay Area dim sum. It has definitely changed during the pandemic and as they now have indoor seating in the atrium, the experience is not the same. To start with they have partnered with Toast to provide a completely online ordering and payment system. The selection is not as robust as pre-COVID times, but most of the menu is available. The dishes are brought out by the staff, but unlike the old days, service is not as attentive, since you have to pay for the food once you order it on Toast (including the tip). That said, once you are able to track down waitstaff, they attend to the matter just fine (water, ice, additional napkins, utensils, etc.). Tea is ordered by the cup now and soy sauce and hot sauce is doled out in small disposable sauce containers. Overall, the food is still quite good, just the ambiance is very different and it’s just not the old Yank Sing we knew from days of yore.

Tables were 6 feet apart. Felt safe. Very clean.

Sad there weren’t any carts going around, but hopefully soon!

Haven’t been to the city at all since 2019 so this was a special treat following the Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit. It’s still Covid restrictions so the restaurant check in is outside in the main courtyard. We do have reservations. There Is a renovation going on in the atrium, so if you’re looking forward to the fountain it has been removed. There are no restaurants except for Yank Sing open. It appears that there are no inside restaurants planned as they did an upper seating for the the future of that center. However, in spite of that there were large tables separated in that atrium lobby, so whether you were two people or eight people you sat at your own table. You will be seated with plates napkins, real not wooden chopsticks and small containers of a hot sauce or chili sauce and soy sauce. When you’re seated you can scan your phone to pull up the menu of items and order what’s available and you plug in your credit card number and then they will bring your drinks and food. Due to the constraints of the kitchen items are less than the normal and all your food that you’ve ordered will come at once. Keep that in mind if you’re ordering a lot of food and you don’t want them to get cold you can always add on after. Water is served in a cardboard type container And you can order an iced tea in the bottle or sparkling water in a bottle. They do have beer and wine I believe there was wine definitely beer in the bottle. As an extra note there is an 18% tip added to your bill regardless of what you’re ordering and we were surprised that after the fact my husband ordered an iced tea in the bottle And there was a space to leave a tip. That would’ve been ridiculous because you’re not gonna tip somebody for bringing your drink.
Masks are required and so you’re sitting at your table and with the tables being as far apart as they were everyone was compliant and comfortable and as I said Loved it and will go back again soon.

This restaurant is doing a great job of retaining the excellence of its food, if not its atmosphere, while coping with the requirements of social distancing and safety in the pandemic era.

Seating was indoors in the atrium in Rincon Center, and place settings were pretty bare bones and lacking in grace - large plastic table top, folding chairs, no linens. But that's all in the service of creating a distant and easy to sanitize indoor eating environment. It was fine. The food made up for the lack of ambience.

Food came quickly, and was hot and tasty. Oolong tea was excellent and almost buttery in flavor. Servers were attentive.

Be sure to bring a cell phone that can scan a QR code - that's how you'll order and pay.

Yank Sing needs to bring back its food cart service. People show up to this restaurant because of this "Old China" tradition of having food carts with dim sum circulating the tables so that customers can pick and choose the goodies! Come on--serving tea in paper cups, give me a break! Also the variety of dim sum has greatly diminished (lot fewer choices) on the menu--now that we have to order from this very limited menu! We want the great variety of dim sum, noodles, and everything else back!!! The waiters and waitresses did a great job in helping customers under this social distanced table arrangement. I cannot recommend friends to come to Yank Sing until they change back to their pre=pandemic set-up.

This is by far the best dim sum place you can get in the financial district in SF. Although it's kind of pricy, I wholeheartedly think that it's worth the price and you'll get your money's worth. Highly recommend!

I love Yank Sing and hadn't been there for ten years. I had been telling my wife about it and we finally made it up to have dim sum. Because of Covid there was no traditional cart parade and ordering was done via an app. Because of this I thought the experience would be somewhat diminished but it wasn't at all. It was actually nice to order exactly what we wanted rather than have to wait for a specific cart. The food was as incredible as I remembered and my wife is now as spoiled as I am. We don't live in the Bay Area so this was extra special and we won't be waiting another ten years to do it again.

The dim sums are as delicious as ever, but the ambiance is not the same. We miss the old Yang Sing, especially inside the beautiful restaurant. We hope Tang Sing is able to go back to its previous glory. We even miss having our tea served in the glass kettle and ordering as we go along, rather than having to order ahead of time.

After not going to Yank Sing for well over a year, we returned for an outdoor seating reservation. The food was excellent, but I found the phone-based ordering system to be not nearly as pleasant as ordering food off the roving carts from before the pandemic. It makes sense from a safety perspective. But we missed the spontaneity of seeing what was on the roving carts, and then ordering what we wanted on the spot. We had to anticipate ahead of time how much to order, and what to order. But, once we did that, the food we got was excellent. Hopefully, the old method of ordering Dim Sum dishes will return once California fully opens in mid-June.

Yes reopening after the pandemic is stressful , for ALL... From ordering food on your iPhone ..to food arriving cold
Thank Goodness Edward is still a server he seems to “ hold it together for everyone”:

Food took about 90 plus minutes to arrive. We had to cancel two dishes about the 90 minutes. Completely understaffed. For the price, and reputation of the restaurant, this should have been a complete embarrassment to them. Very disappointing. After a brief apology, they offered to remove to not charge us for the food that did not offer but did not even suggest further remedial action. It shouldn’t have taken several customers to be upset before they take action. A simple explanation or setting of expectations before seating customers or perhaps after the first 30 minutes would have gone a long way. But, the restaurant did not do this, and was not responsive until we complained after the 90 minutes. Would have easily avoided the restaurant had we been informed at the outset.

Yank Sing uses a QR code system to order and pay for the food. We thought this was an efficient, new way. However, we patiently waited for our food for 1 hour. Finally, my husband went to the kitchen door to inquire why it was taking so long and was told that the kitchen never received the order. So much for efficiency! One of the waitstaff apologized, but the manager didn’t bother to come over and explain. Our food finally started coming and then stopped with 1 item pending. Again, my husband had to go to the kitchen to ask for it.

This was my favorite Dim Sum restaurant for 15+ years. Everything has gone south because of pandemic and inflation. Food is limited and cold, service is horrible (feel like waiters don’t give a crap), tea comes in cups with no refills, portions are smaller, and prices are through the roof. Extremely disappointed.

Love the dumplings here, they bring back Hong Kong memories.
Totally recommendable, excellent social distancing and mask wearing, easy to order from your own table with the QR.

Although I miss the wandering trolleys with the steaming dumplings on them, I appreciate this is the "new normal" and so I am glad the indoor eatery (inside the rincon center) is open again.

I have been a customer for many years. I was disappointed with the food service provided. I understand that due to Covid restrictions, restaurant food and service had to change. But I have to say that the limited food choices and new way to order food was not the greatest. I felt as I gotten food to go and was given a table to sat and eat. Not happy with dining arrangements. And, let’s not mention the hiked up $$ menu! All in all not a very good experience. Will not go back until they are 100% ready.

Dim sum was great though menu is limited. We were seated in the atrium. There are also seats outside in the courtyard but not all have umbrellas. Have to order via the Toast app. It was hard to get the wait staff’s attention once all the food is delivered but it may be because we were seated in the back of the atrium. Overall a good first time back since the pandemic.
