Tiger Shrimp Tempura
I don't think we will go to Yoshi's again for dinner before a show. The food is good, but the ambiance and noise level are very discomfiting. Especially for a Japanese restaurant where you expect a more tranquil environment. And the seats we were assigned for the show were way in back so I don't think we gained any advantage by eating there.
Yoshi's has been a solid go-to for me for years. Great to have a meal before a concert.
We had another great evening at Yoshi's last night. As usual the show was fantastic (Chris Standring), but with the help of our waiter, Mitch, we had a chance to look at the menu a little closer. We chose one of the Family Style Diners for 4 and it was wonderful. Not only did the presentation deserve a photo or TWO, the 4 of us ate every bite!
On a side note: Don't miss the opportunity to park in the 12th Street Garage. It is just a few covered steps (helpful when it is pouring rain) to the front door.
Exquisite food and world class service! Excellent atmosphere for a special dining experience.
I truly enjoyed the entire experience of the restaurant and concert venue!
The service was excellent and the food was also great! Yoshis is the place to go at Jack London Square.
Great food, service and atmosphere. Dinner and a show make a perfect date night!
Had to wait in line for 20 minutes after my reservation time to be seated before a show. Not ok.
For live music and good food, simply the best 👌
Great music; great food… an East Bay Treasure which we can all support.
It was a whole vibe. Our server was very attentive and food was great!
Excellent food, service and wonderful all round place for get togethers, date nights and amazing entertainment:D
This place is truly amazing! First time to this venue and came on a double date to eat dinner and watch a performance. Service was wonderful, food was great and the overall vibe and ambience was awesome. Definitely coming back again! Such a cute and intimate place to watch a performance! They have a lot of fantastic artists performing throughout the year.
Always love coming to Yoshi's. We had a great time and saw Yuna afterward which was absolutely a lovely show!
We had a excellent experience at Yoshi’s .
The food and beverages were extremely high quality …
The service folks were fun and efficient .
After dinner , we went in and saw the show …that was a wow time…
Great lighting , superb performance and sound and once again , great service .
Made reservations for dinner so our seats would be reserved for the show later on. When I and my party arrived we were promptly escorted to our table and introduced to our waiter Mitch who was very attentive and knowledgeable about the individual dishes on the menu. The food was amazing from the taste to the presentation. I'm a big fan of the family style format. Afterwards we all walked into the club and were guided to our reserved seats where we enjoyed a wonderful show by Yuna!
It’s been a while since I’ve eaten at Yoshi’s. The menu is different, not as many choices. I order the tiger shrimp tempura and it was just okay. Batter was thick which was a turn off. I will say my drink, was good.
I also ordered dessert during the concert I attended at Yoshi’s and when it was initially delivered, my husband requested utensils. After 10 minutes had passed our regular server came by and again we requested utensils for a dessert that was now melting. We finally received utensils 15 minutes after dessert was delivered. Unfortunately, the dessert was disappointing - brownie was dry and only had a small amount of the sea salt caramel sauce.
In the future , I’ll eat elsewhere before the concert.
Yoshi's is an Oakland gem for dinner and a show. The service and food is always impeccable, and they bring some of the best and underrated talent to the town. Last night, I enjoyed a light meal in the restaurant before an incredible show from Kevin Ross in the concert hall. Always a pleasure to visit Yoshi's.
The staff was so helpful and nice! We were celebrating a birthday and everyone was so kind to wish my SO happy birthday.
Cost were high. Quality was fine. My dish was overly peppered and was too spicy and I was surprised since the menu did not describe it as anything close to spicy.
Sushi servings are small. 6 pieces. Over all it was fine
A little pricey but delicious
Yoshi's is a lively spot with live music every night. It seems so busy that you can get forgotten when you are seated, but they eventually get to you. The food is portioned well, and on the slightly pricey end, the drinks menu is comprehensive.
Everything superb EXCEPT ambient music was WAAAAAY too loud! Difficult to hear waitstaff, had to shout to converse with tablemate & since everyone else in the restaurant was shouting, too, it made noise level even higher. This is a revolting development which detracted from the experience.
We were regular customers pre-pandemic & always looked forward to dinner before going to the club & were easily able to have conversation at table at normal levels while dining. Not the case anymore & it is NOT pleasant.
PLEASE turn down the volume of the ambient music!
Everything was just right except for two things . My food was delivered to the wrong table so it took a little longer to get to my table. But then again the food was amazing. Keep it up yoshi’s.
And the parking garage wait to get out was pretty awful. In fact it took so long to get out that we had to pay more at the exit. There went the discount offered from the restaurant. But let me reiterate Yoshi’s was awesome.
The food was all outstanding, however the service was just fair at best!. Service was very slow to order, very slow to follow up. In all fairness maybe they were just short of staff due to covid?. However for the prices the service needs to be better. As for the service in the club, lets just say that it is ever worse than the dinning room. Our server seem to be working a quarter of the room so we only got to order one round of drinks. It just takes for ever to get served. This has always been the same in the club. They need more servers!
The food was very good - as usual. The service was prompt and courteous but, they don't give you time to finish your appetizers and salad selection before bringing out the main course. My wife and I hate to be rushed like that. Yoshi's is not a cheap restaurant and I expect a little more from the wait-staff in that regard. (I'm sure they are instructed to do that so the restaurant can get a larger turnover of customers but, it is not good business if they want repeat customers - in my opinion!
I have NEVER had a bad meal at Yoshi's. That, along with the music, is unmatchable.
Great service. Friendly, fast, excellent food quality. Nice variety of wine. Overall great experience. (Our waiter was Alex).
First and foremost the food is delicious. I highly recommend Sashimi and the Salmon dish with zuchinni pasta. Also delicious cocktails - Oakland Sunrise for te win.
Service was good, but there were some instances when we had to remind the waiter to bring something - our drinks. But I loved the greeter who was authentically dressed and the servers where all very plesant and efficient.
I also recommend requesting a window seat for a little more privacy as the tables are kind of close together.
Great atmosphere, great service. Food and drinks come out fast. Staff very attentive.
Excellent as usual! Fast service, delicious food. I’ve moved away and it’s always a pleasure to come back to the same quality experience!!!
Good place to eat very noisy and tight area for seating people kept bumping into my seat all night long that was annoying
1 of the 2 hostesses were rude to us at the check in desk. Thank goodness our waitress and the food were both a "10"!
Honestly just delightful. Great service, good fish quality, nice lively environment, what more could you want? I mean my only complaint would be that the drinks were strong and for most people that’s a positive lol. Definitely coming back!
Everything was really good! Will return again to combine both dinner and live music performance.
Upscale Japanese food does not disappoint. We enjoyed garlic edamame, a sushi roll, tempura tiger shrimp, scallops on pork belly, and a beef tenderloin, all delicious. Highly recommend.
Pretty good sushi, fun (but noisy) atmosphere, slow service. Server explained at the start of the meal that it was tradition to offer free dessert for anniversaries but by the end of our meal we never got a dessert and had to wait a long time for the check.
We were at Yoshi’s for a performance my son was giving the the auditorium like area of the complex and for dinner before the big event.
I moved my car off from street parking into the car lot in the complex. Unfortunately the validated ticket I had processed at the front desk did not work do I had yo pay the parking fee.
Nice cocktail area before entering the lively dining room…noisy but fun.
We had a delicious green salad, calamari and dragon shrimp. Our guests ordered a salad, calamari and a Japanese chicken dish they said was outstanding. Their salad never arrived so was credited later when I paid the bill. The waiter was friendly and totally overworked as the concert was sold out so the restaurant was almost full with most everyone want to leave at the same time. It took awhile to get our bill. Yes, it was not all perfect, but understandable because to the time crunch created by the performance…which was outstanding! We will return because of the good food, nice atmosphere and friendly staff trying to balance a lot of guest needs.
