Das Bouchon Bistrot wurde bei den North East Restaurant Awards als Gewinner des Best European Restaurant ausgezeichnet und befindet sich in günstiger Lage gegenüber des Pools von Hexham an der Straße Gilesgate. Es serviert einfache französische Küche im ländlichen Stil mit einer Tageskarte am Abend. Der Besitzer des Bouchon Bistrot wurde im Loiretal geboren und hat bei seiner Arbeit in mit Michelin-Sternen ausgezeichneten Restaurants in ganz Frankreich viel Erfahrung gesammelt. Dies macht ihn zu einem Experten, wenn es um die traditionelle ländliche Kochkunst in Frankreich geht.

                                                        A real treasure in Hexham, friendly staff, great ambiance, and the food and wine were divine, and authentic- Hexham is lucky to have Bouchon Bistro!

                                                        We had a good dinner in very pleasant surroundings. The service was excellent and food well presented with fresh produce. One of us had the prix fixe and the other a la carte. The only negative comment we have is that the portion size on the a la carte main dish (rump of lamb) was small given the cost.

                                                        Excellent food, lovely interior, relaxed atmosphere. I came in for a dinner with my husband and our 7-month old baby. It was fairly quiet so we did our best to keep the baby quiet, which we accomplished fairly well. The food is very nice, we had a salmon salad to start, roast pork with mash as a main, and dessert. The salad was simple (a bit too simple?) but tasty. The main was delicious, my only comment was that the mash could be a bit butterier. I had a cheeseboard for dessert and my husband had floating marshmallow, both were great. The service could be improved a notch, but the servers were polite enough and attentive.

                                                        Food was lovely from start to finish . Had a couple of drinks each but was still shocked at the bill of over £135 for two people . Maybe it was our own fault for being extra greedy

                                                        As usual, another lovely meal, prepared and served to us in this restaurant’s warm, welcoming and highly professional manner. My husband and I both chose the same Prix Fixe courses- tabbouleh with couscous to start, followed by steak frites and a delicious tarte au chocolate with espresso cream as our dessert. A single espresso, together with a sliver of dark chocolate, provided a lovely finish to our delicious meals! My husband was the designated driver so I sampled a glass of house red- mellow and fruity. In all the years of visiting this gem of a restaurant, I have never disliked any of the house wines- red, white or rose! It goes without saying that everything lived up to our expectations and we look forward to our next visit!

                                                        Upon arrival we were greeted by a smiling face and taken to our table. Everything went like clock work, waiters were helpful and efficient. The food was presented in an appetizing manner. Plenty and hot. a loverly experience. The food was exemplary. We would highly recommend.
