A very pleasnt pre-theatre evening dinner, at "the restaurant at the theatre on the hill" A Tuesday evening in October, and we were going on to see Shakespeare's "Othello", and so dining on-site extended the pleasure. We booked, through the website, for 1700h, to give us plenty of time for a leisurely three courses before the drama at 1930h. (In fact, even an 1800h table booking would have given just enough time.) Arrival was fine, and we were given a window table. (On a fine summer's evening, the views over Mold and over Bryniau Clwyd, are stunning - but this evening was a dark and wet October....) We started with sparkling water and each had a large glass of Pinot Grigio. Our starters were light, and arrived within minutes - bean and caper salad for me, cured salmon for my wife. On to the main courses - lamb rump and pork chop, respectively. We also ordered a side dish of Dauphinose potatoes, and one of seasonal vegetable, to share; without them the excellent main courses might have felt "meat, but not much else...", so do consider "sides". We had room - and time - for desserts. My wife enjoyed her bayleaf creme brulee. I tried Bryn's Welsh variant on a classic - "Bara Brith Baked Alaska" -and was not disappointed: after putting my spoon through the perfect baked meringue, it was pleasant to find the raisins of the base-layer of the bara brith. We finished with coffee, and felt very pleased with everything. Our bill - £137 total, so just under £70 a head - seemed excellent for fine dining at this level.

First but definitely not the last visit yesterday. Enjoyed everything and usually for me, thought it was worth every penny! Nice people, but the best is proper china cups and enough in pot of tea for a few cups for both myself and wife. Can’t wait to take my six year old granddaughter who will love it. Highly recommend!

Our experience from start to finish was nothing more than exceptional . From the ladies greeting us , the barman serving us and the waiters looking after us . I’d like to say a massive thank you to Marcus our waiter who was very attentive making sure we had everything we needed he couldn’t have looked after us better . He was very polite and courteous . I will be asking for him in our next visit and there most certainly will be a next visit

Went with mum before a concert at St George's Hall, we shared the vegan super food salad and vegan gnocchi: delicious and just the right amount. Service great, was very reasonably priced. Also, gutted I hadn't realised you get free parking at hotel carpark if you eat there ! (So got fleeced paying £15 at St John's car park 🙈). Ah well, I know for next time !
