A special venue with outstanding food, super service and a great atmosphere.

Another fantastic visit to The Riverside Café and, as always, it didn’t disappoint! I’m a regular here, but this time I brought my mum, who was visiting, along with my best friend and baby. We all had such a lovely experience. We had the Eggs Florentine, Mushroom & Cheese omelette and Brie & tomato sandwich — everything was fresh, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious, we also enjoyed some tea and coffee. Of course we had to finish with a treat and we went for the chocolate & hazelnut petit gateaux, which was incredible and tasted every bit as good as it looked! The service was brilliant throughout — friendly, welcoming and attentive. We were really well looked after and the whole experience felt relaxed and enjoyable. I’ve visited Riverside many times and it genuinely never disappoints. I’ve also been to their sister restaurants Ember, Vitos and No.32, which are just as good. It’s brilliant to see this group bringing such great food, service and hospitality to Sunderland. Thank you to the Riverside team for another lovely visit — will definitely be back!

Regularly visit Cafe 21. Comfortable and friendly ambience. Good menu options. Never feel rushed to leave your table. Staff warm and professional. Service prompt and efficient. Food always lovely.

It was fabulous! I asked for a recommendation from a local and did that recommendation deliver. Food, service and setting was brilliant. Value for money was excellent. The Gallery/Gift shop was a lovely addition. The large outdoor space outside would be awesome on a sunny day!
