The Punch Bowl is a 17th century newly refurbished restaurant and pub located in the heart of rural Essex and the Crouch Valley and South Essex salt marshes. Chef Patron Rob and Front of House Manager Sally run a Two AA Rosette-rated restaurant, offering a nose-to-tail style menu with unpretentious dishes that focus on flavour. Everything is made in house - from bread to mayonnaise, and we use local, seasonal and organic ingredients. Our menu changes daily as the season's best comes in. Lovely atmosphere all staff friendly & attentive. Lazy Susan starter option is good serving 3 at a time. All food was good Salmon cooked to perfection. Only negative was the buns for burgers slightly over toasted

The place to go……. ticked all the boxes and sum. We went for a special birthday treat and my goodness everything was catered for down to the littlest detail. Service EXCELLENT! Food Delicious and overall experience just sublime! Thank you for making our visit very special indeed. The whole experience was exceptional.

Fantastic service. Food was excellent, especially from the Bib Gourmand menu. Megrim Sole and Onion/Cheese tart were wonderful. Could have had an extra vegetarian option, but that’s being picky. But…and as a person who likes a drink, the 0% lager was as good as any alcoholic pint.
