What a fantastic night at Prohibition Public House! There were four of us for dinner, and we decided to start things off by putting ourselves completely in the hands of Sam, our server/bartender extraordinaire. Each of us gave him our liquor of choice and told him to surprise us with a cocktail. Sam asked each of us a couple of questions about what we liked, disappeared behind the bar, and came back with four completely different — and absolutely fantastic — cocktails. Such a fun way to start the evening! We shared an order of the Polenta Fries to get things going, and they were a great choice. For dinner, the ladies both had the Nunavut Turbot with mushroom velouté, while the guys went for the Red Wattle & Venison Burger. Everything was delicious, beautifully prepared, and definitely enough to make us want to come back. But if we're being completely truthful, the biggest reason we'll be returning is Sam. What a fantastic professional. He was knowledgeable about the entire menu, clearly knows his way around a cocktail, and somehow managed to be attentive, relaxed, funny, and genuinely entertaining all at the same time. He turned a really good dinner into a memorable night out. Great food, great cocktails, great atmosphere — and exceptional service. Thanks, Sam! We'll definitely be back... and next time we're probably going to make you choose the cocktails again.
