In 1996, two restaurateurs took a single Forrest Gump monologue — you know the one — and turned it into a shrimp shack on Monterey's Cannery Row. They figured if Bubba could rattle off 21 ways to cook a prawn, the world could probably eat them.Turns out the world could. Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.™ became the first (and only) casual restaurant chain born from a movie property, and grew to 38 locations across the world.We figured we owed the locals more than a cut-and-paste of the US menu. So we kept Bubba's recipes, the gumbo, the prawn boil, the coconut prawns, and let the bay write the rest.We don't think dinner needs to be quiet. Or fancy. Or short.
