This is my favourite restaurant. HIGHLY recommend the chef selection. Peter was our server and he was so nice and knowledgeable. Food is always amazing.
I always feel away from home (Toronto), maybe in Shanghai in the 20s, in a different time zone, and the culinary experience is always fabulous! What a trip right here at home!
Great dining experience. Our party of six was served by Marla who was absolutely excellent in every way. We ordered the taster menu which at $68/person is about right for 10 courses of wonderfully diverse food. Great ambience and an extensive cocktail menu as well!
We arrived at the restaurant at 10pm (with no reservation) and there were empty tables. We were told they could not accommodate us (we assumed it was due to the late hour) however, after we left the restaurant we used open table to find an available table near me and surprisingly we able to book after all.
The food was excellent, drinks were excellent and our service was excellent (4*s given for being turned away in person while still able to book a table). Would highly recommend.
Second time here, this time late on a Saturday night, despite the suburban crowd -- this place knocked it out of the park with friendly and attentive service, an adventurous cocktail list, great fusion food and decor providing a suitable backdrop for the evening.
Main course was delicious. Appetizers didn’t wow us, luckily plate was small or we wouldn’t have finished the food.
Beautiful restaurant with a cozy feel. Delicious tasting menu. I enjoyed each course and was full by the end of the meal. Both presentation, taste and variety was amazing. I was seated in high-top seating at the back of the restaurant (because I made a very late reservation), but I liked the location. Service was excellent and attentive and the servers explained all the dishes. Great experience!
We ordered the chef’s choice and it was a meal for the history books. Beyond our expectations. So many notable flavor combos: octopus taco with jicama shell, a sushi cake of beef tartar, and a dessert of sake aloe sorbet with ginger. Amazing!!!
The food did not disappoint in any way. We did the chiefs choice five course meal and it was truly outstanding. The octopus tacos and the venison carpaccio were truly amazing. The service was equally oustanding. They were very attentive. I would go back in a heartbeat. Best meal of 2019 for us !
What a fantastic spot. Very attentive service and food was out of this world good. Thank You Dai Lo for being you . Love you !
We came here for my husband's birthday and everything was great from start to finish. We were greeted warmly and taken to a lovely, romantic table. Our server was so kind, energetic and so knowledgeable about everything. We shared about 5 dishes and they were all amazing! The Brussels sprouts and octopus tacos were some of my favourites and the dumplings are a must have.
We really look forward to coming back and trying the Chef's menu!
It was the first time for me and my daughter from NY and we both absolutely loved the food and the presentation - so unique, so delicious! We were luckily sitting in the bar so we had excellent service from the bar tender who was ready to give us very good recommendations and the area is not noisy at all. The chairs might a little small for a ' chunky' woman like me! However, it was ok.
Will definitely recommend and return! What a very pleasant surprise!
GREAT SERVICE AND VERY HELPFUL WITH NAVIGATING THE MENU. EASIEST BILL DIVISION OF ALL TIME AS WELL :) WOULD DEFINITELY GO BACK
The food was amazing. We had gone there when it first opened and loved it and tonight was just as good.
The service by Pete was exceptional and we can’t wait to go back again soon.
We loved the innovative dishes and the family style, sharing plates. Lovely cocktails. Our server was excellent !
Loved food, service, attention of our server Katherine (Catherine?). Two thumbs up.
We enjoyed the dinner very much. My guest kept saying it wasn't like any other Chinese restaurant he'd ever been to; of course, it's actually fusion cuisine, and well handled. The portions were larger than I expected and one main dish and three small ones were more than enough to feed two people.
Excellent food, especially the appetizers. The truffle rice is exquisite. The wine list is extensive and will not push one into poverty. Highly recommend!
DaiLo always provides lovely cocktails, with excellent food and service. We usually order the tasting menu. This trip our favourite new dish was a Japanese custard with tobiko and yuzu butter.
DaiLo is almost unique among Toronto restaurants in that it does not insist on playing music at gale force. We enjoy being able to talk, and are introducing our friends to a place which has good food and is conversation-friendly.
When we have the desire for a great meal, a beautiful place and awesome service we always return to Dalio. Chef Nick & Chef Dennis are always developing new and tasty dishes so there is always something new to try.
I loved the interior and the upstairs bar. The food was beautiful to look at and to eat. Staff were friendly, casual but professional. LOVED IT
Ambience received 4/5 stars because we sat at the bar and seating is tight... and the hostess accomodated our request to move to the other side of the bar - our original seats we were in the corner facing a wall..
So just in case you select bar seating - just know you will be in tight quarters... the gentleman beside me kept hitting my elbow as I dined (not his fault)...
I would definitely go back again but would not choose bar seating.
My husband and I celebrated with a meal at DaiLo followig our wedding and we already can't wait to go back. The food was outstanding; flavors were out of this world and variety was phenomenal. Chef's grandmother's recipe for the shrimp and pork wontons - TO DIE FOR. The service at the bar was such an experience for us! We did the bar seating and were taken care of by the bartender, Shannon. He was so knowledgeable about the menu and he's definitely whipped up his fair share of cocktails. He made our night! Would highly recommend. Best meal we've ever had!
Too many deep fried ingredients for a restaurant at this price level. Some appetizers were oversaulted.
Our most favourite restaurant in the city, best food and service.
Had the Dailo's Choice (chef's selection) but strangely the table beside us had all the same dishes plus two more. Not sure why... In the end we were still satisfied with the meal but a bit confused.
So delicious and such a great value. Loved the tasting menu and drinks.
Always perfect. Staff is fantastic. Shannon the bartender is always so attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. Love his sense of humour. The owner came to personally solve an issue and ensure that we were satisfied. The servers and waitstaff are positive and upbeat. The food is always delicious. It never disappoints! Love love love DaiLo! Thank you for making every dining experience perfect!
Outstanding food and service. Perfect spot to try some new food and great cocktails. The pea dumplings are one of the best dishes I’ve had in toronto... seriously amazing
Excellent as always
We were there a year ago and I have to say i think the food was a tad better.
Still a great spot. Would definitely recommend.
Fabulous restaurant - never disappoints. Great atmosphere, great staff and excellent food.
The food and service was friendly and delicious! We ordered 3 appetizers and 3 mains and it was quite a bit for 2 people, but just couldn’t put our forks down. Favourite dish was the Ontario pea dumplings — fresh, creamy, salty, delicately wrapped! Lastly, there was an educated sommelier on site who helped us chose the most perfect stinky wine that satisfied our crave.
Would definitely recommend Dailo for a tasty date night if you’re into creative Asian cuisine :)
Cant wait to go back. The food was absolutely delicious. The service was excellent.
Great restaurant. Apps and small dishes better than the big ones in my experience. They have more flavour and the large dishes always a bit dry and less taste.
You guys did it again. So good!!
I first went to DaiLo about four months ago and loved the food and the prices. This time around, it seemed to be considerably more expensive, although the food was extremely tasty. The wine pours are definitely on the stingy side. Noise levels escalate to uncomfortable after about 7:30 but some people seems to like that. I would recommend this to people who enjoy an "energetic" vibe.
Outstanding Experience at Dailo. Best meal experience in Toronto during our two years living here. We went for my husband's birthday and did the tasting menu, which I highly recommend, a great value and way to experience a lot of the menu. Service was exceptional. Our cocktails took a quite while to come out as there was a backup at the bar, but the server brought over a small glass of sparkling wine to hold us over. That gesture was highly appreciated! We can't stop talking about our experience to all our friends and colleagues. We will be back soon!
I had their chef's choice for dinner which was a wise decision because everything was good. The Canadian trout was filleted and then deep fried so that the skin and the bones were crispy. We consumed the whole fish. The octopus and pork belly on jicama taco was savory with a unique crunch, and two kinds of dumplings: one that had a zucchini stuffing, fried and the other with mixed meats, steamed with XO sauce. The tastes were a delightful blend of Cantonese and western, perhaps a little French influence. The service was very pleasant as the wait staff were knowledgeable about the food and enthusiastic about the institution - all good signs. The decor is unassuming but like all great Chinese restaurants, it is the cuisine and not the ambiance that is important. DaiLo means big brother in Cantonese and I gather the restaurant was named in honor of the chef's older brother.
Consistently fantastic experience. The food and service are always amazing.
