Guiso Latin Fusion
We so enjoy this restaurant! Carlos and family do a fantastic job. We brought some people from out of town and they were so pleased with the fresh food and ambiance. Such a special place! No wonder they are always on the Top Ten on Open Table!
A charming restaurant in downtown Healdsburg with delicious Latin food and the warmest, most welcoming and attentive staff you'll ever meet. Many of the dishes come from family recipes, and you can taste the tradition and love behind them. If you're in Healdsburg, don't miss this gem.
Set guests from Grape Leaf Inn and they loved it!
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed Guiso Latin Fusion. We shared a salad in the “small plates” section of the menu with incredibly fresh ingredients: seasonal greens, guava vinaigrette, local stone fruit, radishes, piloncillo candied walnuts, queso fresco, mint ...and a nice portion left us both satisfied big bowl, not a “small plate”) She commented “This is the best salad, I’ve ever had”. She’s eaten a lot of salads in her lifetime.
I had a glass of Barbera, recommended by our waitress based on my taste preferences (she asked good questions) and was very satisfied with the choice. Our waitress did a super job explaining the menu (succinct yet detailed in her explanations in ingredients and preparation). Her positive attitude and smile were infectious and her personable nature made us feel welcomed and special, like we were in a close friend’s kitchen.
I had the Pupusa which was delicious. I woke up this morning craving it. My wife had marinated chicken thighs that she thought were terrific. Both of these items were from the “small plates” section of the menu. We wanted to eat more because the food was so spectacularly tasty but felt “just right”, so we capped off the night with some yummy ice cream. The prices for the quality of food are reasonable.
Carlos the Chef came out and greeted us and took the time to talk with us. Cool guy!
Driving away my phone rang, our server was calling to let me know I left my reading glasses behind. Such outstanding service!
The restaurant is small with about 20-ish seats. The kitchen is visible and you can watch the busy food preparation going on. Be sure to make a reservation, we walked by at 6pm and it was full and came back for our 7pm reservation and our table opened up right on time. Every seat was taken. They have a good website. We made our reservation on Open Table.
Guiso is a new favorite and we’ll be back when we make another infrequent trip to Healdsburg! Highly recommended!
Our favorite restaurant in Healdsburg! Love all the local, fresh ingredients. Carlos is an amazing chef.
Innovative food, well balanced flavors in all the dishes we tried. The Chef/Owner works in the kitchen that is along one side of the dining room. A small place-definitely need reservations. Very comfortable, easy to have conversations at the table. A small but well thought out and eclectic wine list.
The food was good, not extraordinary in the sense that what we ate tasted fine but there isn't a single dish for which we would go back. So, it's competently cooked but lacking the flair that would raise it to the excellent level. The service was well paced but they should lay off a bit on the "family business" "my brother is the chef" " my grandmother's recipe" "my grandmother kept the recipe secret"....A bit heavy handed on the family theme. Branding is good, over branding can get annoying.
I wish them well but probably won't be back anytime soon.
It’s like having dinner with family. Great food and service.
We were very pleased to try Guiso Latin Fusion for the first time this weekend. Eventhough we had a reservation for table seating, we opted for a seat at the bar. There we were able to speak with Chef Carlos and watch him and his creations. The food was absolutely delicious. Chef Carlos has done a great job keeping family recipes fresh, vibrant and delicious.
A must dine experience. Fantastic food and charming talented sincere owner chef.
Everything about this gem of a restaurant was very special. Others have noted the personal attention of the wait staff, and the engagement of the chef-owner. We absolutely concur. Plus our food was FABULOUS. Incredible flavors, very pretty presentation - just a great culinary find in Sonoma amidst all the other farm to table establishments. We ordered the steak for 2, the paella, and the fish du jour and each dish was meticulously prepared. Both our waiter - the sister of the chef - and the chef himself took the time to explain the dishes, the spices, and a little of the personal history of the family. We left feeling like friends - and very happily full. The restaurant is tiny so you may have to wait a bit for your reservation if the guests before you decide to linger. That being said, the 4 first-come seats at the bar in front of the prep and cooking area is the place to sit if you want a real culinary show. Forget Top Chef! Guiso Latin Fusion is an exceptional culinary experience that you do not want to miss. It will be a mandatory stop each time we are in Healdsburg.
Interesting food, friendly service. The place was somewhat noisy but tolerable.
I got lamb chops in barbecue sauce. The lamb chops were excellent and perfectly cooked but they were coated with very spicy barbecue sauce; it drowned out the flavor of the meat. I thought that was out of balance.
This dinning establishment is the loudest restaurant that I have ever experienced in my entire life.
Their corkage fee is $25.00. TOO Much. Our server never came by to ask if every thing was okay.
When I made the reservation I said that this was a special occasion. We got zero recognition.
The topper was receiving a phone call followed by a text asking why no tip was left at 11pm that night.
Way out of line!!!! Needless to say we will never go back, and we will be sure to let all of our friends know.
( Healdsburg is a small town).
Food was all fantastic. Great service. Small and personalized.
Flavors flavors flavors and such and intimate story. This is why we come to Healdsburg. Small family stories.
Trust me, this place lives up to its reputation. We had the paella as an entree - one of the best meals I've ever had. Can't wait to go back and try some of the other dishes. Hint: order extra bread to eat with the paella.
Always a favorite!! Great food and service
Our second time here and already looking forward to the third. A TINY family run restaurant with a relatively small but excellent menu. The food is prepared within sight by a very talented young chef and is worth every penny!
Charming and knowledgeable family member as waitress, absolutely wonderful papusas, paella and rice cake dessert.
A wonderful place!
Fantastic food, fantastic service. We will always go back to this restaurant anytime we are in Sonoma
Best meal we have had in the Bay Area in years.
This meal was wonderful!I highly recommend trying this place .
There is a music venue located in the same building. Wonderful Latin fusion .
Delicious and innovative Salvadorean cuisine in a cozy family restaurant! Guiso's food is top notch and a real value for the quality. The atmosphere is friendly and low key. Really a unique find in Healdsburg.
This was one of the best meals I have ever had in my life. Our server was genuine and really knew the menu. I highly recommend it!
This is not a place you want to miss!! Enjoying was delicious!!! And the staff was amazing!
Food was outstanding, flavors were explosive. Will be back next time we’re in town.
Given the foodie environment of the wine country, you have to be really good to stand out. Guiso had the most unique menu and dinner that we have experienced in quite awhile within Sonoma County. The restaurant is a family restaurant so it was great to meet the staff and hear their family story. Everything was fantastic. The small restaurant was very intimate. Each course was fantastic. We had the cuban sliders, their own unique salad, the awesome corn and the paella. The service was great and the Chef came out and thanks us at the end.
Everything we ordered was a treat for the senses. The plating is beautiful, the flavors really pop, and the service is friendly and helpful. Can't wait to go back.
Creative food in a quaint artsy atmosphere.
The noise level can make this wonderful restaurant prohibitive. We will try an earlier reservation next time.
The menu at Guiso has some standards that are too good to pass up, and the daily fish con coco is one of those dishes. Guiso is small, and requires a reservation. The wine list is like a ready made wine and food pairing. Regardless of what you order, there is a wine to augment the food. Service is all in the family and is warm, gracious, and friendly. So, when I ‘m hungry for a fine piece of fish, Guiso is my top choice. There are no wrong choices here.
This is truly a special place. The passion the family has for their food and their diners, you can’t find many places in America!
Absolutely stunning! Only 17 covers but service is perfectly paced and the food is amazing! Never tasted flavours like this. We had sliders and prawns to start then finished with the delicious paella. The wine - Barbera from Portalupi next door - was so good we bought some after a tasting the next day. An unmissable place if you’re visiting Healdsburg
Great everything! The food was amazing! Friendly service & charming atmosphere.
Everything about our experience at Guiso was amazing! I wish we lived closer, because we would be regulars. The service was wonderful; our server was the sister of the chef, who owns the restaurant with their father. We enjoyed hearing about the traditional El Salvadoran dishes and how the chef gave family recipes a new twist. Most importantly, the food was exceptional! I could have drank the sauce on the shrimp appetizer and the paella was one of the best I've had. Will definitely go back when we return to the area.
Amazing food! The flavors are interesting and outstanding. Carlos is such a creative chef. The staff are friendly and professional. One of our favorites in Healdsburg!
Excellent food, very small and quaint place. Service was prompt and well-trained. We were able to see some of the food prep and that was interesting. The only downside is the bathrooms are in the adjoining un-air conditioned theater and the door didn't close on own.
Would go back in a heartbeat.
This was the most exceptional Dining Experience from the moment that we walked in the door--truly a hidden gem! The chef's fiancé not only served us, but she educated us about the restaurant, the food and the history of the food and the chef.......it all made our evening extra special. But the food, omg, the food is beyond amazing! It was a tastebuds trip to Disneyland! The combination of tastes, and foods made everything just dance in our mouths! The atmosphere inside the restaurant was fun, and casual. We met our neighboring table and they made recommendations based on their amazing dinner as well. We will be back again for sure!
Great view of chef cooking up the meals and the wait staff was highly educated in all the dishes. Tremendous experience.
What an amazing find in Healdsburg. Score a table at this tiny restaurant and you will be richly rewarded. The Guiso family runs a terrific place with imaginative and excellent food and family atmosphere. Highly recommend. One of our favorite meals in many years.
