The first table we were situated at was up against a door in the basement. Not ideal having people walk right behind you and bumping into you. the waitress was great and moved us but there was a group at the bar that was so loud you could hardly hear yourself. For a first time visiting I wouldn’t sit downstairs again and will know better to ask not to sit down there. For the money it cost to eat there and the thought of having a nice dinner out without kids it was not near what I had hoped for

Rack of lamb had too thick a parmesan coating. Scraped that off and left with an anemic looking bit of meat. Halibut was scorched, not seared and raw on the inside. Sent it back. I think they finished it in a microwave oven and sent it back.

Best meal Ive eaten in St. John's. All of us at the table were blown away.

Haven’t been to Magnum and Steins for a while so didn’t know what to expect. Was not disappointed in the least. Food was excellent service was perfect and overall atmosphere was relaxing and enjoyable.

The evening started with a comfortable noise level but rose sharply when a large table???? sat in and it got continually louder. Perhaps it was due to being sat in the bar area. I had requested the dining room. We appreciated that the server ensured my wife, who didn’t really enjoy the taste of her entree, offered a substitute. This meant that I was finished when my wife’s replacement meal came so she took most of it home. It was her birthday dinner and we have always had good experiences at your restaurant but this was a little off the norm. It’s still a restaurant on our to go list.

One of our favorite restaurants. The food our group enjoyed was very tasty. The portion sizes were quite large. Service was very good however traffic in the restaurant was quite light on the Sunday evening we dined there.

We had reservations for my birthday. Our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable. The food is usually great but that night we had the appetizer with the chicken, steak and sausage. The steak was burnt. When it came time for our meals everyone was served (4 other quests) before I was given mine. Too make the best it was for my birthday. I had to eat a little bit off everyone else’s plate. Good thing I did cause my food never came until everyone else was finished their meals. Apparently another waiter had given it to the another table. It was no fault of our waiter but I still feel like maybe a piece of desert may have been given to make up for the mistake. When I made the reservation it asked special occasion. Why bother asking if you do anything about it?

Amazing food with a great variety: fish, chicken, steak.

We had scallops to start followed by the tenderloin for me (melt in your mouth delicious) and the pan fried cod for my partner.

The service is truly incredible - our server knew the menu and specials inside out!

Loved everything about the evening but we were downstairs and there was a group of loud party people next to us. They were only having fun but we were unable to have much conversation ourselves.

Awesome night with fantastic food

Great atmosphere, great service and great food. My first time there and it won’t be my last. Loved it

Server was great and the place was nice. Food was good but not worth the price in my opinion. I have had much better food for less or the same price as the meal my wife and I had. We had the lamb rack and prime rib burger, with lemon cheesecake and mixed nut phyllo pastry.

Kelly was fantastic and we enjoyed every aspect of our experience!!

I made a reservation for solo dining at the bar. My seat was at a table beside a doorway. The service was not great. I would not recommend for anyone dining alone.

Our food was excellent....very tasty and hot. It was also served in a timely manner. The waitress was very pleasant and professional. It was a lovely dining setting overall. The only exception to this is that it was quite chilly upon our arrival. We kept our jackets on for awhile. The waitress noted herself that it was cold there and she turned up the heat. It did warm up nicely within about a half an hour. Our 88 year-old mother found it especially uncomfortable.

Overall a great experience. Portion vs plating on scallops was odd. Duck nachos were fabulous.

Tenderloin was cooked properly but wasn't anything special per se.

Everything was great except the creme brulee,did not like it at all which is a first for me,my favorite dessert

We could not get reservations for another restaurant we were looking forward to going to so we asked if others had suggestions for places to go. Magnum & Steins was highly recommended so we booked a reservation & were we delighted we couldn’t get into the other restaurant! It was by far the best steak I had in my life. Not to mention everything thing else, which was superb. The next time I am in the city this will be the first place I want to go. And the service was beyond amazing. Just perfection in every regard :)

Amazing food and service!

We thoroughly enjoyed a lovely leisurely dinner at Magnum And Stein's. It was a quiet Sunday evening so we ate in the downstairs bar - very cozy but I have to say after awhile I found the counter height tables and chairs a little uncomfortable. Food was delicious, the Special lamb grill appetizer platter for two was fantastic. Service was spot on, very friendly, helpful and efficient. Not rushed and not waiting, food was timed perfectly. Good prices for the quality!

Our server was great! He knew the menu very well, as well as the daily specials. His drink making skills were exceptional, and he was very urgent with any of our requests.

The food we had was delicious. I had a duck poutine and a prime rib burger. My girlfriend had Pan fried Cod with couscous.

Overall a great experience with a nice atmosphere. We will definitely be returning, and taking some people with us.

The food was very good But slow outta the kitchen nothing to do with the server the service was perfect and kept checking on us.
The noise level was way over the top. Reminded me of the merchant when it was in the base mentioned, had to shout over all others to hear each other at the table. All good except for the noise level. It was defending.! Need baffles.

I have eaten her many times before and loved it. But not this time! Ordered the special which was pasta but it came out hard. I sent it back and when they brought a new serving it was still hard. Only then the waitress mentioned they serve the pasta al dente which she should have said the first time I sent it back or told me upfront. That way I would have said to either cook it vey well or order something else: So my husband ended up eating his meal while I was sat there waiting. She didn’t even ask him how his was. Not impressed.
