Recommendations by our host were well taken! Suggested specials, highlighted regular food items and cocktails made for a delicious evening. Atmosphere a bit dark giving one a more intimate feeling than normal in such a vast open space with high ceilings. Surprising; perfect temperature control.
Many excellent interactions with our host, associated hosts and table managers. Conversations by all built the flavors array delivered by such a day or night out.
Prospect is a great place for work occasions or a Happy Hour. If you'll want to go for a fun date this place does add a good ambiance with an atmosphere around to ignite good conversations. The menu was really good. I had the duck while my friends tried the tasting menu. The Cocktail menu was short and so it was easy to chose from.
WE HAD A GREAT TIME. FOOD WAS DELICIOUS, THE WAITER WAS FRENCH..DESERTS WERE AMAZING...REALLY NICE RESTAURANT..WE ARE PLANNING ON GOING BACK!
Oh, I wanted to love this restaurant so much. I had a friend visiting from Japan who is a macrobiotic chef, restaurant owner and entrepreneur who wanted a dining experience in SF that served organic, locally sourced food. An evening flight arrival at SFO dictated a FiDi restaurant that would be easy to get to. I had heard good things about Prospect and thought it would be perfect.
The service was really outstanding - let me get that right out there, but the noise was really surprising. It was difficult to hear the person across the table from me. Our table was adjacent a strange sort of "window" to a serving station where we could hear the server's conversations which added to the general noise. On a Monday night I was surprised at the volume of noise.
The food was good, but not great and certainly not for the cost. We had the burrata appetizer which was pretty average, and the roasted carrots with hummus which was really good. One of us had the Pink Peony cocktail which was very good, I had a glass of the blended Gruner Veltliener, which went well with the halibut. My husband had the Piggy Vieux which he enjoyed. Entrees were a bit difficult since my guest is vegetarian and there was only ONE vegetarian dish listed in the entrees. You would think that a restaurant in SF that touts organic food would have more than just one veggie entree. The waiter suggested that we could order more veggie sides like the carrots - and I had to remind him that we'd had them for an appetizer. The de-constructed lasagne vegetarian option was had by my guest and my daughter and it was pretty clear that the pasta was either under cooked to begin with or was left under a heat lamp too long as it was dry. My husband enjoyed the duck. My halibut, while cooked well, was over salted and the dish as a whole was unimpressive. Everyone loved the desserts, especially the apple toffee cake, the blood peach sorbet, and the coffee creme brulee tart. The bill was $$$
Restaurant and food was above average but service was absolutely horrendous.
Waiter forgot one appetizer. Service was pitifully slow. Entrees seemed overpriced.
Poor service and ok quality food
It was a great restaurant with a nice ambiance to it definitely worth it for special occasions me and my family enjoyed it very much.
The day of our wedding we dined at this restaurant. We were happy to receive a secluded table and a bottle of champagne along with a congrats card. This time around dining at the same location for our 1st year anniversary to relive the moment, was not reliving the moment at all. We did receive a anniversary card, but no complimentary bottle, and we were seated in a booth almost as if we were at a diner instead of having an intimate moment. Both times we've gone we had a server who wasn't friendly. Most especially the first time, with a guy server who showed no interest in a serving us because we are two women who just got married. It was obvious he was homophobic. The recent server for this last occasion was nicer towards the end, but in the middle of our dining we had to be served and waited by possibly a manager as he was in a suit. I believe the atmosphere there is silent service. I'm not even sure... but the food was good. I suggest getting the pork chop instead of the salmon. Seriously, it's worth every bite!
Modern decor that fits in with the neighborhood. The service was warm and welcoming. The food is fantastic. Creative cocktails. Beautiful presentations and just excellent flavors. The filet mignon was outstanding.
A good meal in general but disappointed in my pork chop. I've had Prospect's chop a number of times and it has always come out perfect. Tender, juicy, just right. This visit the chop came out tough and dry. Good news is that there was lots delicious sauce on the plate to swirl it in. Also good news is the rest of the meal was very good. Maybe just an off night. I'll definitely go back but might try something else next time.
Enjoyable experience except for the service & timing of food. Food was great, good ambiance but strange sequence of food, took almost an hour for 1 person to get their entree after everyone else finished their meals.
It was a wonderful experience and the food was excellent!
Great, timely service; food was delicious. Good business lunch spot downtown.
great service...friendly staff...food was unbelievable!
Very comfortable place; decor hard cold sharp lots of glass and modern art. Food AMAZING; not quite "picture food"; it was fine exotic concoctions bit not tiny portions. Very comfortable place. Wine list to die for.
Everything was perfect and we had a great time - food was awesome
Great fresh ingredients and variety. Great service.
We are frequent diners at Prospect and generally love the place. I have two comments. First the entrees are limited and barely change. Two fish, one duck, one steak, one pork chop and a veggie. I literally always have the duck and it never disappoints. But a bit more diversity would be nice. The Second item is that the wine by the glass menu is also very limited and there are only two Chardonnays and they’re both about $24 or $25 a glass so all of a sudden the bill becomes gigantic with $50 worth a Chardonnay with dinner. so I think Prospect would benefit by adding more choices to the wine by the glass menu.
the service was great and staff was very attentive but not overly in our space.
This restaurant never disappoints. There for a customer event and the waiter suggested an excellent wine at a great value. Deviled eggs French fries and soft shell crabs to start. The filet was perfect
Service needs major overhaul
Wonderful dining experience!!!
Prospect is very consistent in their food. It is always good, fresh with various variety.
Overall the service was very good. I had the duck and my wife had the short rib special and the food was good but not great and especially not for the price we paid.
Everything was great!!
Always a nice experience. Food is consistently good and unhurried
Nice restaurant. Seafood was excellent.
Great spot for business lunch!
Very nice employees great food great service. Would definitely recommend for a nice date or just to look forward to a nice dinner. I will be coming back.
Excellent as always!
Enjoyed a lovely date night with my husband. Food was delicious. Can’t wait to return
Sleek/chic ambiance with amazing food and excellent service. One of SF's best!
Had a fantastic business lunch at Prospect. The menu is always excellent in terms of choice, creativity and seasonality. And the wines by the glass offered a great selection. Delicious and productive meal.
Perfect business meeting with a fast and friendly service and delicious food!
The food, service and the environment is very good. The downside is that they rush patrons through the meal. For example: We ordered a table appetizer to share, a first course and the main entree for each. We were asked if we wanted the table appetizer and the fist course served together...we said no please serve them separately. The timeframe between servings is much too short...no time to, if you will, pause a bit before the next course. They need to slow down and allow patrons to have a relaxing evening at an otherwise very good restaurant. Moreover the restaurant was not that crowed, so we should not have been so rushed.
Lovely food Great Waitress
Price goes higher now. We are a group of eight people. We tried beef, salmon and duck. Duck smelt strange, salmon is soo small. We went there several times and I don't think we will be there again.
Prospect is such a great treat for a business lunch, after work cocktails or before the show dinner. Always interesting specials on the menu as well as tried and true favorites like the chicken sandwich. Excellent for cocktails with an innovative drink menu.
We came to celebrate our friends' birthday and the restaurant exceeded our exceptions. The bar, the food and service were all great. We'd come back.
