   Our favorite Japanese restaurant. Warm and spacious interior. So appreciate choice of quiet music so you can hear your conversations. The food is absolutely delicious. Dishes we typically order: vegetable gyoza, agedashi tofu, salmon miso bento box, hamachi Kama, sea bass, all the rolls are fresh, creative and tasty. Looking forward to our next dining experience.

   Had a reservation for 5 on Mother’s Day. Got seated quickly but took 1.5 hours for food to arrive. No one came to check on us in between to update us or pour us more tea we had to flag waiters down. They also forgot one dish and we decided to just leave it out since we waited so long already. The place was not packed when we got there and others started getting their food before us and they got seated after us. They never explained what happened in the kitchen just that it was busy. Was disappointing customer service and food is mediocre.

   Two couples getting together for a casual Sunday lunch and conversation at Akemi. Great Japanese combos and bentos. Generously-sized portions, pleasant and attentive waitress. We enjoyed tonkatsu, tempura, salmon, miso soup and sides (especially refreshing cabbage salad and delicious brussels sprouts!). Background music not loud. Pricier but well worth it, IMO. Restaurant's signage is subtle so be on the lookout if it's a first visit--we initially drove right by it.

   Nomuna was a spectacular server, I've been in the industry for over 20 years in various Front Of House positions. I know good servers when I see them. Nomuna was the best server I've had in a very very long time. I noticed that she was the person the other servers went to when they had a problem, first. She handled the other servers problems, while taking care of several tables, like it was nothing. Her guidance and knowledge took my experience from a 3/5 to a 7/5. All Restaurants should have someone like her! 100/100 service!

   The only thing I have to say about Akemi is: I wish the outside sign was more visible. The building is painted black and there is a small name on the side painted in black. I wish there was large letters in the front painted a different color. That would make the restaurant easier to locate. The food was delicious. I would go back.

   My friend and I decidec on Akemi based on reviews as neither of us had eaten there before. I was immediately struck by the warm and inviting atmosphere. I was seated immediately, even though my friend had not yet arrived. After he arrived, we placed our order. The dishes came out and my Lion King roll was delicious. My friend's nigiri were not very attractive and he said that they weren't all that good. We had to ask a second time for me salad. To get the waitress' attention took a little doing, even though the place was not very busy. I probably won't go back.

    Dining at Akemi is always a satisfying experience: the food is delicious, fresh and a good value for the quality and size of portions. I typically order the Salmon miso bento, it comes with delicious white miso soup, salmon grilled with umami rich miso sauce and extra on side, cabbage salad, roasted brussel sprouts with honey mustard glaze and rice; enough food to take a portion home for next days lunch. Love the ambience when they play soft Jazz : pop music not so much since I still like to have conversations with my dining companions. I’ve come here many times over many years and it is one of my favorite Japanese restaurants for all kinds of occasions.
