Amber Dhara - Palo Alto
Our group was in the Lakeview Room which was good for a private business dinner. Food and service was good; ambiance not so good
No air conditioning!!! It was 100 degrees today and air was not working!!!
Should have offered something for us to eat there! Or we should’ve left.
The buffet lunch here is uninspired. I have been coming to this restaurant for many years to get my Indian food fix, but it is time to look for another place!
I have nothing against this restaurant, but we left without eating because we do not eat gluten or dairy, and they had nothing on the menu except veggie dishes that we could eat. That wasn't appealing to my husband, so we left. I expect the food is great, but we didn't try it.
The place accepted reservations but was closed. No communication what so ever
Love the Amber Dhara/Gupshup lunch buffet. Great healthy, tasty food and in a nice quiet ambiance.
This place is called something else now. The chef and new management is trying out new flavors. They were gracious enough to remake one of the items as it was done earlier.
Amber Dhara, which we used to like, has now changed changed to 'GupShup'. The food and service has really gone downhill. Would not recommend!
Indian Fusion from the finest. Every dish was a delight in flavor and execution.
Very well done.
Great, high quality, refined Indian food. Not the cheapest Indian restaurant in Palo Alto, but still one of the best.
Excellent food! Lahori kabab and the coconut cauliflower were awesome.
The restaurant is not what it used to be - it used to have a great ambience. Food was fine but I would not dine there again.
Our party of 9 enjoyed great food and service - thanks so much!
Another iteration of the Amber brand in the heart of Palo Alto. Arrived early, so seated quickly and the staff were attentive throughout. Good selection of dishes for the lunchtime buffet including ample vegetarian choices.
My personal favorite was the Brussels sprouts, although all of the food was delicious, well prepared and not over-spiced.
Will definitely visit again if I’m in the area.
Service was unusually slow for an easy not-crowded evening. I have always had a wonderful time here so think it was an aberration.
Amazing food. Awkward Atmosphere.
My wife and me got upset stomach after eating stale food at Amber
This is a restaurant which has seen its best days and is in terminal decline - and the bathrooms were filthy
The lamb shank was exceptional. Spicy, but the flavor of the meat came through. The vegetable biryani was very good as well. Good bar selections and wine list to choose from to complement the food. I can’t wait to go back.
Amber Dhara has a decent Indian buffet for lunch but I miss the menu. service is a bit slow for drinks and Nan but the bread was excellent and so were the many buffet dishes. They are renovating near the bathrooms and the whole restaurant looks a bit disheveled but the food is still worth a visit
Superior food, great service, wonderful evening. Thanks.
Really enjoyed all the food - hard to single out any item. We loved the chicken bhirani, tandoori shrimp, OKRA (the best!) and the baby eggplant (NO, this was BEST!). Thanks for a great experience.
The restaurant is extremely tired - the main area in the back smells like mold, we had to request to be seated in the bar, near the front door which was open. The furniture is badly beat up, even high street view through the glass is messy and truly unpresentable. The food was ok, not amazing but the ambiance is unacceptable. I won’t go again
We were excited to visit Amber Dhara. It was advertised to be a gourmet Indian restaurant. The food was lovely. Flavorful and well presented. However it was not better then many of the NYC and LA Indian restaurants we frequent at about 35% less in price. The service was excellent. Checking on us just the right amount.
Food was amazing, the staff was friendly and it always delivers on taste. I really like this place!
Good food. Good service. Very quiet, because not many patrons. But we were there early, possibly before Others’ arrived
I want to be kind because this restaurant is clearly struggling. That said, we were surprised to find that the restaurant was empty on a Friday night, during what should have been the dinner rush. No one at the bar.
As for the food, it was not served at the proper temperature and generally had the appearance of having been cooked a day or two earlier, re-heated and served. Rice included. Awful.
Entrees were over-priced to boot, but we expect that in Palo Alto.
Friendly good service.
The salmon was so tough and dry it could have been jerky. They were out of several things we tried to order. There was no ambient music in the restaurant, just the TV blasting from the bar. The naan was delicious, but that isn't enough to make me want to go back.
We took lunch buffet priced at 15$ the options were limited.
The food was flavorful.
Loved tandoori chicken and mutton curry.
Gulab jamun was very good too.
Food was great, the restaurant was almost empty, maybe because it was late at night (around 9:30 pm).
The service was fast and food was really good.
Excellent - a bit pricey but large portions and delicious freshly prepared l
We wanted a quiet environment and a taste of curry. Our waiter was most helpful suggesting a chicken dish, a vegetable, and a wine. We found the food and the experience excellent. This wasn't our first experience and it won't be our last experience.
The place should be full every night. Maybe some soft Indian music? Maybe a mix of waiters, with some women?
What a wonderful restaurant. We reliably have great food and a wonderful time there.
Food was average. Starters were good. Main course is expensive with average taste. There are other good restaurants below average ambience serves great food.
Delicious food and excellent service!
Went for a lunch, it was buffet, very small. Limited options, especially for a vegetarian. Would not go back for lunch...still need to try dinner. I hear it’s good.
Although the restaurant is busy with a holiday office party, our waiter who served them too tried to be accommodating. He was friendly and did not have to apologize to us for the delay in our order because we just wanted to sit there and enjoy the food. It was my son (who turned 15 that day) who asked us to try their restaurant because he went in there one day to ask if he could buy a soda and they were so nice and accommodating to this teenager that it made a good impression on him.
The food was good and the service was good. We were at this location several years ago for Indian food and it was a busy, buzzing, delicious, elegant place. It’s far more ordinary now, despite it’s great location.
Great food, good service but very slow night. I think it’s an Indian holiday. Had the butter chicken, lamb shank and cauliflower appetizer. Everything was delicious!
