Due to the long weekend traffic we were running 45 minutes late for our bookingbut the staff were incredibly accommodating. We love the food and the stafs are delightful. We cannot recommend Ates more highly. Thank you so much

Exceptional food and service. Would highly recommend to all. Lovely atmosphere. Would return in a heartbeat to try some of the other wonderful dishes on the menu.

The foccacia, scallops and octopus were very delicious. The duck was tasty but on the rare side which I don't like. I prefer falling off the bone. Service was exceptional and the BYO wine Wednesday was perfect for us with a large wine cellar. The main quibble was the inside temperature which was very cold. I mistakenly thought that a big oven would warm the room but there was no heating and it was cold.

What an incredible dining experience! From the moment we walked through the door, we felt genuinely welcomed. The atmosphere was warm and inviting—calming, yet filled with a wonderful sense of energy and harmony among the staff. We were fortunate to be looked after by Tudor, who impressed us with his excellent knowledge of both the dishes and the wine pairings. His service was attentive and made the evening feel even more special. We chose the Chef’s Choice menu, a multi-course journey that took our taste buds from the sea to the farm. I must admit, there were a few dishes I may not have ordered on my own—but I’m so glad we went with the Chef’s selection. Every dish was a delightful surprise, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavour. Well done, Ates at Blackheath—we loved every delicious mouthful. Highly recommend this gem for anyone looking for a memorable and elevated dining experience.

Friendly relaxed vibe and tasty wholesome food! Easy to share everything. Great flavours, loved the 150 year old oven baked dishes! Cauliflower has never tasted this good!

I was somewhat disappointed with Ates. While the service was excellent and our waitress was very engaging, we requested a break before the mains but did not receive it. Additionally, the food was just warm; both the starter scallops and the side of roasted pumpkin in yoghurt lacked proper heat. When we mentioned this, the explanation given was that the yoghurt might be causing the cooling, though we didn't find this convincing. It felt like nothing came straight off the heat to the table. However, that’s just our opinion.

Magnificent. From the moment we walked in the door, with my young kids, wife and my parents, we were greeted with great hospitality and impeccable service. Very accommodating for our children and also for my parents who were celebrating their wedding anniversary. Then came the food, which was faultless. The use of smoke from the wood fire oven resonated throughout all the dishes but in different and subtle ways. Truly exceptional food. Highly recommend

The only very minor criticism was the limited selection of protein for main. The flavour bomb experience was top shelf along with the service. We would go back again and have the same selection a number of times. It was that good.
