I would NOT go here for brunch. I love this place for drinks at the bar but that’s it. The bottomless stuff is suuuuper watered down and the food is average. Super disappointed. Cannot recommend
Always one of my go to's in the city. The food is always outstanding, friendly & knowledgeable staff, cocktails are always good.
Went for brunch with friends and had a great time. The food was excellent. Our waitress was hard to get ahold of at times, but other than that it was an enjoyable experience.
Overall - lovely venue. Disappointed with the portion size considering the price and food was Luke warm when served.
Good food, fun drinks! Cool vibe, especially upstairs
We always have a great experience at Bar Pilar! From creating be dishes to lovely cocktails and all fresh and delicious. There’s no doubt we will continue to come back and enjoy the food and festive atmosphere. Thanks!
Taste is paramount when it comes to their food and the bartenders/waiters are personable/friendly.
Jazmine was phenominal. I felt bad for the amount of tables she had to deal with. Overall managed to accomodate all of us and was very pleasant. Food was great so props to the chef.
Good brunch menu, bake shop board is delicious, pancakes are amazing, savory breakfast stuff is just okay. Service was a little slow and the upstairs is very loud. Good drinks and a good deal on bottomless brunch drinks.
The brunch food was really good, but the drinks — and I got the bottomless option for brunch — were exceedingly average, at best. There are many places to spend brunch in DC, and while this is good, it’s not at the top of the list.
My girlfriends and I stopped in for restaurant week and basically had everything on the menu because we decided to share. Everything was amazing, but the most notable dishes were the garden salad, brussel sprouts, crab cake sandwich, soft shell crab, and last but not least the ginger pie!! Our waitress was also so knowledge about the menu and described it so well!
I visited Bar Pilar because of their Restaurant Week deal. Our service was very poor at Bar Pilar. Our waiter was not attentive in the least and at one point he even scolded my friend and I after we had to go to the bar to get service. The food was fast and the overall quality was alright. My friend ordered the french toast and the waiter forgot to bring syrup. She doesn't eat pork and asked if she could swap out the pork sausage with toast and the waiter told us they didn't have toast. The table behind us was also very noisy but I get that's out of the restaurants hands. I would not recommend this restaurant to a friend. Overall our experience was poor.
We were there for Restaurant Week (brunch). The food was deliscious and the service was great. Don't miss the excellent drinks!
The host forgot to seat us so we waited 30 min. Service was fine, cocktails were good, the fritters and pate were good but the main course and desert were not good and felt sick the rest of the night.
The buttermilk pie was the best thing I've ever eaten. I went for restaurant week so had a different experience, but this place is well located, the drinks are delicious and everything I ate was great.
A great neighborhood spot with excellent drinks and a laid-back vibe
Bar Pilar was great! They have a great drink special for Sunday brunch at least. We would definitely go back!
Met a friend for brunch. The breakfast tacos and the breakfast burrito were both excellent. Would highly recommend the Bloody Maria—-super spicy version of a Bloody Mary. Delicious!
The food was decent, but the service was not. The waitress never came to check on us or apologize for the slow wait. Our food was cold and it took us 30 minutes and multiple times asking before we got our bill.
Enjoyed a wonderful Sunday brunch with group of 8 friends. Food was delicious and can't beat their alternative to bottomless mimosas!
Always LOVE everything I get here. They change up the menu fairly often so it's fun to go back and try something new every time.
The bloody Mary’s were great. Food was good, service very good. Ambiance is ok. It’s a little dark and dingy but overalla nice experience
Food was average at best. We left half of it on the plate. Drinks were ok. Hostess and server were great! This place is definitely coasting on reputation.
The food was really excellent as was the service, but it was really, really loud. There are panels on the ceiling to absorb the sound, but it isn't enough.
Excellent restaurant. I hosted a "baby shower brunch" for my friend, and we had a few last minute additions to the reservation. They were great at accommodating this and I am beyond thankful. Great food and drinks specials too.
Our brunch server upstairs was AWFUL. The food was fantastic, as it always is, but our waitress was SO rude. She made everyone uncomfortable when she came around because she snapped when we couldn't hear her (it was a loud restaurant!), rolled her eyes. I'd recommend the pork hash btw.
Everything was great, as always. Our server was a ton of fun.
Food was good as always. One of our dishes was forgotten but it wasn’t a big deal as we over ordered so had plenty of food without it.
Great Sunday Brunch. Loved the food and the ‘vibe’. The food was really good and the menus was varied. It was a bit crowded (tables packed in versus too many people) and a bit loud. But it was a great morning to sit and get the day started.
Great Brunch, friendly service, beautiful place couldnt have asked for a nicer brunch
Best place to take a large group, especially out of towners. We always get the roasted pork family style, the meat is so tender and the accompaniments are great! Service is also phenomenal
My family of 6 picked this without knowing anything about it. We needed a place to go after a baccalaureate ceremony. It was just casual enough to relax but had an interesting menu to keep us excited enough to try some new things. The way the menu is set up let us share some items and choose the amount of food we were hungry for. The lamb was perfectly prepared, the brisket was enough for 3 to share and the pastas were enjoyed by all. Our server was very enthusiastic and I really enjoyed the signature cocktails.
Food was incredible. I ate until I hated myself and I loved every bite. Service was fantastic too. Super chill staff. Would recommend to all. Eat all the meat. We got 10 pounds for 5 people and ate it all
I’ve eaten at BP several times before, and it’s always been good. Today, both the food and the service were awful: coffee was cold; couldn’t get milk for the coffee after asking 3 times for it; didn’t get offered/get any coffee refills.
Rabbit omelette was flavorless and cold, and with several small pieces of bone, or stones in it?! The Latin egg dish was cold and ‘sloppy’ on the plate.
Great service. Great food.
Perfect little brunch spot. Great food and cocktails!
Great service, great food, & good strong cocktails! The Brussels sprouts and charred octopus were especially delicious! I can't wait to come back.
The food was delicious but cold. It was probably sitting in the kitchen for a while before they brought it to our table. Still, it was a nice evening. The place has a cool environment and nice cocktails, good for visiting with your couple or group of friends.
Bar Pilar was excellent. It’s one of our favorite gems on the 14th st corridor. Although everything we ate was wonderful, we were disappointed that the menu did not feature any fish or as many vegetarian options as in the past.
The food at Bar Pilar is always wonderful, and the service is always competent, warm, and hits just the right note of friendly without being intrusive or overbearing. It is always a pleasure to dine there. And they make a great brunch Bloody Mary.
