We had an absolutely beautiful late Sunday lunch at Bistro Elba after a morning at the Peninsula Hot Springs. The food was outstanding, service impeccable and the wine was perfect! Very well priced for the quality of the dishes and wine.
Fabulous food ! Delicious lunch on a wet winters day. What could be better !
Friendly bistro in main Street of Sorrento. Food always interesting and usually with a twist. Lunch time menu particularly good value. Surprised that on Sunday lunchtime there were not more people dining. Try it.
Service was great and so was the food. Great potatoes & yummy coleslaw. We all had great mains. The only thing that we could complain about was the ice cream was icy and not creamy that came with the orange cake. But overall it was great.
Four of us had dinner and everyone except me really enjoyed their meal. I has fish and felt the flavours were too strong. The side dishes were all delicious.
Food, ambiance and service spot on and a good selection of wines.
The owner and staff we're lovely and the food was outstanding. Our steaks and sides were delicious as well as our entrees and desserts.
Delicious. We had the preset menu for lunch and it was stunning. The wine was well paired and my companions fish was cooked perfectly
Great food, exceptional, service. Very relaxed atmosphere, I'm going to have to make this place a regular
Four of us went for a mother's Day dinner. It looked nice, reviews looked good.
Spent the rest of the weekend apologising for my choice of restaurant. The food was expensive as you needed to order sides with your meal, so approximately $50 plus, for a main, and the food was way below par.
Three of us ordered entrees one of which was ok. The mains we're all a disappointment the garfish in particular was nothing short of a joke. We're not sure how this place has been open for such a period of time when the food is so ordinary, unfortunately, huge disappointment, we won't be back.
We have been before and the food is consistently good although a little pricey given the serving size.
We love Bistro Elba. It's one of the few places on the Peninsula where the quality of food and service is of a consistently of high standard, irrespective of whether you're dining on a quiet weeknight during mid-winter or 'in the thick of it all' during the Easter holidays.
Great food, excellent wine list but a bit noisy and service could be a little more attentive. However, definitely the choice of restaurants in the Portsea/ Sorrento precinct
Fabulous food and attentive service.
Always a great experience eating here
A lovely little restaurant with a nice ambience. Oysters were very fresh and the muscles were superb. I found the fish a little dry however and the scorch fillet was also dry and chewy. The service was a bit hit and miss.
Bistro Elba recommended by Motel in Bairnsdale and we were more than pleased with the fantastic steak we ordered. Perfectly cooked along with delicious green vegetable soup and a salad. Would recommend booking as we did as it is very popular. Great staff and service.
Great attentive, helpful, friendly staff. Wonderful food ... amazing chocolate tart!
Fantastic service and great food. I recommend strongly
The food and service is consistently excellent (thank you Murray and Nathan). Great wine selection. I had flinders mussels....best i have eaten! great flavour, and tender. My husband had the duck, and he loved it! The seafood hot pot was very good too, great flavour and yummy pastry. You must remember to order a side of the potatoes.... So good! This is our favourite restaurant in Sorrento.
Mixed feelings. Nice idea to have “half-price” oysters at 5pm but the oysters were on their last legs, so to speak. Presentation of food somewhat agricultural and not quite as flavourful as I’d been led to expect. I’ll give it another try but I was disappointed.
We booked Bistro Elba based on the website menu which included quite a few veggie options (we were 3 vegetarians of 5 guests) and when we arrived, the menu was not the same. So we had to order from a very limited range and only excuses from the staff, no apology. The olive bread ordered was without olives, the goats cheese souffle which was delicious was on the menu with small side salad, no salad. The table was a great size, plenty of room but right next to an exposed (and huge) fridge so staff coming and going all the time with cool air onto the table in short gusts. Had to keep topping the wine up ourselves from our bottle/s, the waitress who was friendly was only there for taking orders and clearing up. We had to do everything ourselves.
Could not and would not recommend Bistro Elba, pretensions not able to be lived up to. Oh, and can some PLEASE tell the younger waiter to smile, at least once, its free and always appreciated by guests......
Thanks for your feedback Kehran. Our menu changes very often as we always try to order the best produce and prepare it fresh daily, the website is updated twice weekly but the menu changes much more often. We always have two vegetarian entrees and one vegetarian main listed. The bread we make is not olive bread and is not listed as such on the menu, the souffle is a entree served with sorrel leaves as stated on the menu. We have delicious sides dishes avaliable to order for the table to share.
Great food and service. Unpretentious.
The mussels are yummy
Ordered a bottle of wine $100+, asked to have it decantated. Waiter literally "emptied" the bottle into the decanter, like he was pouring a bottle of soft drink into a punch bowl!! Entrée of vitello tonnato was appalling. Veal was chewy and was drowned in dressing/sauce that looked like baby food and tasted terrible. This dish was basically untouched, when the waiter removed it, without comment. Main of scotch fillet was ridiculously expensive and consisted of at least 20% gristle and fat. My expectations when dining at a restaurant is to be able to eat the food. Sadly, my expectations were not met here.
A low key birthday celebration was enhanced by the welcoming and patient staff and delicious food and wine.
Bistro Elba is a consistently good restaurant. It has a great menu & is very much conscientious about looking after the ''locals''. In turn we try to frequent it.
Excellent first visit but I am a local would like real champagne on menu
Catching up with a friend for the first time in ages, Bistro Elba was a perfect location. I had two entrees and my friend had the lunch time special complete with a glass of wine. Food was very very tasty and quite clearly freshly made. Definitely going back.
Fantastic as always!!
Beautiful fresh food and a great wine list
My family love Bistro Elba. We frequent it a lot as locals. We love the food, service and beautiful wines on offer. Always fresh, nutritious, local, delicious, warm and friendly and absolutely the best place to sit, eat and drink in Sorrento by far.
Best meal in Sorrento. Quality produce. Brilliant flavours. Fresh oysters. Impeccable service. Good wine list. Highly recommend.
Consistently a terrific restaurant, Sorrento’s best in our opinion. Menu changes regularly, service is polite and knowledgeable and casual ambiance.
Good is tasty and delicious without being too complicated. Service is attentive but not over the top. Great selection of wines.
Great food and fabulous service. Staff were so friendly and helpful.
Good food good service. Will definitely be back.
As always, Bistro Elba looks after my Airbnb guests with grace and conviviality offering a changing menu that uses beautiful ingredients to deliver superb meals. It’s my go to restaurant in Sorrento.
Thanks again for providing consistently excellent food with lovely staff to deliver the goods.
Loved the food! Big shoutout to the staff who took the time to chat and get to know us thru the evening, which made us feel very welcome. The only gripe we had was that as the evening progressed, it simply became too noisy. Other than that, it was a delicious evening.
Always a beautiful fresh meal from locally sourced produce
The Bistro has become a regular Sunday night dinner for us. I don't cook red meat at home, so I go for the steaks. Always cooked to perfection and the accompanying side dishes are the best. Husband usually has fish, but the menu is such that it is difficult to decide.
Best Fish I have ever had, amazing wine choice.
Lovely staff, very welcoming and friendly. Pleasant atmosphere, nice food. Would recommend for lunch.
