Hessian covered walls, antique artefacts, private rooms and alcoves disguise the sheer size of this welcoming, characterful wine bar and dining rooms close to St. Pauls. An impressive wine list, delicious cocktails and selection of craft beers accompany a largely British menu using fresh, excellent quality ingredients.                                               Even though we booked through your website (Open Table) and was confirmed, our booking was refused because the restaurant said that they were at capacity, and the site should not have allowed us to book it.

                                              Booked a month ahead for my client. Received several booking confirmations including one the day before. The restaurant denied all knowledge of the booking and then when presented with the booking confirmation said they don't use Open Table or similar booking services. Wouldn't honour the booking.

                                              I made reservations for business lunch and went for 2 courses set menu with a starter and fish. Starter: black pudding scotch egg and pumpkin soup was great ! However, the plaice (main course) was totally unacceptable. They served twice and both times the fish was still raw especially in the middle bit when blood still visible when you cut through. I was totally embarrassed in front of my client. I hope the restaurant manager should re-visit their fish if they should be on the menu...

                                              Overall, I could recommend this pub. I have used this pub dining restaurant a couple times, it's cozy and good atmosphere, it's suitable for business lunch and dinner as they have some private rooms and not noisy/loud, the customer only are professional business people. The food is traditional British pub food, hard to say specifically good or bad but reasonably okay. I could recommend to the restaurant to prepare fancy food and changing daily food. There is really good atmosphere and convinence venue near by station.

                                              I dined here with a friend, just as a catch up dinner. The food was lovely but the service really let it down. We were not given the menu as described on the offer so just ordered off the main menu and then questioned the 2 course deal after with the manager as she was walking past. She made a comment that the waiters basically keep forgetting to put the 2 or 3 course deal menu's out, which to me highlighted the bad service we got! She was very kind and offered to either take the starters off or a glass of champagne for free. I am really glad we opted for the starters being taken off as we went into the bathrooms as we were leaving and discovered that we should have gotten the glass of champagne anyway as it was part of an offer they had for their birthday! I would go back but will be wary next time.

                                              Did we enjoy our experience at the Bottlescrue? NO!!! A thousand times No! The food was way too salty and overpriced. The service was painfully slow and the manager was unnecessarily rude and aggressive. And if you're allergic to fish, don't have the Caesar salad - it's not mentioned on the menu that it contains fish. The whole experience was upsetting and not only would I not go back, but I'm am certainly not recommending it to anyone.

                                              I wanted to share lunch with my son on his birthday and chose Bottlescrue because of its proximity to his office. Unfortunately he only gets one hour. I arrived early and ordered for both of us: one fish and chips , one rib eye steak cooked blue. The young waiter was helpful and keen to achieve our need for speedy service and food delivery. The food was good and the steak was done to perfection Regrettably there was only time for one course - I was envious of the many businessmen settling down for a long lunch - but it delivered on all fronts.

                                              Lunch for four. We were given a private space just off the main bar/restaurant area although hadn't requested it, which was nice. It was quiet for a Thursday lunchtime, I'd say, although that suited the situation as it was a business lunch Service was prompt and food was decent enough. I'm a risotto anorak and would give their risotto a 7-8/10. Would go again if in the area as it was pretty decent value for money.

                                              had a meal for 8 in the private room, as always service was amazing. Quality of food, everyone agreed was excellent. Good choice of drinks too.
