   I like Cross-Ties. The menu is interesting, especially some of the daily specials that are often mashups of American barbecue and Mexican staples. The sides are very good. The service has always been attentive and friendly. My only caveat is that the food quality seems uneven, and hasn't been as strong in my last two visits as several ones before. Not sure why. But my most recent visit was weekday lunch early in the week, so maybe there's not as much immediately-prepared food coming out of the kitchen as there would be on a Friday or Saturday night. Not saying that's the case, only that it's my leading theory. The meal wasn't bad, but it was disappointing. I'll go back again, but maybe not as often and I'll be thinking a lot more about the time and day of the week I visit.

   Excellent barbeque. They provide options for Eastern and Western style sauces that are very authentic. Neat ambiance.

   Love the facility, it’s a really neat concept. Food was absolutely delicious, I would highly recommend. We sat outside and the weather was delightful.

   Love this restaurant! Friendly staff, great food and a fun quirky train car interior. BBQ pulled chicken and pulled pork were amazing in the combo platter. Sweet potato fries are crispy and delicious - get a biscuit (or 2) they are worth it! Dessert apple crisp was hot are melted in your mouth - it's served ala mode!!! Great meal.

   On a road trip with my 12 year old son from NJ to watch our football Fighting Irish against the Tar Heels (however our favorite college basketball team is UNC) is what brought us to Chapel Hill. Great game, wonderful environment in the town. CrossTies was the best happy accident of our culinary year. Read positive reviews but once we got there we experienced the passion every person had to ensure the food and experience was perfect. We went off the BBQ section of the menu and the pulled pork and ribs were great. Roasted Brussel sprouts, fried deviled eggs, mac & cheese and onion rings were the sides that rounded out the entrees because you get two plus the hush puppies. House made sauces complimented each dish. BUT we led with the hickory smoked wings which are insane so we had leftovers. The finish and texture on the ribs and flavor in the pulled pork were excellent. They really care about the plates served which is a bit uncommon elsewhere. Can't wait to get back here.... and the leftovers helped us in our 8 hour ride home the next day :)

   The food was very good--very tasty and lots of good options. As others have noted, the service leaves a lot to be desired. The server brought our food out, and then disappeared for the rest of the meal. It would have been nice to see her to get a new drink. I think this place is ok--I'm not sure I would go out of my way to visit again. Lots of better options with better service.

   My family loves BBQ, but I'm a vegetarian. It's hard sometimes to find food for all of us! This was the perfect compromise, their BBQ tofu was outstanding. Plus, it was possible to make any of the options vegan! THANK YOU FOR HAVING BBQ TOFU!

   A Friday night date with my partner. We both had the pulled pork dinner that is served with two sides. I chose the smoked Gouda mac’n’cheese and the braised collard greens. He chose the fried deviled eggs and fried green tomatoes. Everything was amazing! The server brings out a caddy of sauces, I chose the lighter of the three. It was surprisingly sweet and paired well with the pork shoulder. For dessert we had the house-made key lime pie, and it was absolutely decadent. There are not enough words to describe how great the food and service are at CrossTies BBQ! We’ll definitely be returning!
