Figo Wine Bar
Overall I would give this place around 7/10 stars. Most of the food we ordered was tasty and paired well with the wine we got. I have three complaints- one, we had to wait a long time for food and drinks. It’s not a very large place so the lack of speed with service was a bit confusing. Two, a couple of the food dishes seemed basic or just not worth the money (I’m talking the fish entree that came with what appeared to be a frozen carrot, pea and pepper mixture). Finally, when we first came they sat us downstairs in the party room- which was a weird room by the bathrooms that seemed odd for six of us. Plus, we wanted the upstairs ambiance, not a quiet room. We politely asked to be moved upstairs which was accommodated, but odd that we were placed downstairs to begin with. It was a pleasant evening, but def not adding to rotation.
Good food. Good service. Was very hard to hear due to noise level and overhead music.
Beautiful, delicious tapas and great service. And we weren't drinking any wine so it was super affordable. Would highly recommend to anyone!
Figo wine bar brought us cake and champagne to celebrate our friend’s new engagement! It was super special in addition to a great meal.
I went to Figo with two friends before an event we had. Our reservation was for 6pm, but by 7:45pm we had only received two out of the 5 dishes we ordered, and our waiter had barely been back to even check on drinks. The restaurant was cute, but I do think they needed an additional server. Ours was very personable and nice, but clear that he had too many tables!
A bit loud but overall great
Absolutely horrible service. Waited an hour for our food to come and was there a total of 2.5 hours it took so long. One waiter working for the whole place! Great food but not worth the wait.
Yes, go and enjoy. Full bar and Tapas (small plates). Cute place with good service and good drinks and small plates & offer outside seating. Yes, they have a “Happy Hour” – Monday- Thursday from 5-6:30 pm. Friday 4-6:30.
We shared several small plates: Oysters, we sharedtwelve delicious oysters for a starter. Then Lamb skewers, Meatballs, Shrimp Scampi in a delicate delicious garlic wine sauce and complimentary sourdough bread to enjoy the last of any sauces. Excellent service, great cocktails made for a very enjoyable evening.
Honestly I never give negative reviews but I think some constructive criticism is due here. The wine flight itself was amazing and well worth he price. That being said we waited about 15-20 minutes for it to be poured and delivered. We also ordered a met and cheese board, again the food was fantastic but it also took at least 20 minutes to be delivered. I have a hospitality background so I can completely understand being busy, but it was a matter of putting meat and cheese on a board, not cooking a meal. After that I asked if the fish could be cooked gluten free as I have celiac, I was told that the chef didn’t like to change his menu. I live very close to this spot and would be a nice place to dine at regularly because I loved the wine and ambiance but I left with a negative impression. I’d appreciate a call from management please.
The staff worked together really well to make my surprise engagement dinner an event to remember always!
Sitting outside was quite pleasant. We were not rushed to order, which we appreciated. We had three small plates and two large plats for two and took some food home. The food is fine--and altogether, it was a pleasant experience.
It was OUTSTANDING!!! Our sever, a professionally trained singer, sang at our table! The food was SOOO good! We'll be back sooner than later.
Nice atmosphere and great food
Found Figo on Yelp when searching for a restaurant in the area. Figo was running a free appetizer Yelp special, so that sealed the deal. Made a same-day reservation; was running late and was able to move back by 15 minutes easily. Thanks, OpenTable! :) Good service, well-balanced cocktails, and delicious food. Among our party of four, we ordered [drink] rosemary-infused gin and tonic, negroni, By the Fireplace, Penicillin and [food] arancini, charcuterie, gnocchi, tortellini. Although we weren't really in a hurry, we were able to get in and out quickly but never felt rushed. Hourly street parking was available on a Saturday night. Would love to return!
Not having a hostess stand when you walked in the door was odd. It was alright in the dining area so we sat at the counter against the glass wall. Overall good experience.
Really fun food, atmosphere, with excellent service.
Very cute place and very good food. Music was too loud inside. nice outdoor patio on a side street so not too busy. Give it a try,
Air conditioning was a little strong. I understand you want your staff to be comfortable. This place would benefit by installing doors that open to the sidewalk.
Overall, it was a cute environment.
Small plates, but everything was tasty. My friend who was raised Italian, said the food tasted authentic.
My only issue was that—the service was lack luster.
Good food good service and good value for money. Will deffo go back.
Wonderful spot! Sat on the patio, not too loud and great service. Happy with our visit and will definitely be back!
We came to Figo with family for dinner. The service was amazing, Dan was excellent. The food came out together which we appreciated because it is small plates we enjoyed trying a little of everything. Our favorites were HOT plates: dates, eggplant parmesan, shrimp scampi, and burrata and for PASTA: gnocchi Genovese and tagliatelle. I would recommend two plates per person.
This a very good go-to place when we want a bit of upscale dining in the neighborhood.
It's not that Figo is bad, per se, it's just that none of the food had much, if any, flavor. The wines we tried were decent, but the list is pretty short for a place that seems to consider itself a wine bar. The service was pretty inattentive for a restaurant that wasn't exactly buzzing with energy. They also screwed up the one time we asked to omit an ingredient from one of the "tapas" we ordered.
I so wanted to love this place, and there were elements I did love, but the service was so wildly inconsistent that I cannot recommend. We sat at the bar, which usually leads to more attentive service, but not this time.
The staff seemed a lot more interested in chatting with each other than waiting on patrons. At one point, the bartender placed a bread basket near us without a word and immediately turned his back and started chatting with the bar manager, leaving us to wonder whether it was even for us. He also insisted we place our entire order at once, ostensibly so he could space out the courses, which would have been fine. However, each plate arrived at random intervals, leaving hot things to get cold while we finished the previous plate.
He was very attentive when we were choosing wine and cheerfully let me taste several different options when I was trying to decide, which was nice. The food was also very good. Overall, though, the experience left us feeling kind of baffled and I don't think that I would go back.
Had a reservation for a party of 5 at 7:30pm. Arrived about 10 mins early and were taken through the main dining area to the basement where we were seated at the end of a large table that appeared to be arranged for a private party. An additional party was seated at the opposite end of the large table. The area appeared to be a storage space repurposed to allow for a private dining area. The waiters were walking in and out taking supplies from shelves covered with vertical blinds. It was pretty easy to see the supplies stored on the shelves.
All this would have been a little disappointing but fine if it hadn’t taken almost an hour to order drinks and receive them. When the waiter returned we were ready to order appetizers and had questions about the meat and cheese plate and the rest of the menu. As we started asking about the meat and cheese plate, the waiter interrupted and told us due to how busy the restaurant was and the size of the kitchen, we could not place multiple orders and would have to place our entire order at once. We asked for more time and at that point decided this was not the dining experience we were hoping for, paid for our drinks, and went to another restaurant.
I was just so disappointed as my husband and I have dined at Figo before in the main dining room, which is beautiful, has a nice atmosphere, and great food. We came back with my mom and grandma who were visiting Chicago for the weekend and were excited for a nice dining experience. Unfortunately, instead we were put in a strange basement storage/ private party area where we seemed to be a bit of an afterthought.
While the food wasn't bad, it wasn't amazing. And the place itself is very loud. The kitchen was also quite slow, and there weren't enough bathrooms. That said, it was a very pretty place. So if you just want a pretty place to go have some wine in, this might be for you.
They were out of 2 of the 4 draft beers and didn’t have cranberry juice even though there was a grocery store across the street.
Food was great...small and large plates, although more small. Good wine list. Attentive service. Music was loud enough...couldn't hear waiter who described specials--suggest they get a chalkboard, if they are not willing to turn the music down--we asked! They turned it down for a minute or so and then back up again. In a place with no soft surfaces---it was too much
Charming little wine bar that we stumbled across. Loved the shared plates and food was better than expected. Great service and awareness of the menu and wines.
Cool space, got a seat by the window and enjoyed everything. Great wine list - ask your server if you don’t know Italian wine that well. Tapas style menu, great for sharing. Would definitely go back
Nice vibe. but portions were way too small and they only had 2 workers in the entire place so we had to wave down for everything. After 100$ we still weren’t full. this is a better spot to get a drink before dinner, not dinner.
