The First In Last Out (FILO), is a family run free-house in the Old Town of Hastings. Alongside our award winning beer, we serve quality food prepared from scratch. We offer lunch and dinner everyday, including our ever popular Tapas night (Monday), Indian Thali (Thursday) and Sunday roasts.

The brewery is located just two minutes away from the pub, where we produce five regular ales using a full mash-tun process. We love live music and host regular Sunday evening gigs, of which details can be found on our website.

The pub is popular with locals and tourists alike, who love to get cosy in our booth seating or warm up on cold winters' days around our unique central fireplace.

Dogs and children are most welcome.

    The roast dinner is absolutely beautiful! So tasty! The best yet. I had the roast chicken, which usually sells out quickly, with a good variety of flavoursome veggies and a homemade Yorkshire, accompanied by crispy potatoes and stuffing. Would recommend to anyone 😋

    The food and their own brewed beer is really good here and prices are reasonable too.

    Never eaten here before, but myself and my husband had our first date here 16 years ago and thought it would be good to revisit on our special occasion. We were greeted straight away by staff, who looked after us from the moment we arrived. We had a choice of two tables and chose the booth as it was more cosy and private. The food choice was excellent. Ordered a starter and a main. Didn’t have to wait long for our starter, which was of excellent quality and taste. Main course was just as good. I had liver and bacon. I asked for my liver to be well done and it was perfect. My husband had a steak, which he really enjoyed. We were both too full to have a pudding, so cannot comment on those. Very good value or money. We will definitely be eating here again.

    Lovely roast dinner, excellent service and lovely atmosphere as always in the Filo. Regular visitors to the pub and never disappoints.

    Lovely pub atmosphere with dining room at the back. Great Sunday lunch. Delicious food, lovely atmosphere. Good vegetarian option too. Portion side very generous.

    This is a regular favourite from the many Hastings Old Town pubs. It is unique in that it has its own brewery, just up the road, producing a selection of fine traditional ales and beers in additional to our regional favourite, Harvey's of Lewes best bitter. Food is varied and always good but I can never resist the salt beef sandwich!
