Truly one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. The duck liver parfait was foul, metallic, and almost inedible. The cocktail was so sugary it tasted like syrup. When the dessert trolley came out, the server just slopped everything onto the plate without any care or presentation. The mains were even worse. They tasted bad and the meat seemed off, which was honestly concerning. For a restaurant that claims to offer refined French dining, this was a complete failure. Absolutely would not recommend.

According to our records, you ordered two Gavroche menu, which included beef tartare and scallops, no duck liver parfait was served to your table. All our meat is delivered fresh daily and handled with care. Regarding the cocktails, you had the Effet Papillon (which contains 5ml of sugar syrup) and a Tommy’s Margarita, even ordering a second round, which makes your comment about it being undrinkable confusing. Desserts from the trolley are plated based on the guest’s selection, and we always aim to present them nicely. Nothing was mentioned during the meal or when we cleared your plates, so we had no chance to address concerns on the night. We’re sorry the experience didn’t meet your expectations.

My fiancé Clement Duliège and I had a truly lovely time at Gavroche Chippendale for his birthday dinner. The atmosphere was perfect for a special occasion, and the food was absolutely delicious. The service was attentive and made the whole evening feel very special. We both highly recommend Gavroche Chippendale for a memorable dining experience!

Amazing, rich french food! Very good service, professional and friendly. Ease to access, just a few steps from Central station in a cosy European style lane. We had the set menu and it was well served. Will definitely come back!

We began with two classic French starters: the escargots and French onion soup. The escargots came bubbling in garlicky, herbed butter — rich, indulgent, and exactly what you’d hope for. The onion soup was deeply savoury with a hearty broth, crowned with a generous cap of melted cheese and toasted bread. Comforting and nostalgic. For mains, we both went with steak, which arrived cooked as requested (rare) and well-rested. Tender, juicy, and paired beautifully with a side of aligot — that wonderfully stretchy mash of potato and cheese — and a refreshing salad that helped balance the richness of the dish. Sharing both sides gave us the best of both worlds: indulgence and lightness. Dessert was a sweet shared affair: the crème brûlée, with its crisp sugar top and silky custard, and the chocolate mousse, airy yet decadent. Neither overwhelmed; both were simple, classic, and satisfying. There wasn’t a weak point in the meal. Service was warm but unobtrusive, and the ambiance felt like a quiet corner of Paris, perfect for conversation and connection. Final Verdict: Gavroche isn’t trying to reinvent French cuisine — and that’s exactly why it works. It sticks to the classics and does them well. If you’re after an authentic French bistro experience in Sydney, it’s worth booking a table. We’ll definitely be back.

Had such a lovely dinner there! Food was excellent, the bottles of wine were more in the expensive side sadly but still good. Worth a visit and the aligot was 🤤🤤🤤

Confused menu information about how many snails. Good food. Someone's birthday, and we told them when booking, but staff didn't give it any mention!

The resturant is beatiful, a very intimate and elegant space, the food was amazing too, we tried the Le Petit Degustation and every plate was full of flavour, the portions were right for a degustation menu, the wine was very good as well. The waiters were very elegant and friendly. Overall a great experience, I recommend it 100%

Lovely restaurant service was amazing, very polite. Food was delicious, apart from a couple of dishes that didn't hit the mark. Snail dish, having had snails at other French restaurants these ones not so good. I wouldn't try again. In the desert menu the Crêpes with orange sauce wasn't that good. Apart from that everything else was amazing, the atmosphere was great, loved it. We are definitely coming back and I would recommend it to anyone who likes French cuisine. Overall 5 star experience.
