The Glen Ellen Star in Glen Ellen, California is a culinary experiment in wood fire cooking that highlights the best of California flavors. Established in 2012, Glen Ellen Star focuses all of the attention on seasonal ingredients that create unique dishes. Produce and meats are locally sourced to showcase the best farmers and gardeners of the surrounding region. Along with traditional cooking methods, Glen Ellen Star uses a wood fired oven to create wonderful dishes. You will want to start with one of the roasted vegetable plates before the main meal. Entr�es include the rigatoni with matsutake mushrooms and pomegranate chestnuts with pumpkin butter that is melt-in-your-mouth.

4th time eating here over the course of about 4 years. Service, ambiance and food have only improved. Had trout amandine on neighborhood night and it was exceptionally good. We live in Napa or we would dine here weekly, a must try if you haven't or if you're visiting the valley, particularly because the trip to Glen Ellen from Napa is a lot of fun (go up 29 and take Oakville Grade across to Glen Ellen).

Glen Ellen Star was amazing, such a cute, comfortable restaurant that we visited during our stay at the nearby Olea Hotel on our honeymoon. The restaurant had a lovely casual ambiance, but had a nice industrial / rustic atmosphere perfect for date night or a special occassion. Our favorites were the vegetables- the charred corn, cotija & lime dish, the brussels sprouts with bacon remoulade, and the pan seared chicken with salsa verde & chick peas. We shared the homemade bourbon maple ice cream that was also excellent!

Absolutely everything we ordered from the menu was fantastic. If the plates were edible we would have gone for those as well. Stellar experience. From ambiance, quality wait staff and excellent food we are now so obsessed with this place and it will be our go to spot. Roasted veggies are to die for and the pastas we recently had were phenomenal. Hands down best Gem in the Sonoma area (and we are locals).

The Glen Ellen Star definitely lives up to its name. I savor every minute when I'm lucky enough to have dinner here as it is a gem. We sat at the chef's bar and watched every dish while we interacted with the chefs. Each dish is meticulously prepared with amazing ingredients. I wanted every vegetable dish on the menu and finally decided on the cauliflower. It was a crown of cauliflower covered with tahini that looked like melted cheese with sliced almonds on top. The texture of the cauliflower was like butter. (Like buttah!) My spouse got the wood roasted calamari with zucchini pesto, pickled ramps, chorizo ribbons (I know!) and squash blossoms. I swear it looked more like a corsage than a dish. And he was smart enough to give me a couple of tastes. For the main, I had the brick chicken with hominy and green chilis and pickled jalapeño. Wowza! Just mention crispy-skinned chicken with a soft, moist center and a little heat of peppers and I'm swooning. The husband has house made farfalle with morel mushrooms, burrata, toasted pine nuts and basil with a hen egg carefully placed on top. Masterpiece!

We ordered the brussel sprouts, the special pizza, brick chicken and the ice cream. Everything was delicious, generous portions and the service was efficient and friendly. Booked a reservation on a Friday night but I don't think it was necessary.

My family went to try the neighborhood menu for the first time. The food was amazing, as always! Our server was very nice and not overly attentive. We will definitely be back to try more of the Wednesday night menus!

Very high quality cooking - every bite was yummy. Could have split the entrees, but we had leftovers the next day instead! Will look forward to next time!
