Hai Yen Restaurant welcomes you to experience the essence of Vietnam in Chicago. From our famous Bo La Lot (marinated ground beef wrapped in a Hawaiian leaf then grilled), to the very traditional beef noodle soup (Pho), or exotic salads such as the Lotus Root Salad, to our fresh fruit smoothies with tapioca, we have everything to please any one's palate.

Vietnamese food consists of regional flavors with an infusion of French and Chinese cuisine. Our cuisine is incredibly healthy and is known as the cuisine of the dipping sauces. We use a lot of fresh vegetables and herbs, mainly for wrapping with different types of meat in a very thin, delicate rice paper with a dipping sauce on the side. At our restaurant, we allow you to join in on the fun of cooking Vietnamese food by letting you cook the food right at your own table with a fondue pot, soup pot or a grill. So stop by and create your own experience of Vietnam with us!

This is one of my favorite restaurants. Salt and pepper tofu, mango salad, shrimp rolls -- all delicious!

Amazing food and great home cooking. The best Vietnamese food hands down on argyle. The owner and daughter are always hospitable and accommodating and so friendly! They make us feel right at home. Highly recommend to everyone. Please try their bo la lot, specialty beef tools and wraps that no one else can make. They are the best and i have relatives who visit and always want to make a trip to Hai Yen!

An extensive menu of classic Vietnamese cuisine, especially many varieties of delicious pho (in huge bowls, so need to ask for extra noodles!), all inexpensive (our group of four had appetizers, entrees, and drinks for $100). Prompt, friendly, and courteous service in a simple, diner-like ambiance.

This is an excellent authentic Vietnamese restaurant. Service was excellent and the food was also very tasty. Bun bo hue and bao la lot are exceptional. My very picky Vietnamese wife can vouch for the authenticity. Enjoy.

best vietnamese food we have found in Chicago Apparently the native Vietnamese agree judging by who was eating at hai yen be sure to order the bo a lot and the moon-shaped pancake

I starting going to Hai Yen ten years ago after a trip to Vietnam where I took a cooking class. This is my go-to place for Vietnamese food in Chicago. It is always consistent and good. I love the green papaya salad and the shrimp spring rolls.
