Hank's Oyster Bar, named after Chef Jamie Leeds's father, serves quality seafood and turf dishes in the heart of Washington, D.C. Select from a wide variety of fresh seafood dishes and enjoy your meal in the restaurant's inviting atmosphere. The spacious dining room is ideal for private events, such as wedding receptions, birthday parties and other get-togethers. Hank's Oyster Bar houses an ice bar, where guests can choose from raw oysters on the half shell, jumbo shrimp cocktail, middleneck clams on the half shell and much more. Fried seafood, like fried oysters, clams and lobster rolls, is also available. Daily specials at Hank's Oyster Bar include meat, like molasses-braised short ribs, Chesapeake fried chicken or pork tenderloin, as well as two delicious sides, which include favorites like coleslaw, chilled marinated beets and braised collard greens.

Why do I keep coming back here? I am going to stop. The food is OK but the service is so bad it's comical. After eating dinner with empty wineglasses, we finally sent the busboy to find our server, and after that it was just attitude and even longer to get a drink. Last time, my $28 entree arrived cold. Why bother, if they don't? There are plenty of places to eat around here.

Great little gem! Wonderful lobster roll. Filed with almost a whole lobster...delicious!

We got half a dozen oysters, all different kinds (two from the west cost, and 4 from the east coast). All were amazing. Then we tried the braised short ribs, with a ceasar salad and the mac and cheese. The ceasar was exactly that, and the braised short ribs were fantastic. Very tasty and tender. The mac and cheese is maybe the best I've ever had. Nice cheese blend that actually has a great flavor, the dish was shallow with a crispy crumble on top, which means I got some crumble in every bite. All of it was delicious.

We booked for an outside table because we had a special assistance dog, waited a while and they assigned a very cramped table inside because none outside was available around reservation time. I guess they should tell you that if you book for an outdoor table they won't reserve one.

The food is always good and the staff is great. We love that they normally have oysters from both coasts and often have PEI. It's a great go to with guests in town as is always consistently good.

Nice staff, good food, a little pricey (4 medium size scallops on some grains and a few algae pieces for 32$). Unfortunately you cannot fill up with dessert because the restaurant does not serve dessert. As a consolation they serve some good chocolate pieces with the cheque which was very nice.
