Honeysuckle is more than a restaurant. It’s a network of community spaces centered around the values of ancestry, nourishment, and reclamation that was founded by James Beard Award Semifinalists Chef Omar Tate and Chef Cybille St.Aude-Tate. In 2022 they opened Honeysuckle Provisions, an award winning afro-centric grocery/cafe and food-focused community space located in West Philadelphia. Now positioned in the North Broad area of Philadelphia, Honeysuckle offers a fresh perspective on food systems - expanding the idea of Afrocentricity in food by redefining the limits of a restaurant and celebrating the legacies and recipes of those that came before them.

    The only reason value is 4 stars is I'm not sure the drink pairing is worth it since you pick the drinks (vs what goes best with each course). But the food, ambiance were outstanding. Everything is so intentional from the plates to the art and the staff is great

    Front the moment I walked in the door, the service was outstanding. The food, descriptions, Art and Culturally intentional aspects were all impressive. Each course was delicious.

    This is one of the best meals we’ve had this year. The room is beautiful, but the real artistry is in the food. Each dish was delicious! You can’t go wrong here! The most surprising dishes were the Haitian spaghetti and maitake mushrooms—highly recommend both. Also the miso ice cream/benne sundae was unbelievably good. It was just the two of us this time, but this seems like a great place to come with a group—they have a number of tables that seat 6-8 people. The vibes are really friendly and happy. We received a complimentary glass of sake by the young man who actually made it and learned all about how he did so. Our only minor complaint had to do with the pacing between courses; we appreciated not feeling rushed the way some restaurants do, but our dinner ended up being almost three hours long which is a long time to stay seated (though they do encourage you to get up and check out the artworks and cool objects in the space). Next time we might try eating a la carte at the beautiful bar. We felt lucky to have a brief conversation with Omar Tate and he says the menu is going to change up soon—we will be back! This is a very special place!

    The menu at Honeysuckle is as delicious as it is creative. It is rooted in Afrocentric culinary tradition and many many of the delicious dishes are prepared from ingredients grown on their farm in Bucks County. I particularly recommend the deviled eggs appetizer, elevated by crab and scotch bonnets, but everything ordered by our table was perfection.

    Singular and special. No one is cooking food like this, in Philly or anywhere else. Highly recommended!

    This was our second visit, but the first at their new location. The space is open and inviting. The food is so creative and delicious, using every ingredient you mistakenly thought you knew how to use (or had never heard of). We opted to add the special burger to our meals and wound up hauling home leftovers that were yummy the next day. Fun fact: some of the food is served on beautiful stones, which are cleaned in a dishwasher. Like the food, they're locally sources. Really. We're lucky to have such a creative restaurant, now able to accommodate many more patrons in its North Philly location. It feels like visiting the high end restaurant in the TV show "The Bear" (but without the staff shouting at each other). 😊

    Chefs Omar Tate and Cybille St. Aude-Tate have created an incredible dining experience at Honeysuckle. The atmosphere, food, drinks, and service are unmatched. Every detail -- from ingredients sourced directly from the chefs' farm to artwork displayed throughout the restaurant -- is meaningfully curated. Whether you plan to spend an evening with the prix fixe menu or enjoy dishes à la carte at the bar, I couldn't recommend Honeysuckle more. Highlights from our meal (although hard to choose since everything was delicious) were the oysters, $PAY4HAITI (Haitian spaghetti), and the epis roasted chicken. Tell your friends, plan a date, treat your parents (or just yourself) -- just come check out this restaurant!
