Die Schöpfer von Sweet Basil in Vail Colorado eröffneten im Dezember 2012 ein innovatives neues Restaurant. Dieses traditionelle und entspannte Restraurant, treffend Mountain Standard genannt, zielt auf einen neuen Standard im Vail Valley ab, indem es eine antike Art des Kochens einsetzt. Der Großteil der Gerichte des Mountain Standard wird mit der ursprünglichsten Garmethode hergestellt: über einem offenen Holzfeuer vor aller Augen. Es ist das einzige Restaurant im Tal, das sich dieser uralten Kochmethode widmet. Das Essen in diesem spannenden neuen Restaurant umfasst traditionelle, innovative und ehrliche, unverfälschte Aromen und konzentriert sich auf die reinsten Zutaten der Rocky Mountains und darüber hinaus. Mtn Standard is located in the heart of the Vail Village, which is a pedestrian village. Take interstate 70 to the Vail exit #176. Proceed through rotary intersections so that you wind up heading East on the So. Frontage Road (ski mountain side of the highway). Go eastbound approx.¼ mile to the Vail Village parking structure. Exit the structure out the middle portal to the south. Go across the Covered Bridge another 75 yards, and go right on Gore Creek Dr. We are down the steps past the Fountain
Public transit
The Vail Village free in town bus shuttle is available year round throughout the village. Take the bus to the Covered Bridge stop and proceed as noted below. Free public transportation is also available from East to West Vail into the Transportation Center at the main parking structure.

It was so hot in the restaurant we were miserable! We asked to move tables closer to the outside but they said they couldn’t. Many people were talking about how uncomfortable they were!

This was our first time at Mountain Standard and it did not disappoint. Wonderful vibe inside and the food was incredible! Will definitely be back!

Once we received our cooked shrimp the meal was good. service was fine. I do not like seeing a service charge on my bill without being told about. I was happy the manager took it off the bill.

Meh. The food was decent, not great. The steak was way undercooked. To be fair, the server never asked how we wanted it cooked, so maybe that was part of the issue. The wine came well after our food arrived. I do have to give the staff credit for handling our food allergy with care. They took the time to swap out items that could have caused problems and told us up front what they could do to accommodate them. Overall, price and value were not met.

we arrived 30 minutes after a Bravo event early the restaurant was no more than half full and hostess refused to seat us with the only excuse being that it wasnt our reservation time she was immature and seemed to want to exert her power. We had friends from out of town who we were excited to bring to Mountain Standard. The service once we sat was great. As a local resident and a frequent customer this was really off putting. An example of extremely poor customer service. I dont think we will be back for quite a while
