Über dieses Restaurant

Ospi is the sophomore restaurant of Jackson & Melissa Kalb, focused on Southern Italian cooking and way of life. The name derives from ospitante (“host” in Italian), with the expectation that guests will feel as comfortable at Ospi as they would at a friend’s dinner party. There will be plenty of house-made pastas as well as an expanded offering of pizzas. The beverage program crafted by Kalb features mostly Californian and Southern Italian wines and a full bar with a special negroni section. At Ospi, the pizza is inspired by the techniques of Antico Forno Roscioli which Jackson and Melissa frequented while visiting Rome. Focusing on Romana Tonda-style crusts that are cracker-thin, he is adapting a recipe that he feels will resonate with the LA diner. Jackson feels it extremely important to not take food too seriously. Take a trip to Southern Italy and be a guest in our home.

The food is fine -- as other reviewers testify. But the atmosphere even on a week night is incredibly noisy and the opposite of intimate and personal. The table of two persons sitting right beside you left and right are shouting to each other to make themselves heard above the din and you can hear every single word of their convo. If this is your idea of a fun night out, you're welcome to it. I'd prefer an actual human atmosphere, not a show.

Male host was not very nice but the server was very kind although she was incredibly busy covering so many tables. Bernadette the manager was great and checked in on our group a few times. Food was excellent. Always love the food here but that male host with the attitude definitely didn’t start off with a good impression with my guests who we were bringing here for the first time.

Ospi has been my favorite restaurant for a very long time and this time was such a nice quiet lunch to catch up with my good friend. Food couldve came out faster and waiter couldve been more attentive.

So gooood! Our server was nice and attentive and everything we tried was delicious. Loved the Spicy Rigatoni, the meatballs, and the Margherita pizza.

The food was delicious, and the staff was very friendly. We went for Sunday brunch, and there were only a few people. Definitely coming back for dinner!

The food was mediocre, the kale salad was amazing though. The place is nice and our server was amazing but we had a reservation and waited 45 minutes to be seated.

Once we were seated, the service and food was excellent. But, it took them an hour (maybe longer) to seat us— with reservations. Unfortunately, this makes me not want to return.
