The hand rolled ravioli di octavio filled with butternut squash and herb pesto and a cup of the pastinaca and aragosta lobster bisque with truffle oil crostini make most welcoming starters. Some of Red Octave Kitchen + Bar's specialty entrée dishes include the braised short rib in a Tuscan demi-glace, the Colorado trout in pine nut brown butter and the crispy veal picatta in lemon caper butter sauce served atop pancetta risotto. Our whole experience was first rate from our server to the Caesar salad to the scallops, the ravioli and the Colorado trout. Great flavors. We had a delightful time and look forward to going back soon.

Owner came by to say hi and make sure everything was going great. Server helped with some dietary restriction and kitchen was very helpful and helping with that. Ate in the bar and was very comfortable and fun. Prices are great.

As a relatively new spot, I'm hoping this place irons out some of its odd wrinkles and becomes a great neighborhood place. The decor conveys upscale fast-casual dining, but the menu selections and associated pricing fits a high-end place. The food was good, but for the price it should be great. Meanwhile, the soft-rock live music from the bar area was easily audible in the dining area, competing with the upbeat pop playing softly on the dining room speakers (a genre choice which fits none of the other elements of the atmosphere). I suspect Red Octave is best enjoyed in the bar rather than the dining room.

Weird combination of hipster ambiance and fine food. I'd go back for the food, but the ambiance needs an overhaul. Its like the server was trying to make things fancy, but the management and ambiance were working against her. Like she was worried service was slow, but we went there to enjoy a meal - so I ended up feeling rushed (bad mgt). We almost didn't go in because of the ambiance.

We decided to celebrate my husband's birthday at Red Octave watching the Bronco win the AFC Championship! The atmosphere in the bar area was fantastic. They reserved us a large table for our group. There were plenty of TVs so everyone had a great view of the game. There was an electric fun energy with the Bronco loving crowd! We had loads of food choices. We got the wings which were amazing! Then we all ordered sandwiches from the lunch menu. The Colorado Dog was a huge hit! The service was excellent. Thank you for making this a special day for my husband. We will be back of course. :)

Bring your coat; the dining room and bar were both cold. The waitress was wearing a sweater and we never took our coats off. It can't be chalked up as an odd occurrence because this was the third time in a row (every time, for us), so it is likely to be the last time we visit Red Octave for lunch unless it's summer and we sit on the patio. Three out of four entrees were good, but the Tuscan chicken was poor -- dry chicken on a bed of little more than chopped iceberg lettuce. I had high hopes that this could become a neighborhood gem, but no such luck.

The dining room was cold. Despite being only two tables, the service was slow. The activity in the kitchen sounded like a frat house party for the proximity to the patrons. The food, when it did arrive, appeared that one dish had been sitting under a heating lamp waiting for the other dish to be prepared ( a nice layer of congeal). The bisque was overly salty. Repeated attempts to clear an unfinished appetizer, for only two tables, what was the rush? The band was exceptionally loud for the amount of people in attendance and room size; registering 96db on a sound pressure level meter.

Great Ambience, great staff, however the food is lacking. Arrived for Dinner and ordered the Salumi & Formaggio small plate as an appetizer and it arrived with very dry meat, almost like beef jerky, not many cheese or meat options on the plate, came with some dry chewy raisins, the plate did not look appealing, would not order again. Had the Jessica's Salad and the Tuscan Wedge, the salads were good. Then the main course we ordered was the Lasagna, it was too saucy and had no content, mainly burnt crusted bottom layer, would not order again. I agree with most of the reviews regarding the food, it needs some TLC. Would try the restaurant again and different food items since it is close to home, so might be good for a happy hour.

The food was ok, but nothing special. Although no one was there when we arrived, we were seated in a very cold area in a back corner of the dining room. Our waiter was very nice, but very awkward, and poor at timing the arrival of different courses.

We needed a place for a post holiday dinner with a choosy friend from across town. The arctic temps did not make it enticing to leave home, but Red Octave was worth it. I think the weather kept the Octave from being more vibrant as there were only a few people at the bar and one other table. Our server Mocha was great though. We loved the charcuterie plate -- and our choosy friend loved her trout. She kept the drinks coming. We'll definitely be back. Great affordable but delicious addition to Colfax.
