This is a tiny restaurant with less tables inside than fingers on one hand.
Although staff was friendly, it was impossible to feel as if you had any space to yourself. We sat next to three men loudly discussing the most disgusting American President in history while we as Americans visited Canada to get away from it for a few days.
The food was OK, but nothing that could not be made better at home.
The bread was rather dry, and wine was expensive.
All in all - rather disappointing evening.
The highlight was the chocolate mousse.
It was light and creamy.
Good food, nice place, happy servers, good price!
Great food and great service as usual. Yousef and Chris are the best!
Short staffed so service was definitely spotty — regularly having to search for our waiter. Annoying.
We had an amazing night, we received exceptional service from our waiter. The best in a long time.
Can't say enough about this place. A small, somewhat underrated restaurant nestled on Mainland Street that serves what we think is close to authentic Italian cuisine.
Have you ever lived the "Ratatouille" experience where Remy's dish takes Anton Ego back to his childhood in one bite? That's what happened with the experience here, but it took us back to when we visited Italy. In one word, authentic or pretty damn close to.
Without going into specifics, one highlight is their burrata from Puglia is used in a few of their appetizers and you can taste that it has that creamy aftertaste that lingers in the back of your mouth that dairy here locally can't match - a signature of any European dairy product it seems. Perfectly matched with prosecco.
The pasta we had was their signature pappardelle with Italian sausage, short ribs and free range chicken. With those ingredients, pasta cooked perfectly and ragu with amarone wine reminded us of our time in Italy. Anton Ego moment.
We also had the osso buco with risotto. Of course in this city (Vancouver), its all about being superficial and some may be unhappy at the look of this dish but let's be clear here, this is the way it should be done. Absolutely tasty and the risotto is cooked perfectly.
Dessert consisted of the classic tiramisu and panna cotta which again is very close to the real thing.
The atmosphere with the open kitchen really gets you close to the action and as a result, some of the smells of the food made you want to change your order (in a good way of course). The staff are knowledgeable and engaging which goes a long way too. This is the place to go for what we think is one of places you can call "authentic." Definitely will be back.
The food was wonderful; the best proscuitto I think I've ever had and I've been to Italy lots of times. also the burrata was superb. It is a very tiny restaurant but they made room for our table of five. i would not want to try to crowd any more than that in, unless it was summer and the patio was desirable. Overall the food experience was notable !
WE LOVE VINCENZO
Small and quaint. Some of the tables for 2 are in awkward spots But worth the good food. Not much for protein, great pasta.
Amazing like always.
This was our third visit to Robba Da Matti and like every other visit they did not disappoint. We live this restaurant and would take anyone there whether it’s family, friends or business clients. Food is delicious, hot, fresh, authentic. Service was excellent.
the best Italian restaurant in Vancouver. Food quality and staff are great
Love the love love the company always come by when we crave for Italian food
Always good! Not fancy but delicious food.
Pasta was okay, but nothing special. Spaghetti feels under-cooked since it's still quite firm and too chewy for liking. Open kitchen with electric burners, so it lacks that ‘breath of the wok’ flavour from gas burners in my opinion. Much of the food was pre-made in containers from fridge. Seafood tasted fresh though.
The best service we’ve had in recent memory. Our server absolutely tried to go above and beyond.
Would give it top marks across the board but the food was tasty, not perfect. Bruschetta was bland and carbonara too salty. They won’t win any awards for bar tending so stick with a wine you enjoy. Overall though a very solid choice. Great atmosphere and service, solid food at reasonable prices.
Great food, nice place, friendly service- that's what dinning is all about.
Very much enjoyed the place. Friendly staff and good simple Italian cuisine. Reasonable prices and noise level tolerable. Will definitely return
Enjoyed the meal but very limited options for non-dairy eaters. Osso buco was good but not fantastic.
Amazing food. Great recommendations. Cozy atmosphere
Great food! Yousef was amazing.
Will definitely come back.
When we arrived for our reservation, the bartender asked us to wait outside. After waiting ten minutes in the cold, I went back in and said we would like to be seated since we have a reservation. We were seated outside near the entrance to the patio, again in the cold. We requested to be moved inside or to another open table outside which was more in the middle and under the heater but we were told we could not be moved.
The food was awesome and our waiter was really nice but between the extra wait in the cold at the beginning and then dining in the cold, the experience was pretty much tarnished.
We tried seafood risotto, pasta, and tiramisu and everything was delicious.
It’s always amazing here. There food is fantastic and so authentic and the service is friendly and personable. One of our favourite places. Thankyou for always being consistent ❤️
Good food and Nice service. I'll be back with my wife soon.
Best beef carpaccio in Vancouver
Loved the selection and high quality of food, especially the gluten free options. I am celiac and I had a totally positive experience. The staff were welcoming, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and kind. I was craving a seafood risotto and this more than hit the mark for me.
we were there for dine out vancouver
our waiter was awesome and so was the food
we're already planning our next visit!l
the only downfall was that their burrata had not come in that day
The food was excellent! We had heard about this restaurant several times. It did not disappoint!
Kristian was great and was very hospitable. Will return
Food was great, service was amazing. Patio was a bit chilly even with the heaters. Would definitely go again!
Pasta was so so. I had the lobster ravioli and it didn’t taste fresh.
Good food terrible service. Waiter was not friendly or attentive and did not come back to check up on our table after we ordered
Food and service was fabulous. A bit cramped and noisy but worth going.
First time here for dine out. Excellent food and service. Small and cozy. Will come back
The pasta we had was delicious, but unfortunately the portion size was so small we were both starving when we left. The linguine con Vongole had just 3 small clams. I did not feel it was worth the $20 price. Otherwise, excellent taste.
Amazing food and service never been disappointed!!
First time I have been, and I will be back for sure. I’m happy my friend wanted to split each course because the ‘dine out’ salad, carpaccio and parpadele (dp?) were amazing. The lobster/shrimp ravioli was ok.
Yes, yes, yesssss... Robba de matii, I don’t eat past if I don’t make it my self being part Italian but I would drive far to come eat your food, that says a lot. The only reason I gave it a 4 Over all is bc we had reservation and we still waited about 40 min for our table :( hopefully that is not the case next time 🙏🏽
The appetizer was fantastic, and please try the beef tenderloin. And the waiter was super nice and stylish.
