Siena Tavern

My friend and I were visiting Chicago and this was our must try. We love it! Will defiantly be going back!
Always a great experience
We really enjoyed Siena Tavern as did our client. We ordered something from every section of the menu so we had a WIDE variety of food and I don't think one person was disappointed. Our server was exceptional as well.
I've been here a couple of times, but both were for work functions and this time was personal. One downside is that they have no ability to comfortably sit more than six people. We had seven. If you have more than six, you are stuck (as I have been before) with a high table and metal stools. Not a good design for a sitting in for 2 hours, which is at least how long your meal will be with a group that size. The do have a private room, but that is it. And that private space is not huge.
All that aside, the dishes are great. Everyone very much enjoyed their food, even when not expecting to based on just reading the menu. That is, their expectations set at a normal level were far exceeded. The portion sizes align with the pricing, and cut most of the competition in River North out, where the "less is more" approach seems to appeal to no one. No one left hungry, and the dessert menu had something for all, which includes our GF folks. Again, these portions are enough to share, which is not typical of the area.
If you don't want to feel like you are in a bar, just ask to have a table on the other end of the room, and you won't even notice there is a bar there. This is a good spot that has been a staple in the area for years, and will outlast others with good food, fair pricing, quality service and inviting atmosphere. One of the best bang for your buck places in River North for sure.
Very delightful restaurant! Service was great! So was the food. Especially the Brussels sprout pizza just delicious! Would definitely recommend it to friends! Great waiter& the young man who parked my car was awesome. I couldn’t get up the curb and he walked me all the way to the corner because it was raining and slippery.
Loved it...Brick Chicken was excellent
Food was bland and over cooked. Service was terrible. Most notable was the lack of friendliness of the staff. Hostess, bartender and server all had an attitude of being inconvenienced and seemed like they didn’t want to be there.
Worth trying. We enjoyed it but don’t have a strong desire to go back again.
Waitress was great. Thank you. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
We ended up eating at the bar since spots opened up and we were early for our reservation. Our bartender was fabulous! Great recommendations and service! Food was amazing!
The food was out of this world good. Sweet little spot in a city perfect for any occasion.
Recommend to all.
Upsetting when you bring your son who has a very severe egg allergy and don't feel 100% confident that the food you're ordering is going to be safe - even after requesting a manager to come to the table. No one seemed to understand that egg-free doesn't equal gluten free. The other kicker: They charged me for a full priced pasta entree when all we ordered him was a bowl of pasta. $18 for a 7 year old - just pasta, nothing else. Use to be one of our favorite spots in Chicago, but not anymore. So sad.
Great dinner and environment
Service was great all around
We had dinner at Siena Tavern this past Sunday. The service was excellent. The meal was absolutely delicious. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meal. The Kale salad is the best I have had. Steaks, fish, pasta, all terrific. There isn't loud music, which is wonderful for a quiet evening of conversation and a great meal.
This is the second time we have been to this restaurant and both times made this as one of our top favorite restaurant destinations in Chicago!
Great food and great service. Lobster squid ink linguine is amazing, the beets salad is pretty good too!
Amazing atmosphere and incredible food! First time here on a girl's weekend and highly recommend!
Fantastic atmosphere, great food! Will return!
The food was wonderful, especially enjoyed the butternut squash tortellacci.
My sister and I had the best time at Siena Tavern! The burrata appetizer was delicious!! We shared the pappardelle with bolognese and the spaghetti with lump crab. Both were wonderful and we would highly recommend them. Our server was very helpful and attentive. Really great experience!!
My very first trip to Chicago, and discovered Siena Tavern on Open Table. Very pleasantly surprised! The food was outstanding. They make their own fresh pasta, and it was delicious. However, the service was a bit spotty, and the noise level was over the top. That being said, I would definitely return for the excellent food.
I really loved this restaurant last time I went. This time around, 2 of the 4 items simply weren't good. Flavor and seasoning off. Then we had a server that wasn't attentive and pushed items that were the most expensive (which we bought), but didn't deliver on taste. He was far from apologetic. Crazy how I could be such a fan one time, and then the second time be so "off" that I won't be returning.
Food was delicious and service was great!
Siena Tavern was a deception, we had read good reviews and had high expectations. The Buratta was not real buratta, defenitely not containing cream and without much taste. The accompaniing chutney actually made the dish. The Caccio and pepe pasta was recommended by our server as being "well done here", they were ok but no more. But the real deception was the Grilled octopus, which was served in a bowl with potato chips and a few greens, everything soaked in a sour broth. That broth made nothing else than soften the chips and make the octopus loose it's grilled texture, feeling and taste. It actually looked as if the octopus had been grilled, frozen and then reheated in that broth. I sincerly hope I am wrong.
Since we did not eat more than one bite of it, the manager did not charge us for it and offered us two donuts to finish the meal, which were, I must, say pretty good
The baked lasagna was outstanding. Very nice atmosphere- tastefully decorated. Hostess and servers were friendly and professional.
great small plates... helpful staff with good recommendations and fantastic service.
Every single item we had was delicious, but the pastas were the star of the show. We ordered squid ink linguine, truffle gnocchi, and caccio e pepe, all of which featured homemade pasta that was the perfect texture and beautifully balanced flavor. The three appetizers we had - octopus, burrata, and hamachi - were all great, but the perfectly cooked octopus blew us away. Dessert wowed us slightly less than the savory food but was still very good - we tried the monkey bread and the cookie jar. The #11 cocktail is the best if you like gin.
Great overall experience. Loved the atmosphere, service was great and enjoyed our food and drinks. We were on a girls trip. We each got a different salad and split 2 pizzas. All were great and would go back again!
As always, it was a wonderful experience at Siena Tavern! They remain one of our favorites! Food was spectacular, as was the service. Will be back again soon!
What an awesome night! From the second I sat at the bar waiting for my friends I was greeted and treated like the most important person in the room! Amazing bartender who made an unbelievable pomegranate martini! Once my friends arrived and we moved to our table, the high level of service only continued! The food was spectacular! The sommelier came over and helped us pick the absolute perfect wine! It was literally a perfect night!
Awesome experience. This is our 3rd time there. The food is always delicious. Service was great.
The manager went above and beyond by comping a round of drinks when we weren’t seated 15 minutes after our reservation time. I had stopped going to Siena Tavern because I was never seated on time, so this was a nice touch to tell me they are trying better now, making me want to continue to give it another chance.
One of the best meals I’ve ever had in Chicago!
Celebrated a birthday and had a fantastic evening here. The food and service were great. Before dinner was even over, we decided to come back!
The pasta dishes felt a bit over salted.
Outstanding food and service. Great wine list too. Too bloody loud, but that seems to be true more times than not.
Business trip
Always enjoy the food at Sienna tavern. My daughters favorite restaurant and she chose it for her birthday. Have been going there since it opened. Great dishes to chose from and service is always exceptional.
I really enjoyed my visit to Sienna Tavern. I've been before but there wasn't as big of a crowd this time. The service was fast and friendly and we got to sit in a booth rather than the highboys. I wasn't looking for intimacy just comfort and that it was. The staff was attentive and my martini was incredible. I've told friends that they should go for the experience but they'll love the food!
Brunch and service was excellent. Both lunch and brunch menu were enjoyed by all
