Traditionally, Persian families gathered around the sofreh, an iconic fabric spread that served as the backdrop for beautiful displays of food during New Year, weddings, and other celebrations.

More than a decorative tablecloth, sofreh represents the warmth and hospitality that Persian people are known for. We embody this ethos at Sofreh, with traditional Persian dishes that represent/speak to the rich heritage and diversity of the region that is modern-day Iran. We want Sofreh to feel like a second home - a place where you can experience comforting food, made with love, in an inviting atmosphere.
Our philosophy is simple - food should be authentic, well crafted, and delicious. We capture this essence in everything we create, from our homemade yogurts to our fresh-baked breads. We even make our own pic

A great night at this Persian restaurant. Took us a week to get a decent time reservation. Very nice inside, not too closely seated. Very welcoming staff. Food was amazing. The owner and chef personally introduced herself to us which was a very nice gesture. A bit confusing who our waiter was resulting in a few delays with dessert but this didn't distract from a great feed. Our most expensive dining experience so far in NY. Definitely recommend trying this place. A few minutes walk from Barclays.

So grateful to have had the opportunity to go to Sofreh on the night before the corona closure - if there was any restaurant in the city to have a memory to hunker down with, I can't imagine more beautiful tastes lingering in my mouth. Can't wait to support this elegant and warm place once again.

My second visit to Sofreh and it doesn’t disappoint. The food was unique and delicious and reflective of Persian herbs and spices. We had a variety of appetizers and main dishes and each was outstanding. Eggplant appetizer and steak main course were our favorites. The owner moved gently from table to table offering menu suggestions and making sure each patron was enjoying their dining experience. We will definitely returns to Sofreh!

Sofreh is by far one of the best restaurants in New York. I was extremely impressed by the customer service, the expertly curated decor and more importantly the food. My waitress recommended the sea bass in tamarind sauce with saffron rice on the side, what a perfect creation. The attention to detail, balance of flavors and presentation were above reproach. To top it off, the chef/ owner and restaurant leadership team were genuinely engaging customers to ensure their expectations were exceeded. If you consider yourself a foodie or love food that overwhelms your taste buds with deliciousness, Sofreh is your next destination! And if you live in New York City, Sofreh is a 2 minute walk from Bergen St. station! Bon Appetit!

Amazing food, great service. The owners were there and treated us with the most fantastic Persian hospitality I could ever ask for. Can’t wait to go back soon.
