   What a great experience! I loved being introduced to tempura with such a wide range of ingredients. The chef was exacting and very enthusiastic about his craft, while also engaging casually and personally with guests. I don’t want to spoilt any surprises, but I found the experience to be deeply personal, a gift, and the chef made such a wonderful, memorable experience - the food, the other guests, the staff, the chefs.

   Shimura Sen was an excellent host and so as Phillip Sen. Food was really delicious. We especially loved the nori-mochi sushi roll with fried tiny shrimps and the special fried mushroom. Drinks were good quality but sake was a bit expensive for a tiny glass (although it's very good). Overall we really enjoyed the experience. We love to revisit on our next trip to Tokyo. We highly recommend Tempura Ono. 🥰

   Excellent food and hospitality. Even though we were late for the appointment, but the staff and chef were both very accommodating. Though the price may be steep for someone, but it's definitely one of the lifetime experience.

   This was my most memorable tempura experience. I didn’t know tempura can be served in so many ways. I’m used to shrimp and vegetable tempura only in the states. The chef Shimura was not only an excellent chef, he was very personable and entertaining. Our meals were served in a sushi bar style where your meal is cooked in front of you and served by the chef. He explains every item being served. The tempura dishes were cooked to perfection. Some of the most memorable dishes include the amazing tempura taco, tempura oyster severed over a mushroom sauce and tempura waygu beef. The chef even sat with us after the the meal and gave us valuable recommendations on what things we should experience while in Japan. Highly recommend this restaurant if you want a complete tempura experience.

   My family of 8 had lunch at Tempura Ono, raving how delicious the food was. As I was still traveling outside Tokyo, we made reservations about a week later . Everybody in our 5 person group was tremendously excited! FOOD - We also had lunch and sat at the counter with three other customers that we made “ friends” with. The process was amazing to watch: Chef would cook up the entree in one batch, then proceed to pass to each person from his right to left, counter clockwise . Since we sat to chef’s far left side of the counter, we saw each delectable item served to other patrons before the morsel landed on our own plate. Food 4 1/2 stars I would’ve come back BUT… 1) we paid about $125 USD per person for lunch versus my other family member who went the previous week and paid about $55 USD for lunch. Our price was doubled per person . 2) One person in our party couldn’t make the meal due to a medical emergency which we told the chef. We conveyed that we would pay for the meal since we understand it’s not cancellable but requested we get the meal served and we will eat the food if we had to pay for it. We didn’t get the meal we had to pay for although we asked. Never came! :( What? When my family went to Tempura Ono during the prior week they also had a cancellation but were served the entire meal of the missing person which they paid for it. So in short, the food is exceptional. But having to A) pay double the price for the same exact lunch meal as everyone else B) not getting the meal when we requested it Yet still having to pay anyway… well, you know how I feel.

   I loved it. The food was great. The chef was amazing. I love tempura but I didn't know tempura can be so good.
