I was here two weekends in a row both before and after the theater. It was so lovely, relaxing. Food was great. The outdoor space was excellent. It’s housed in the old police headquarters. Period. I love that historic connection. I will definitely be back.

We came to The Berkeley for dinner as a group of five (my partner, his family, and me) and every single one of us left raving about the food, service, and value. We all ordered the $50 prix fixe dinner and tried nearly everything on the menu: clam chowder, Caesar, and spring verde salad to start; filet of sole and steak frites for mains; and both the flourless chocolate cake and crème brûlée to finish. Every dish was beautifully plated and full of flavor — not a single miss. The room was quiet (surprisingly so for a Saturday night at 6:30 PM), but that made it feel like a true hidden gem. Most guests seemed to be outside on the terrace, but indoors had a charming, cozy bistro vibe — and we practically had the dining room to ourselves. The staff was professional but warm, and the pacing of courses was spot on. We were genuinely shocked this place wasn’t more packed. For the quality of food and experience — especially in this part of Boston — the prix fixe is an absolute steal. Highly recommend this place before word gets out.

The service was wonderful and the food tasty ! One critique is that some bread for table would have been desirable or maybe an option.I don’t know if the thinking is that it’s outdated but I dine out in many fine restaurants and I appreciate it ,Especially, if you are drinking alcohol. Otherwise, I had a good time as a solo traveler.

Superb pre-theatre dining: prix fix included crab bisque, delicious filet of sole with asparagus, and warm molten chocolate cake. Quiet dining with candlelight and excellent service.

Great food and outstanding service. We ate here with a party of 10 for my daughter’s college graduation. The main restaurant was closed this evening even though Open Table confirmed our reservation. There was a technical error with Open Table which is not particularly important. But we could have had a disaster showing up a 7 pm with 10 hungry people on graduation night to an otherwise closed restaurant. William, the manager, was finishing his shift when we showed up. He opened the dining room and he and his staff took care of us. So appreciative and we had a wonderful evening. Very grateful for the service and fantastic food.

The staff at the Berkeley was amazing from start to finish. The bartender, maitre'd, and server all took great care of us. The food was delicious and the ambiance lovely. We would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, delicious meal.

We were a large party with a long-confirmed reservation for a graduation celebration but our table was not available and was going to be long delayed. I suspect another large party was mistaken for us and was seated just before us. However, William and his staff were amazing and owned the situation. They offered us choices of alternative seating and we chose outside despite the temp. It was below street level, not windy, private, had heaters and was perfect. William also brought us a complimentary round of cocktails and two charcuterie boards. It started rough but we felt very well taken care of. Staff was attentive and cared about our experience. Food was excellent!
